Dune Awakening Complex Machinery: Locations, Vendors and All 25 Recipes

Dune Awakening Complex Machinery can't be crafted: you loot it in Ironworks and testing stations or buy it from vendors for 500 Solaris apiece. According to the community wiki it goes into 25 recipes, almost all of them vehicle engines, and by our own math those recipes add up to 513 units.

Below you'll find every known way to get it, the full recipe list with amounts per Mk tier, and our own numbers on how much Complex Machinery your vehicle fleet really eats.

Moving up from the Sandbike to a Buggy or Scout Ornithopter in Dune Awakening, most players hit the wall at the Vehicle Fabricator. Steel and aluminum have been running through the refinery for ages, but the engine stays grayed out. Nine times out of ten, this is the part that's missing.

โš™๏ธ What Complex Machinery is

The community wiki awakening.wiki has listed the component since version 1.1.0. Its item text says these parts sit inside many older fabricators and refineries but can't easily be fabricated themselves. The wiki shows no recipe for it, and the dune.gaming.tools database only listed vendors, no recipe, when we last checked it.

That base price of 50 isn't what you pay. It's the internal base value the sell price is derived from. Buying from a vendor costs ten times as much.

๐Ÿ“ Where to find Complex Machinery in Dune Awakening

Neither Funcom nor the community wiki names specific spawn spots or drop chances. The locations below come from player guides by method.gg, Sportskeeda and Gamewatcher. They agree with each other, but none of it is officially confirmed, and some of these guides date back to June 2025.

  • Ironworks in the Vermillius Gap: All three guides name the Ironworks in the eastern and western Vermillius Gap as the best source. According to method.gg there's a Southwest Ironworks and a Southeast Ironworks, each with two buildings, so four facilities per run.
  • Old generators and ore refineries: The components sit in containers right next to these machines. Gamewatcher and Sportskeeda both point to the ore refineries specifically.
  • Imperial Testing Stations: These also have fabricators, generators and refineries, but Gamewatcher calls the yield thin.

The Vermillius Gap is part of the Hagga Basin, so you don't need a trip to the Deep Desert for this. Our Dune Awakening map guide shows where the region sits.

method.gg puts a full run through all four buildings at roughly 120 to 150 Complex Machinery. That's a player figure without a version number, so check what a run actually gives you on your server.

๐Ÿ›’ Where to buy Complex Machinery

According to dune.gaming.tools (data version 1.5.3.7, checked on October 27, 2026), five vendors sell Complex Machinery for 500 Solaris each, with a stock of 25 apiece:

  • Ormuna Laaks
  • Kahraman Reis
  • Tyg Rolsum
  • Soha Sirrendrin
  • Beatriz Luna

Gamewatcher quotes the same 500 Solaris price but no vendor names. All five vendors together hold 125 units, which comes to 62,500 Solaris for the whole stock. If that's more than you have, the Solaris farming guide covers the fastest ways to earn it. None of the sources say when vendor stock restocks.

๐Ÿ“‹ All 25 recipes that use Complex Machinery

All amounts come from the community wiki (page last edited October 5, 2026, status "In Review"). Vehicle parts are made at the Vehicle Fabricator, Mk6 at the Advanced Vehicle Fabricator, 20 seconds each.

The unique Mk6 engines for the Bluddshot Buggy and Mohandis Sandbike don't show up here. Instead of Complex Machinery they take 30 Advanced Machinery. For more on the vehicles themselves, see our guides to the Buggy, the Sandbike and the Sandcrawler.

Ornithopter parts

PartMk4Mk5Mk6
Scout Ornithopter Engine82130
Assault Ornithopter Engineโ€“2130
Carrier Ornithopter Engineโ€“โ€“30

On top of that, the Scout Ornithopter Scan Module needs 23 Complex Machinery, plus 55 Aluminum Ingot, 31 Particle Capacitor, 27 Cobalt Paste and 507 Water. The wiki doesn't list a tier for it. How to unlock all three thopters is covered in the ornithopter guide.

Other recipes

  • Advanced Machinery: 3 Complex Machinery, 2 Plasteel Plate, 1 Cobalt Paste and 50 Water at the Advanced Survival Fabricator, 3 seconds.
  • Scrap Buggy Engine: 3 Complex Machinery, plus 1 Steel Ingot and 12 Particle Capacitor.
  • Scrap Light Ornithopter Engine: 4 Complex Machinery, plus 1 Aluminum Ingot and 13 Particle Capacitor.

Almost every engine also needs Cobalt Paste and Particle Capacitors next to the Complex Machinery, so keep those stocked before you queue up a batch.

๐Ÿงฎ Our math: what your vehicle fleet costs

We ran the 25 wiki recipes through Python and priced them at the 500 Solaris vendor rate.

GoalComplex MachineryPurchase value in Solaris
Buggy Engine Mk3 to Mk6 (one of each)7638,000
Sandbike Engine Mk3 to Mk67638,000
Scout Ornithopter Engine Mk4 to Mk65929,500
These three lines combined211105,500
All 25 recipes once each513256,500

Three takeaways matter for planning:

  • Vendor stock won't get you far. The 125 units from all five vendors cover only a bit more than half of the three standard lines (211 units, a factor of 1.69).
  • Unique engines cost 1.7 times as much. At Mk3 to Mk5 the Bluddshot and Mohandis engines each need about 70 percent more than the standard part, for example 36 instead of 21 at Mk5.
  • Unique Mk6 is three times as expensive. 30 Advanced Machinery contain 90 Complex Machinery, while the standard Mk6 engine needs just 30. At vendor prices that's 45,000 instead of 15,000 Solaris, not counting the Plasteel Plates.

An Ironworks run at 120 to 150 units, as method.gg reports, is worth four to five Mk6 engines and 60,000 to 75,000 Solaris at vendor prices. That's roughly the entire vendor stock. So farming pays off as soon as you're upgrading more than one vehicle.

One open planning question from the numbers: per the community wiki, the Buggy Engine Mk5 recipe doesn't use a Mk4 part. It takes Duraluminum Ingot, Cobalt Paste, Particle Capacitors, Hydraulic Pistons, Water and 21 Complex Machinery. Skipping Mk4 would save you 15 units. None of our sources confirm, though, whether research unlocks the Mk5 assembly without a built Mk4 vehicle. Where to get the metal for Mk5 is in the Duraluminum guide.

โš ๏ธ Where the Dune Awakening sources disagree

For the Buggy Engine Mk3, both sources agree on the Complex Machinery amount: ten. The other ingredients differ. The community wiki lists 30 Particle Capacitors, while dune.gaming.tools (data version 1.5.3.3) shows only 8, as covered in our Buggy guide. For the Mk6 engines, the 30 units match the database values we checked earlier.

Whether the wiki really captures every recipe is still open, since the page is marked "In Review". What your fabricator shows is what counts.
