Dune Awakening Map: Regions, Resources and Interactive Maps

The Dune Awakening map consists of two large play areas, Hagga Basin and the Deep Desert, connected through the Overland Map. Hagga Basin is persistent and fully PvE, while the Deep Desert gets reshuffled every week in multiplayer by the Coriolis Storm. In single-player mode, Funcom switches that reset off.

Below you'll find how the world is built, which regions matter, roughly where the key resources are, how to uncover the in-game map and which interactive maps exist. None of them come from Funcom.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ How the Dune Awakening Map Is Structured

Dune Awakening isn't one seamless open world but several separate areas. The official patch notes for Hotfix 1.5.3.6 confirm this when they talk about traveling "to Hagga Basin or the Deep Desert" via the Overland Map.

AreaWhat happens therePersistent?
Hagga BasinStart, base building, story, almost all early resourcesyes
Deep DesertEndgame, spice fields, testing stations, wrecksMultiplayer: weekly reset; solo: yes
OverlandTravel between areas, cities and Overland dungeonsyes

According to the community wiki, you reach the cities of Arrakeen and Harko Village through the Overland. With the conclusion of Book 1 on September 17, 2026, Funcom listed seven new locations (including Smuggler's Run, The Broodworks and Wind Pass) and six new Imperial Testing Stations, five of which are reachable from the Overland Map. Per the Update 1.5 patch notes, both cities can be visited in single-player mode.

๐Ÿœ๏ธ Hagga Basin and Its Regions

Hagga Basin is your home on Arrakis. Since Patch 1.3.20.0, the entire basin is PvE. The community wiki awakening.wiki splits it into these subregions:

RegionNotes from the community wiki
Hagga Basin SouthStarting area for every character
Vermillius Gap (Eastern and Western)iron-rich sands
Jabal Eifrit (Al-gharb, Al-janub, Al-sharq)mountains, carbon (see below)
Hagga Riftdeep canyon
Shield Wall (Eastern and Western)aluminum (per the wiki's ore page)
The O'odhamcomparatively lush
Mysa Tarillno description in the wiki yet
Sheolirradiated, far southwest corner

Two changes from Update 1.5 affect the south directly. New characters now spawn in a smaller area, "for better pacing" according to the patch notes. And in Hagga Basin South, the Base Reconstruction Tool no longer has a cooldown. How relocating a base works is covered in our move base guide.

The wiki lists four tradeposts in Hagga Basin: Griffin's Reach Tradepost, Pinnacle Station, The Anvil and The Crossroads Tradepost. Visiting all of them unlocks the "Merchant" achievement. On top of that, Riftwatch and Helius Gate each have their own visit achievement.

โ›๏ธ Where Resources Roughly Spawn

Funcom doesn't publish resource locations. The following comes from the community wiki and from in-game quest text. Treat it as orientation, not coordinates:

  • Carbon Ore: Jabal Eifrit. A side quest through the three parts of Jabal Eifrit says in its closing text that you'll come back here when you need carbon in large amounts. The recipe and the right Cutteray are in our steel guide.
  • Aluminum Ore: per the wiki in the north of Hagga Basin, with the Eastern Shield Wall as an example. It's also common in the Deep Desert.
  • Erythrite Crystal: per the wiki mainly in CHOAM mining facilities, plus at their entrances, in caves and scattered through the Hagga Rift.
  • Jasmium Crystal: Sheol, only with radiation protection. Details in our Duraluminum guide.
  • Titanium Ore and Stravidium Mass: per the wiki in the Deep Desert. They feed into Plastanium.

One note for cross-checking: the Deep Desert map on dune.gaming.tools has filters for Aluminum Ore, Erythrite Crystal, Jasmium Crystal and Stravidium Mass, among others. Going by those filters, these resources also appear there, not only in Sheol or the Hagga Rift.

๐ŸŒช๏ธ The Deep Desert and the Coriolis Storm

You enter the Deep Desert through the Overland and, since Patch 1.3.20.0, choose between the PvE and the PvP instance. Once a week in multiplayer, the Coriolis Storm rolls through. According to the community wiki, it destroys everything in the Deep Desert and most of the area changes. Only the locations along the Shield Wall in rows A and B stay fixed.

For you, that means every marker you set in the Deep Desert is worthless after the storm. Plan your route again after each reset. What exactly the storm wipes and why solo mode works differently is explained in our Coriolis Storm guide. How to farm the PvE instance is covered in the Deep Desert PvE guide.

๐Ÿ‘ค What's Different in Solo Mode

In single-player mode, the Deep Desert is "fully available" according to the Update 1.5 patch notes, but "the map will never reset". A Deep Desert you've explored stays the way it is. That makes your own notes useful there for the first time, beyond a single week.

There was one bug: until Hotfix 1.5.3.5 on September 30, 2026, surveyed areas in single-player mode could be lost after a restart. If you played before that, check your map and re-survey missing areas. The overview of the mode is in our single-player guide.

