The Enshrouded 1.0 patch notes open the full map with the new Cinder's Cradle biome, raise the level cap to 50 and reset your skill tree the first time you load an old save. On top of that come nine new spell types, fully voiced lore notes and a logic system called Sparkworks.
Keen Games published the complete changelog on October 14, 2026, one day before the October 15 launch. We sorted several hundred entries by topic and pulled out what returning players should know before they log in.
โ ๏ธ Before your first launch: what happens to old saves
According to the Enshrouded 1.0 patch notes, three things happen the first time you load an Early Access save:
- Skill tree reset: Keen Games explicitly asks you to spend your skill points again. Dagger skills moved from the warrior area to the assassin tree, and several nodes changed position.
- Key bindings reset: New features forced custom bindings back to default. Dropping torches is now on R, playing and pausing voice-overs on L.
- New save format: Saves from version 0.8 or older are backed up first and then converted automatically.
Keen also names the save folder: on Windows it's C:\Users\[name]\Saved Games\keen games\Enshrouded\default. Character and world selection now have separate tabs for local saves and Steam Cloud. If your world seems to be missing, it's probably sitting in the other tab.
In its launch FAQ from October 13, Keen Games still recommends a fresh start, because the world and the first hours of play were heavily reworked. How to plan your points is covered in our Enshrouded skill points guide. If you play with mods, read our piece on Enshrouded mods at the 1.0 launch first.
๐บ๏ธ The full map and Cinder's Cradle
With 1.0, the entire world is accessible. The centerpiece is Cinder's Cradle, a new biome in the north behind the previously closed gates past Veilwater Basin.
The region has two layers: lava flows and ruins below, floating islands of the Ancients above, with their own wildlife and guardians. A new faction there brings 14 new enemy types. Counting new variants for the other factions, Keen Games says 37 new enemies join the game.
Other map changes in the Enshrouded 1.0 patch notes:
- Two new Hollow Halls in the Albaneve Summits and in Veilwater Basin.
- Edge regions: Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes now reach the edge of the world, with new quests and points of interest.
- Build almost anywhere: Most former no-build zones are open for player bases.
- Sorted quests: Main quests and side quests are now listed separately.
๐ฑ New Shroud Roots
Cinder's Cradle adds 12 new Shroud Roots, the new edge regions another 6. That's 18 new roots in total and extra skill points to go with them. The achievement for destroying all roots was updated, but if you already unlocked it, you keep it.
๐ Level 50, Flame Levels and altars
The max player level rises to 50, and gear can be upgraded to level 55. Before you enter Cinder's Cradle, a new Flame Level unlocks that allows up to 15 Flame Altars. Flame Level 11, the last one, raises the cap to 16.
For comparison, by our own math: before 1.0 you could run at most 10 altars from Flame Level 7 on. 16 altars means 60 percent more bases and fast travel points. Flame Level 11 also lets Flame Altars push back the Shroud, and the world settings let you lower the Flame Level required for that.
Getting there is cheaper, too. The recipes for Flame Levels 6 to 9 need fewer resources, and Electric Organs and Poison Stings were replaced with more common materials. Every level and its materials are listed in our Flame Altar levels guide.
๐ฎ Combat: spells, summons and ranged weapons
Mages get the biggest overhaul. The Enshrouded 1.0 patch notes list nine new spell types, including crowd control, area damage, summons and utility spells. Every spell now has an eternal version that never runs out of charges. Eternal spells and eternal arrows can be upgraded like weapons, and the crafting survivors for each combat class handle that.
- Summon skeletons: You can actively call skeletons to fight with you. Combined with new Necromancy weapon gems, that adds up to a small undead army, but the number of active summons is capped.
- Wands: a heavy attack from the start, evasive and aerial attacks as skills, and a free aim mode in the combat settings.
- New skills: among them Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct.
- Heavy melee attacks now hit several nearby enemies instead of only the first one.
Enemies now recover health over time when you leave the combat area instead of resetting instantly. Retry a boss quickly and part of its health is still missing. The Albaneve Summits boss has far less health, a new phase for melee players and a safer arena. Playstyles that fit the new tools are in our Enshrouded builds guide.
๐ซ๏ธ Shroud, loot and chests
Stacking several Shroud time extensions is now less effective, Keen Games writes. In return, hourglass capsules appear in many more places and add about 70 percent more time. Large Fell enemies drop them as well. How the timer works is covered in our Shroud timer guide.
- The chance for legendary items rises by 5 percent in all chests.
- Wooden chests can now hold a weapon or armor piece at silver chest level.
- Higher-tier locks need new lockpicks, starting with Archaic Lockpicks in Cinder's Cradle.
- Gold coins are a new resource that survivors accept, mostly in exchange for vanity items.
- Legendary items need legendary runes one upgrade step later than before.
๐ Base building, crafting and quality of life
Plenty of the small changes save time every session. These are the ones from the changelog most players will notice first:
- Upgrade chests in place: Storage chests can be converted to magic chests and upgraded without emptying them. Chests and custom map markers can be named freely.
- Free-flying building: The new skill Airborne Architect at the center of the skill tree lets you build while flying.
- Sparkworks: A logic system with its own 2D graph editor connects switches, traps, puzzles and enemy encounters. Use it to build parkour courses, arenas or escape rooms for Adventure Sharing.
- Loot pickup: Holding the interaction button collects scattered loot nearby, and a setting does it automatically. Containers, enemies and quest items are excluded.
- Fast travel from bed: You can now fast-travel while sleeping in a bed.
- Fishing: Every fish lives in every body of water. Bait decides what you catch, and improved bait guarantees a fish of its own tier.
- Faster production: Many factory and cooking recipes give more in less time, farm animals produce much faster and small plants grow faster.
- Factory limit: Each world now has a maximum number of factories. Keen calls it very generous and warns you before you hit it.
Also new: the Puke Potion, which removes all active food buffs. The Barber now offers either the classic or the new, more realistic body proportions.
๐ Voice-over in English, German and Mandarin
All notes, letters and books in the world are now voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese. The main crafting survivors and major quest givers talk now, too. Notes keep playing like an audiobook while you explore, and you can queue several of them in a playlist. For the German version, Keen Games cast Dietmar Wunder, the German voice of Daniel Craig.
Text language and voice-over language are set separately in the game settings. More voice-over languages are planned for later.
๐ฅ๏ธ Graphics and tech
- Brick renderer: Terrain and voxel builds keep far more detail at long distances.
- HDR is now supported, with its own calibration screen.
- Shader compilation after game updates or new GPU drivers takes much less time.
- Better performance on low-end graphics cards, handhelds and the Steam Deck, plus lower memory use.
Whether your PC keeps up is covered in our Enshrouded system requirements guide. Crossplay is not part of 1.0: according to the launch FAQ, there is no cross-platform play at launch, and Keen Games has not given a timeline.
๐ Rewards for Early Access players
If you bought Enshrouded during Early Access on PC, you don't pay again for 1.0. The launch FAQ lists three decorative base items exclusive to Early Access players, including a statue more than four meters tall and a tome with the Early Access logo. You redeem them in the escape menu under "Redeem Add-Ons".
Platforms, co-op sizes and the release timeline are collected in our Enshrouded 1.0 overview.
