Dune Awakening Duraluminum: Recipe, Jasmium and Radiation Protection

Dune Awakening Duraluminum: Recipe, Jasmium and Radiation Protection

For Dune Awakening Duraluminum, you need Jasmium Crystals from the irradiated south of Sheol, an Aluminum Ingot and water, processed in the Medium or Large Ore Refinery. You can only mine Jasmium starting with the Cutteray Mk4, and without a Radiation Suit you last only seconds in the crystal pools.

Duraluminum is the material tier between aluminum and Plastanium. As soon as you want tier 5 tools, armor or buggy parts, there's no way around it. Below are both recipes with Update 1.5 values, the route to Jasmium and a calculation of how long you really last in the radiation zone.

โš’๏ธ The Dune Awakening Duraluminum Recipe per Refinery

The Duraluminum Ingot is made in the Ore Refinery, not the Chemical Refinery. The item database dune.gaming.tools, which reads its values from the game files, lists two recipes for version 1.5.3.3:

StationJasmium CrystalAluminum IngotWaterTime
Medium Ore Refinery414005 s
Large Ore Refinery314004 s

So the Large Ore Refinery saves you one crystal out of four. Water is the same. Watch out with English guides and the community wiki awakening.wiki: depending on the page, they still list 500 or 650 ml of water per ingot. According to the official patch notes, Update 1.5 included a balance pass on crafting and build costs for the aluminum, Duraluminum and Plastanium tiers. The wiki numbers very likely predate it.

The Aluminum Ingot is its own step in the same refinery. According to the database, it costs 7 Aluminum Ore and 150 water in the Medium Ore Refinery (30 seconds), and 4 Aluminum Ore and 150 water in the Large one (20 seconds).

๐Ÿงฎ What One Ingot Really Costs

Counting the aluminum step, a single Duraluminum Ingot looks like this:

  • Medium Ore Refinery: 4 Jasmium Crystals, 7 Aluminum Ore, 550 water
  • Large Ore Refinery: 3 Jasmium Crystals, 4 Aluminum Ore, 550 water

Scale that up to a real goal. The Cutteray Mk5 needs 30 ingots, the Radiation Suit Mk5 even 36. Together that's 66 ingots, so 264 crystals in the medium station or 198 in the large one. On top of that comes 36,300 water, whichever refinery you use.

A detail that helps with hauling: according to the database, one Jasmium Crystal takes 0.4 volume, while a finished ingot takes 0.9 per the community wiki. Four crystals at 1.6 volume take up almost twice the space of the Duraluminum they turn into. If you farm a lot, process close to the deposits. PC Gamer recommends a second base at the edge of the radiation zone for that. What to watch for with site and power is in our base building guide.

๐Ÿ“ Finding Jasmium Crystals: Sheol in Hagga Basin

According to the community wiki, Sheol lies in the far southwest corner of the Hagga Basin map and is where Jasmium Crystals are found. The wiki doesn't say exactly where in the region the deposits are. PC Gamer describes the spot as the southern middle part of Sheol, recognizable by large crystals in yellowish pools, and recommends approaching from the southwest. That guide dates from June 2025, long before Update 1.5, and it also notes that exact mining spots can shift. Don't count on fixed coordinates.

The locations the wiki lists for Sheol help with orientation: the caves Dis, Greed, Limbo, Lust, Wrath and Shaitan's Grotto, the enemy outpost Edge of Acheron, and several wrecks, including the Euporia, Leto and Tartarus.

If farming is too hot for you, there's a shortcut. The database lists Arkady Demidenko with 72 crystals in stock at 900 each. Two more ore vendors, which the database only lists under internal O'odham and Shield Wall labels, sell 40 each at 1,200. That's expensive for a full Radiation Suit, but an option for the last few missing crystals.

๐Ÿ”ฆ The Right Cutteray for Jasmium

The Cutteray Mk3 won't get you far with Jasmium. According to the community wiki, it mines aluminum but not Jasmium. The first Cutteray for Jasmium is the Cutteray Mk4 (listed in the community wiki as Industrial Cutteray Mk4). The database gives it 72 percent efficiency on Jasmium and 48 percent on aluminum.

ToolJasmiumRecipe (excerpt)
Cutteray Mk472%18 Aluminum Ingot, 12 EMF Generator, 11 Cobalt Paste, 6 Ray Amplifier, 170 water
Cutteray Mk5114%30 Duraluminum Ingot, 14 EMF Generator, 12 Cobalt Paste, 8 Ray Amplifier, 5 Thermoelectric Cooler, 350 water
Buggy Cutteray Mk5214%72 Duraluminum Ingot, 32 Particle Capacitor, 27 Cobalt Paste, 18 Ray Amplifier, 8 Thermoelectric Cooler, 790 water

You build both handheld tools in the Survival Fabricator and the buggy attachment in the Vehicle Fabricator. The community wiki lists 149 percent on Jasmium for the Cutteray Mk6.