๐Ÿ”ญ Revealing the In-Game Dune Awakening Map

At the start, almost everything is hidden, and you uncover it by exploring. Three things help:

  • The "Cartographer" skill: per the Update 1.5 patch notes, it increases the radius in which you reveal hidden areas.
  • Survey Probe: the community wiki describes the Survey Probe as ammunition for the Survey Probe Launcher. You fire it high into the air to map the surrounding area. It's crafted in the Fabricator or Survival Fabricator from one Copper Ingot.
  • Flying: the map is revealed around your position, and an ornithopter gets you around fastest. How to get one is in our ornithopter guide.

Surveying every region of Hagga Basin unlocks the "Explorer" achievement. On Steam, 23.2 percent of players had it according to the global stats (as of October 8, 2026).

Smaller changes from Update 1.5 and the hotfixes: since 1.5.3.4, markers no longer disappear when other players are nearby. Update 1.5 also sped up map scrolling with a controller, which you'll notice on PS5 and Xbox. New compass markers for the clinics of Shaffat and Phrakk were added as well.

๐Ÿงญ Interactive Dune Awakening Map Options

We didn't find an interactive map from Funcom itself. There are two well-maintained fan projects, both unofficial:

SiteAreasHighlights
dune.gaming.toolsHagga Basin, Deep Desertfilters for locations, spice, enemy bases, trainers and resources; single-player toggle
awakening.wikiOverland, Hagga Basin, Deep Desertcommunity wiki with a map overview and separate pages for caves, wrecks, testing stations and outposts

The biggest difference is the Deep Desert. dune.gaming.tools runs it as a weekly map and says it's updated after every Coriolis Storm. When we checked on October 8, 2026, it covered October 6 to 13, on game version 1.5.3.6. There's also a countdown per server region to the next storm. That lets you plan the current week without flying the whole desert yourself first.

In solo mode, a weekly map is of limited use, because your Deep Desert no longer gets reshuffled. For Hagga Basin, both sites work equally well, since nothing changes there.

๐Ÿ’ก Navigation Tips

  • Iron in the Vermillius Gap: the community wiki describes the sands there as iron-rich. That's the obvious first stop for your first ingots.
  • A second base for carbon: if you need lots of steel, a base near Jabal Eifrit saves trips. How to pick a site is in our base building guide.
  • Deep Desert after the storm: in multiplayer, open the weekly map on dune.gaming.tools before you fly out.
  • Only go to Sheol prepared: without a radiation suit, the region is deadly.

โ“ Dune Awakening Map FAQ

Is there an official interactive Dune Awakening map?

We haven't found one. The known options on dune.gaming.tools and awakening.wiki are fan projects.

How big is the world of Dune Awakening?

Funcom doesn't give an area in square kilometers. In its dev blog from March 13, 2025, Funcom described the Deep Desert as nine times the size of Hagga Basin. The world consists of Hagga Basin, the Deep Desert and the Overland with cities and dungeons.

Does the Deep Desert change?

In multiplayer, yes, every week with the Coriolis Storm. According to the community wiki, the locations along the Shield Wall in rows A and B stay fixed. In single-player mode it never resets.

How do I reveal hidden areas faster?

With the "Cartographer" skill, which increases the reveal radius, with the Survey Probe, and from an ornithopter.

Where do I find carbon and Jasmium?

Carbon in Jabal Eifrit, Jasmium in Sheol. Both come from quest text and the community wiki, not from Funcom.

Is a new map coming?

Yes. On October 29, 2026, Funcom announced the date: the free Blood and Ice expansion launches on December 1, 2026, on PC, PS5 and Xbox. It brings the survival map Polar Sink in the north of Arrakis, with two biomes, tundra and ice cap. When Funcom first announced it on September 17, the map was still called Polar Cap.

๐Ÿ“š Sources and Status

World structure, solo rules, starting area, markers, compass markers and the "Cartographer" skill come from the official patch notes for Update 1.5 and the hotfixes up to 1.5.3.7 (October 9, 2026) on duneawakening.com. Polar Cap as a free update, the seven new locations and the testing stations come from Funcom's announcement "The new Dune: Awakening is here" from September 17, 2026. The Blood and Ice date and the Polar Sink map come from Funcom's news post "Free Blood and Ice Expansion Launches December 1" from October 29, 2026.

The Deep Desert size comparison comes from the dev blog of March 13, 2025. The PvE rule for Hagga Basin and the PvE/PvP instances of the Deep Desert come from the 1.3.20.0 patch notes. The spelling "Vermillius Gap" follows Funcom's blog and the community wiki.

Regions, tradeposts, resource locations, the Survey Probe and the fixed Deep Desert locations come from the community wiki awakening.wiki and aren't confirmed by Funcom. The carbon hint comes from quest text in the dune.gaming.tools database. We checked the interactive maps on the sites themselves on October 8, 2026. Checked against Update 1.5 as of October 2026, map FAQ updated November 1, 2026.
