If you want to farm Enshrouded ore, follow the biomes: copper comes from Revelwood, tin from the Nomad Highlands, iron from the Kindlewastes, silver from the Albaneve Summits and gold from underwater in Veilwater Basin. Every new metal means the next region, and usually a higher Flame Level.
This guide covers each Enshrouded ore with its biome, spots, tool and processing, plus the two fuels, Charcoal and Coal. All Smelter and Blast Furnace recipes come from the version 1.0 game data (database enshrouded.th.gl). Spots come from the English community wiki and the German community database eprison.de. Anything we couldn't confirm for 1.0 is marked as pre-1.0.
๐บ๏ธ Overview: which Enshrouded ore is in which biome
| Ore | Biome | Biome level | Turns into | Station |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copper Ore | Revelwood | 10โ15 | Copper Bars | Smelter, Blast Furnace |
| Tin Ore | Nomad Highlands | 15โ20 | Tin Bars | Smelter, Blast Furnace |
| Iron Ore | Kindlewastes | 20โ30 | Iron Bars, Steel Bars | Smelter, Blast Furnace |
| Silver Ore | Albaneve Summits | 30โ35 | Silver Bars | Blast Furnace |
| Gold Ore | Veilwater Basin | 35โ45 | Gold Bars | Blast Furnace |
The biome level ranges come from eprison.de and are a rough guide for enemies and gear. How the Flame Level gets you deeper into the Shroud is covered in our Flame Altar levels guide.
โ๏ธ Tools for Enshrouded ore: pickaxe and Mining Sieve
You mine every Enshrouded ore vein above water with a pickaxe. eprison.de lists seven tiers, and the Blacksmith makes every one except the first. The damage values below date from before 1.0. We haven't found confirmed 1.0 numbers yet, so treat them as a comparison between tiers, not as exact current values.
| Pickaxe | Level | Damage (pre-1.0) |
|---|---|---|
| Pickaxe | 1 | 11 |
| Scrappy Pickaxe | 5 | 17 |
| Copper Pickaxe | 10 | 25 |
| Bronze Pickaxe | 15 | 32 |
| Iron Pickaxe | 20 | 40 |
| Steel Pickaxe | 30 | 55 |
| Gilded Pickaxe | 40 | 70 |
Neither the community wiki nor eprison.de says that a specific pickaxe is required for a given ore. What is clear: more damage means fewer swings per vein. If you mine a lot, upgrade early.
Since the "Forging the Path" update, the official patch notes say pickaxes, felling axes and the Mining Sieve can be upgraded with Runes. Mining with the pickaxe also builds Focus for a special ability. Where the Runes come from is explained in our guide to legendary weapons and upgrading.
๐ Copper: the first Enshrouded ore in Revelwood
Copper is the first Enshrouded ore you need for better tools and weapons. According to the community wiki, you mine Copper Ore from copper veins in Revelwood. The 1.0 game data gives two ways to process it:
- Smelter: 10 Copper Ore and 10 Charcoal make 10 Copper Bars.
- Blast Furnace: 20 Copper Ore and 20 Coal make 20 Copper Bars.
Flame Level 4 also takes 15 Copper Ore straight from your inventory, so don't smelt it all.
Early on you only have the Smelter and Charcoal, because Coal doesn't show up until the Albaneve Summits. Stock up on Wood Logs for the Charcoal Kiln: every Copper Bar costs exactly one Charcoal in the Smelter. Leftovers can go into the Blast Furnace when you come back later. Every copper recipe and our shopping list for your start are in the Enshrouded Copper Bars guide.
โช Tin Ore in the Nomad Highlands
According to the community wiki, tin sits in the Shroud of the Nomad Highlands, in mines and cave passages. eprison.de names two specific spots: a dust pit to the east, roughly level with a keep and south of the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire, and a mining shaft further west, level with the same spire.
- Smelter: 10 Tin Ore, 10 Charcoal and 2 Wood Acid make 10 Tin Bars.
- Blast Furnace: 15 Tin Ore, 15 Coal and 4 Wood Acid make 20 Tin Bars.
You make Wood Acid at the Charcoal Kiln, just like Charcoal: 15 Wood Logs and 3 Springlands Dirt give you 10. Our math from the recipes: in the Blast Furnace, one Tin Ore yields 1.33 bars, in the Smelter exactly one. That makes tin the only one of the five metals where the Blast Furnace gives you more bars per ore. If you need lots of Bronze, build it early.
The Flame Altar wants raw tin too: Flame Level 5 costs 20 Tin Ore. Since tin sits in the Shroud, your timer runs while you mine. Tips for that are in our Shroud timer guide, and every tin recipe is in the Enshrouded Tin Ore guide.
โซ Iron Ore in the Kindlewastes
Iron is the big jump in gear. According to the community wiki, Iron Ore is in the Kindlewastes, in mines and cave passages, with the Ridgeback Mine being the best known. eprison.de lists a mine below the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire as a spot.
- Smelter: 10 Iron Ore and 20 Charcoal make 10 Iron Bars.
- Blast Furnace: 20 Iron Ore and 40 Coal make 20 Iron Bars.
Iron Ore also leads to Steel Bars, which you need for the Mining Sieve, among other things. Flame Level 6 asks for 30 Iron Ore directly.
๐ฅ Silver and gold: endgame Enshrouded ore
Silver Ore is found in the Shroud of the Albaneve Summits. Only the Blast Furnace can smelt it: 20 Silver Ore and 40 Coal make 20 Silver Bars. Flame Level 8 needs 40 Silver Bars. The spots and every silver recipe are in our Enshrouded Silver Ore guide.