The order is clear: with the Mk4 you get your first Duraluminum and use it to build the Mk5. The jump from 72 to 114 percent is significant. Ray Amplifiers are the bottleneck here; where to find them is in our guide to Dune Awakening components.

โ˜ข๏ธ Radiation Protection: Suit, Iodine Pill and Some Math

Without protection, you die fast in Sheol. According to the database, the Radiation Suit Mk4 is the first tier and mitigates radiation by 90 percent. You craft it in the Garment Fabricator from 27 Aluminum Ingots, 15 Plasteel Microflora Fiber, 20 Silicone Blocks and 260 water. The tiers above only add a few percentage points:

SuitRadiation mitigationMain material
Radiation Suit Mk490%27 Aluminum Ingot
Radiation Suit Mk592%36 Duraluminum Ingot
Radiation Suit Mk693%45 Plastanium Ingot

Now our own math. The community wiki describes three radiation levels and a cap of 150,000 radiation before you die. Without protection, you take 1,500 per second at level 1 according to the wiki, and 15,000 at level 3 in the radiation pools. That means:

  • No suit: 100 seconds at level 1, 10 seconds in a pool
  • Mk4 (90%): just under 17 minutes at level 1, 100 seconds in a pool
  • Mk5 (92%): about 125 seconds in a pool

These numbers are our own calculation using community values from awakening.wiki (page "Radiation", last edited October 3, 2026), not confirmed by Funcom. They also assume the suit simply reduces radiation per second by its percentage. The direction holds, though: the Mk4 suit is enough for farming, just don't stand in the pool itself. Upgrading to Mk5 costs 36 ingots and buys you 25 more seconds in a pool.

The Iodine Pill shortens the time radiation takes to break down in your body, according to its item text, and adds protection when combined with a Radiation Suit. It's made in the Survival Fabricator: 1 Duraluminum Ingot, 2 Agave Seeds, 2 Spice Melange and 130 water give you 5 pills. A side quest in Sheol walks you through researching, crafting and taking it.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ What You Need Duraluminum For

The database counts 194 recipes in Dune Awakening that contain Duraluminum. The main groups:

  • Tools: Cutteray Mk5, Power Pack Mk5 and tier 5 gathering tools
  • Armor: Radiation Suit Mk5, heavy Atreides armor pieces and several other tier 5 sets
  • Vehicles: almost every tier 5 buggy part, from chassis and engine to the Buggy Cutteray Mk5
  • Weapons: for example the Arhun K-28 Lasgun

Which armor is worth the effort is covered in our armor tier list. After that comes Plastanium as the next tier, and the Radiation Suit Mk6 already requires Plastanium Ingots. Recipe and supply chain are in our Plastanium guide.

Water becomes the bigger cost with every tier. The 66 ingots from the calculation above alone eat more than 36,000 water before a single tool is built. How to expand your supply is in our water guide.

๐Ÿ’ก Dune Awakening Duraluminum FAQ

Where do I make Duraluminum in Dune Awakening?

In the Medium or the Large Ore Refinery. The Chemical Refinery can't do the recipe.

Which Cutteray mines Jasmium in Dune Awakening?

The Cutteray Mk4 is the first, at 72 percent efficiency. According to the community wiki, the Mk3 only handles aluminum.

Is there Jasmium outside of Sheol?

The community wiki names Sheol as the source of Jasmium Crystals and doesn't describe any other mining area. The German site Mein-MMO also says Jasmium only exists in Sheol. You can buy crystals from Arkady Demidenko and two other ore vendors.

Is the Radiation Suit Mk4 enough for Sheol?

For normal radiation, yes, with 90 percent mitigation. In level 3 pools, you last about 100 seconds according to the math above.

Why does the wiki show a different water value?

Update 1.5 rebalanced the costs of the Duraluminum tier. The database at version 1.5.3.3 lists 400 water per ingot, while the wiki partly still shows older values.

Does radiation damage my vehicle?

According to the community wiki, no. That makes the buggy with a Cutteray attachment doubly worth it in Sheol: more efficiency and no vehicle damage.

Checked against Dune Awakening Update 1.5 (live since September 17, 2026, regular release on PS5 and Xbox since September 22, 2026) as of October 2026, latest Hotfix 1.5.3.7 from October 9, 2026. According to the official patch notes, Hotfixes 1.5.3.1 through 1.5.3.7 don't change Jasmium, Duraluminum, Cutterays or radiation. Patch 1.5.15.0 is only on the Public Test Client so far and also lists no such changes.

Recipes, efficiency values and vendors come from the database dune.gaming.tools (read from the game files, version 1.5.3.3). Locations and radiation values come from the community wiki awakening.wiki plus guides by PC Gamer and Mein-MMO from June 2025, and aren't confirmed by Funcom.
