Enshrouded Map: All Regions, Levels and What 1.0 Opens Up
With version 1.0, the Enshrouded map is fully open for the first time. The known regions from Springlands to Veilwater Basin now get a new biome in the north, Cinder's Cradle, plus outer areas along the edge of the world with 6 more Shroud Roots. Your Flame level still decides the order, and area levels climb from 1 to the new player level cap of 50.
This guide lists every region of Embervale with its area level and required Flame level, explains what 1.0 changed on the world map, and covers how far the interactive maps have caught up.
๐บ๏ธ Every Region on the Enshrouded Map
The area levels and Flame levels come from the community wiki enshrouded.wiki.gg. Most of the level values there were last edited before the 1.0 release, and the pages we rechecked after launch still show the same numbers. Low Meadows and Blackmire are sub-biomes, which is why they sit inside their parent region in the table.
| Region | Area level | Flame level |
|---|---|---|
| Springlands | 1โ10 | 1โ2 |
| Low Meadows (part of Springlands) | not listed | โ |
| Revelwood | 10โ15 | 3 |
| Blackmire (part of Revelwood) | 13โ15 | โ |
| Nomad Highlands | 15โ20 | 4 |
| Kindlewastes | 20โ30 | 5 |
| Albaneve Summits | 30โ40 | 6โ8 |
| Veilwater Basin | 35โ45 | 8โ9 |
| Cinder's Cradle (new) | not listed yet | new Flame level |
The wiki splits the Kindlewastes in two: the northern half is a level 20 to 25 zone, the southern half runs from 25 to 30. Low Meadows has no level of its own on the wiki, which treats it as a sub-biome in the far east of the Springlands. How to strengthen your flame for the next region is covered in our guide to all Flame Altar levels.
๐ Our Take: Where the Levels Get Tight
The level ranges overlap in two places. Blackmire starts at 13, before Revelwood is done, and Veilwater Basin kicks in at 35 while you're still in the middle of the Albaneve Summits.
After 45, the Early Access regions leave a five-level gap up to the new cap of 50. That's exactly where Cinder's Cradle fits, even though Keen Games doesn't give the new biome an area level of its own.
๐ New in 1.0: Cinder's Cradle in the North
According to Keen Games' official changelog, the new area lies to the north, past the now open gates beyond Veilwater Basin. It has two layers. Below, lava flows through a barren wasteland full of ruins, parts of it swallowed by the Shroud. Above it, the Ancients lifted the earth into a realm of floating islands with their own wildlife and guardians.
Keen puts its size somewhere between Blackmire and Veilwater Basin. It brings 12 new Shroud Roots and a brand new enemy faction with 14 new enemy types. Before you head in, a new Flame level is waiting, and the Cinder's Cradle section of the changelog says it raises the Flame Altar cap to 15. Another line in the same changelog lists 16 altars once Flame level 11 is unlocked, so expect one of the two numbers to get cleaned up.
Locked chests and doors on the higher tiers also need a new set of lockpicks. The changelog calls them Archaic Lockpicks, and they start in Cinder's Cradle.
๐งญ What Else 1.0 Changes on the World Map
In the 1.0.0.0 changelog, Keen Games says the entire game world is now accessible. Here's what that means for the Enshrouded map:
- Edge of the world: The biomes, mainly the Springlands, Blackmire and the Kindlewastes, now stretch out to the world border. Those areas add new quests, points of interest and 6 new Shroud Roots in total. Keen says the density of points of interest is lower there than on the main path.
- Hollow Halls: Two new Hollow Halls are open, one in the Albaneve Summits and one in Veilwater Basin. For the second one, Keen suggests you bring your snorkel.
- Locked places: The main quest now leads through structures in older biomes, some of which had players hunting for a hidden entrance for years.
- Building: Most areas that used to be no-build zones are now open for player bases.
- Nomad Highlands: The path through the Shroud is easier to find, and there are 3 new save points in the Nomad Highlands Shroud. The Blackmire spire also got extra save points for the climb.
๐๏ธ Albaneve Summits: the Boss Arena Was Rebuilt
One location change affects nearly everyone who hasn't cleared the Summits yet. Per the changelog, the walkable area in the lair of the Albaneve Summits boss is wider now, so you fall or get knocked off the edge less often.
New grapple hook anchors help you get back onto solid ground. The Shroud that used to cover parts of the arena now sits below the walkable area. On top of that, Keen gave the boss a substantial health nerf.
The world also looks different. A new renderer shows terrain and voxel builds in much more detail at long range, and every biome has its own lighting, air moisture and height fog. If you scan a region from an Ancient Spire, landmarks are easier to spot.
๐ฒ Familiar Regions Look Different
Even if you know the old areas by heart, plan to reorient yourself. According to the changelog, Keen reworked terrain, vegetation and forest density in the Springlands, Revelwood, Blackmire and the Nomad Highlands. The transition from the Nomad Highlands to the Kindlewastes feels more natural now, and the tumbleweeds are gone from the Nomad Highlands for the time being.
Worth knowing as a new player: many early-game roads and enemy camps were reworked so you get lost less often. The Springlands and Revelwood also have more loot chests.
๐ Custom Map Markers and the Compass
Since 1.0 you can name custom map markers freely. The catch, per the changelog: only the player who placed a marker can see it, not the rest of the group. In co-op you still have to agree on meeting points yourselves. The compass also got finer markers to help with orientation.
How Ancient Spires reveal the map and how Flame Altars work as travel points is explained in our guide to Enshrouded fast travel. Everything else that changed in 1.0 is sorted by topic in our Enshrouded 1.0 patch notes.
๐ฑ Our Math: 18 New Skill Points on the Map
In total, 1.0 adds 18 new Shroud Roots according to the changelog: 12 in Cinder's Cradle and 6 in the outer areas. The community wiki says each destroyed root gives one skill point, and only once per root. In co-op you need to be online and nearby to get it. Clear every new root and you're looking at 18 extra skill points.
The changelog doesn't say whether Keen changed the value per root in 1.0. Since loading an old save in 1.0 resets your skill tree, the outer areas are worth a detour: six of those points sit in regions you already know from your old world. How to spend them again is covered in our guide to Enshrouded skill points.
๐ฅ๏ธ Interactive Maps After 1.0
The best-known interactive Enshrouded map is enshrouded.th.gl. It shows region names at each Ancient Spire and is available in the game's languages, English included.
The site keeps adding 1.0 content through update notes, so check those before you rely on it for the new areas. Until the outer areas and every new Shroud Root are confirmed there, the in-game map is the more reliable reference for anything added in 1.0.
โ๏ธ Resources by Region
A lot of players open the Enshrouded map to find ore. One 1.0 change matters here: Keen switched recipes that need stone to the stone variant of the matching biome. Before that, far too many recipes relied on Springlands stone, so plan to gather stone in the biome you're crafting for.
๐ก Tips for the New World Map
- Flame first, then the north: Without the new Flame level, Cinder's Cradle isn't a realistic option.
- Don't skip the edges: Six new Shroud Roots sit in biomes you already know.
- Name your markers: Custom names help, you just can't share them.
- Upgrade your lockpicks: Locked loot in Cinder's Cradle needs Archaic Lockpicks.
- Rethink your base spot: Many former no-build zones are open now.