Gold Ore lies underwater in Veilwater Basin. For that you need the Mining Sieve, described by eprison.de as a hand scraper and sieve for mining gold and other materials underwater. It is level 40, and the Blacksmith makes it from 3 Steel Bars, 2 Palm Wood Logs, 1 Wax and 2 Plant Fiber (recipe per eprison.de, pre-1.0).
At the Blast Furnace, 20 Gold Ore and 40 Coal become 20 Gold Bars. According to the game data, the recipe also takes 20 Archaic Shards instead of the ore. Flame Level 9 asks for 50 Gold Ore directly.
๐ฅ Fuel for smelting Enshrouded ore: Charcoal and Coal
Nothing melts without fuel. Enshrouded has two kinds, and they're easy to mix up:
- Charcoal is made at the Charcoal Kiln: 12 Wood Logs (or another wood such as Hardwood) and 3 Springlands Dirt make 10 Charcoal. It fires the Smelter.
- Coal is mined in the Albaneve Summits, for example at Rothstep Mining Settlement northwest of the Ancient Spire, according to the community wiki. The Blast Furnace is its main use.
The Blast Furnace handles twice as much per run as the Smelter and burns Coal instead of Charcoal. According to the 1.0 game data, though, it only gives you more bars per ore with tin. With copper and iron, the ore-to-bar ratio is 1 to 1 in both furnaces, so you only save the Charcoal.
๐งญ Order: which Enshrouded ore to farm when
Every Enshrouded ore follows the order of the biomes. You don't have to farm everything at once, only the metal of your current region plus what the next Flame Level needs. The altar amounts in the table come from the 1.0 game data.
| Phase | Biome | Farm for |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Revelwood | Copper Bars, 15 Copper Ore for Flame Level 4 |
| Mid | Nomad Highlands | Tin Bars, 20 Tin Ore for Flame Level 5 |
| Mid | Kindlewastes | Iron and Steel Bars, 30 Iron Ore for Flame Level 6 |
| Late | Albaneve Summits | Coal, 40 Silver Bars for Flame Level 8 |
| Endgame | Veilwater Basin | 50 Gold Ore for Flame Level 9 |
| From 1.0 | Cinder's Cradle | Materials for the new crafting tier |
Plan generously when you farm Enshrouded ore. The Flame Altar amounts come on top of what tools, weapons and armor eat in bars. If you only farm ore for the next upgrade, you'll keep running back to the same mine. A fixed loop works better: clear the mine, head home, fill the furnaces and go after the next target while they run.
There's a second reason to keep a stock. According to the community wiki, tin and iron veins sit in mines and cave passages, and tin is inside the Shroud on top of that. Every extra trip costs time. If you get your Enshrouded ore in one go, you skip several runs into the same area.
๐ก Tips for farming Enshrouded ore
- Think ahead: On every trip, bring back the ore for the next Flame Levels. From level 6 on, those amounts otherwise cost separate runs.
- Use the hints: Since "Forging the Path", the patch notes say most resources show a hint on where to get more.
- Run furnaces in parallel: Smelter and Blast Furnace work side by side. Fill both before you head out again.
- Get back fast: Ancient Spires and Flame Altars take you straight to the mine, see Enshrouded fast travel.
- Plan your workshop: Smelter, Blast Furnace and Charcoal Kiln belong inside the build area of your main altar, see base building.
- Blacksmith first: No Blacksmith, no better pickaxe. Where to find him is in our craftspeople guide.
๐ What changed for Enshrouded ore in 1.0
Spots, biomes and tool names still apply. We switched the Smelter and Blast Furnace recipes to the 1.0 game data on October 27, 2026. The amounts per run are much more generous now: in the Smelter, 10 Copper Ore make 10 bars, while the community wiki lists 20 ore for the same result.
The official changelog for version 1.0.0.0 from October 15, 2026, lists these changes for ore and processing:
- Workshops: yield and production time of many factory and cooking recipes reworked, more generous and faster for commonly used goods.
- Stone: recipes with stone now ask for the stone type of the matching biome instead of almost always the Springlands stone.
- Flame Levels 6 to 9: fewer materials, with Electric Organs and Poison Stings replaced by more common resources.
- Other resources: more Archaic Essence from matching terrain, larger Aquamarine deposits and gold coins as a new resource from chests.
Cinder's Cradle also adds a new crafting tier. The game data pages don't include furnace production times, so we don't list any here. The full list is in our Enshrouded 1.0 patch notes.
โ Enshrouded ore FAQ
Where can I farm iron in Enshrouded?
In the Kindlewastes, in mines and cave passages. The best known spots are the Ridgeback Mine and a mine below the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire.
Where do I find tin?
In the Nomad Highlands Shroud. eprison.de names a dust pit east of the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire and a mining shaft to its west.
How do I get gold in Enshrouded?
With the Mining Sieve, underwater in Veilwater Basin. The Blacksmith makes the sieve from Steel Bars. In the Blast Furnace, 20 Gold Ore and 40 Coal make 20 Gold Bars.
What's the difference between Charcoal and Coal?
Charcoal is made from wood at the Charcoal Kiln and fuels the Smelter. Coal is mined in the Albaneve Summits and burns in the Blast Furnace.
Is the Blast Furnace worth it for Enshrouded ore?
Yes, for different reasons. With tin, the 1.0 game data gives you a third more bars per ore. With copper and iron it stays at one bar per ore, but the furnace handles twice as much per run and needs no Charcoal.
Do I need a better pickaxe for every ore?
No source we checked says so. A better pickaxe deals more damage, so it mines faster.
