Dune Awakening Coriolis Storm: Deep Desert Wipe in Single-Player (2026)

Dune Awakening Coriolis Storm: Deep Desert Wipe in Single-Player (2026)

Short answer: In Dune Awakening multiplayer, the weekly Coriolis storm still wipes the Deep Desert completely, so your base there is gone every week. The widely quoted all-clear, that the storm no longer kills instantly and no longer wipes the Deep Desert, appeared in the Public Test Client 1.5.1.0 patch notes only under the "Single-Player" heading and, with Update 1.5, still applies only to single-player mode.

That single-player mode has been live on all platforms since September 17, 2026 with Update 1.5, including PC. So if you read somewhere that the Deep Desert "no longer resets", that's single-player. On official multiplayer servers, nothing has changed.

โš ๏ธ The distinction almost everyone copies wrong

The Dune Awakening PTC notes of August 13, 2026 are structured hierarchically. Under NEW FEATURES there's a Single-Player block, and only inside it do the two key sentences appear. Word for word:

  • "The Deep Desert is fully available with all its content and challenges, but the map never resets and your buildings are never wiped."
  • "The Coriolis storm was converted into a very dangerous storm that no longer instantaneously kills the player and wipes the Deep Desert, thus allowing players to keep their progress in this map."

Both sentences describe single-player mode. The same patch notes contain no matching change for multiplayer, neither under FEATURES AND CHANGES nor under FIXES. Copy the body text without the subheading and you flip the statement into its exact opposite. That's precisely what's happening in many auto-summarized articles right now.

A second misunderstanding is worth clearing up: "no longer instantaneously kills" doesn't mean "harmless". According to the description, it's still a "very dangerous storm". In single-player it just no longer kills you the moment it catches you.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ What this means for your Deep Desert base planning

In Dune Awakening multiplayer, the rule of thumb experienced players have used for months still holds: don't build anything in the Deep Desert you'd hate to lose. Whatever you put up there is temporary infrastructure, an outpost for a week, not a home. Your permanent base belongs in the Hagga Basin (see our base building guide), which has been fully PvE across the entire map since patch 1.3.20.0, including the Shipwrecks.

For the weekly cycle, that means:

  • Build minimal. A vehicle drop-off point, an ornithopter landing pad and a small buffer storage are usually all a Deep Desert outpost needs.
  • Don't store anything you won't pick up within the week. The weekly wipe doesn't care about your schedule.
  • Use rows A and B. The points of interest along the Shield Wall in these two rows are fixed and aren't reset by the weekly wipe. They're the only reliable reference points on a map that otherwise reshuffles itself every week.
  • Logging out got easier. Patch 1.4.10.0 cut the logout timer in the PvE Deep Desert and in the PvE area of the PvP Deep Desert from five minutes to 30 seconds.

In single-player, this logic flips completely (which sliders matter there is covered in our guide to the single-player settings). If the map never resets and buildings are never deleted, the Deep Desert becomes a regular place to settle. A fully built spice operation deep in the back rows makes sense there. In multiplayer, the same setup would be gone a week later.

๐ŸŽฏ PvE or PvP instance: decide before the first building piece

Since patch 1.3.20.0, every official Dune Awakening World has at least one PvE and one PvP instance of the Deep Desert. When you enter from the Overland map, the instance selector shows which version you're landing in. That's not cosmetic. It decides your risk and your yield.

InstancePvPHarvesting yieldBest for
PvE Deep DesertNo PvPNormalRelaxed farming, hunting schematics
PvP Deep DesertFrom the B row outside the Shield Wall area2.5x yield from mining and harvesting all resources in PvP areasTrading risk for throughput

The second reason to go into the Deep Desert at all is non-combat Uniques. With 1.3.20.0, their drop rate there was increased to raise the chance at schematics that aren't available in the Overland map dungeons. Routes for that are in our Deep Desert PvE guide.

๐Ÿ’ก What actually makes sense in multiplayer

An honest look at the cost: a Deep Desert outpost in Dune Awakening multiplayer doesn't just cost you materials, it costs you the same build every single week. Play for six weeks and you build the same structure six times. That only makes sense if the outpost earns more during that one week than it costs, typically when you harvest spice in the PvP area at 2.5x yield.

  • Move your spice logistics to the Hagga Basin. Refineries and storage belong there. Only the harvesting belongs in the Deep Desert.
  • Think a character transfer through first. You can move a character from an official server to a private or self-hosted server, but not back. That decision is final.
  • Single-player characters stay single-player. You can't transfer a character from single-player mode to a server.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions about the Dune Awakening Coriolis storm

Does the Coriolis storm still wipe my base in the Deep Desert?
In multiplayer, yes, still every week. Only in single-player mode, live since September 17, 2026, do the map and your buildings stay.

Does the Coriolis storm change also apply to official servers?
No. According to the Update 1.5 patch notes, the change only applies to single-player mode. Even in the PTC 1.5.1.0 notes it was listed under "NEW FEATURES โ€“ Single-Player". There's no matching change for multiplayer.

Is the storm harmless in single-player, then?
No. The patch notes describe it as a "very dangerous storm". It just no longer kills you instantly and doesn't wipe the map.

Which parts of the Deep Desert stay stable in multiplayer?
The points of interest along the Shield Wall in rows A and B are fixed and aren't reset by the weekly wipe.

Is the PvP instance worth it despite the wipe?
For pure farming, yes: in PvP areas, mining and harvesting yield is increased by a factor of 2.5. The wipe hits both instances equally. The risk is what differs.

Can I take my character into single-player mode?
No. Single-player characters stay in single-player mode, and characters from official servers can only be moved to private or self-hosted servers, not back.
