- โ FAQ about the Dune Awakening Buggy
You build the Dune Awakening Buggy from a Chassis, Hull, Rear or Utility Rear, Engine, PSU and four Treads at the Vehicle Fabricator, starting at Mk3 (steel). You unlock the schematic in the Vehicles research tab, and everything is put together with the Welding Torch.
This guide shows every part with its recipe, the choice between Rear and Utility Rear, Cutteray and Rocket Launcher, the unique parts and how much fuel the Buggy burns.
๐ Research: how to unlock the Dune Awakening Buggy
Under Vehicles in the research menu, each tier has its own Buggy assembly entry, from Mk3 to Mk6. According to the community database dune.gaming.tools (read from the game files), Mk3 costs 15 Intel, Mk4 30, Mk5 45 and Mk6 60 Intel. Each section only opens once you've spent 100, 300, 700 or 1,200 Intel in total.
According to the database, each assembly entry covers seven items, one for each part type in the table below. The add-on modules are separate research entries: Booster, Cutteray and Storage from Mk3, the Rocket Launcher only from Mk5. They cost 10 Intel at Mk3 and 10 more per tier, so 40 at Mk6.
There's no Buggy assembly below Mk3. The community wiki does list Scrap versions of the parts, but the database only shows Mk3 to Mk6 as buildable tiers. If you're still working with copper in Dune Awakening, stick with the Sandbike until steel production is running.
๐ง The required Buggy parts at Mk3
In the English client each part follows the pattern "Buggy Chassis Mk3", so the table only lists the part name. Everything is crafted at the Vehicle Fabricator, and each part takes 20 seconds. All values come from dune.gaming.tools, data version 1.5.3.3.
| Part | Function | Recipe Mk3 |
|---|---|---|
| Chassis | Frame, durability 3,500, armor 750, fuel capacity 240 | 135 Water, 30 Steel Ingot, 12 Advanced Servoks, 13 Cobalt Paste |
| Hull | Driver and passenger seat | 135 Water, 30 Steel Ingot, 12 Advanced Servoks, 13 Cobalt Paste |
| Rear | Two passenger seats, one utility slot | Same as Hull, plus 13 Armor Plating |
| Utility Rear | One turret slot, one utility slot | Same as Hull, plus 13 Armor Plating |
| Engine | Medium acceleration, 75 km/h, power use 15.4/s | 135 Water, 20 Steel Ingot, 8 Particle Capacitor, 13 Cobalt Paste, 10 Complex Machinery |
| PSU | Temperature value 3.80, fuel efficiency 89.50 | 135 Water, 20 Steel Ingot, 15 Particle Capacitor, 13 Cobalt Paste |
| Tread | Grip 65, vibration level 15 | 45 Water, 5 Steel Ingot, 4 Advanced Servoks, 4 Cobalt Paste |
Rear and Utility Rear are mutually exclusive, you mount exactly one of them. According to the community wiki awakening.wiki you need four Treads, and all four must be the same tier. The wiki shows higher amounts for several parts (7 Servoks per Tread, for example), while the database at 1.5.3.3 lists the values above. Go by what your fabricator shows.
๐ฆ What a full Mk3 Buggy costs
Our own math from the recipes above, with Rear and four Treads: 855 Water, 150 Steel Ingot, 52 Advanced Servoks, 81 Cobalt Paste, 23 Particle Capacitor, 13 Armor Plating and 10 Complex Machinery. Steel you smelt on the side, but the 52 Servoks have to be crafted or found.
Materials climb steeply with each tier. The Mk4 Chassis wants 260 Water and 41 Aluminum Ingot plus 6 Carbide Scraps, Mk5 already 530 Water and 54 Duraluminum Ingot. For Mk6 you need the Advanced Vehicle Fabricator, and the Chassis alone eats 830 Water, 85 Plastanium Ingot and 55 Spice Melange. Plan your water early; the base building guide shows how to scale your supply.
| Chassis | Armor | Fuel capacity | Main metal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mk3 | 750 | 240 | 30 Steel Ingot |
| Mk4 | 1,000 | 260 | 41 Aluminum Ingot |
| Mk5 | 1,250 | 280 | 54 Duraluminum Ingot |
| Mk6 | 1,500 | 300 | 85 Plastanium Ingot |
The Buggy Chassis keeps 3,500 durability at every tier. What changes is armor and tank size.
๐ซ Utility Rear: Cutteray or Rocket Launcher
In Dune Awakening the Utility Rear is the reason many players build a Buggy at all. It has a turret slot plus a utility slot. According to the community wiki it costs you a seat: instead of two passengers in the back there's room for only one, so you ride three up.
The Buggy Cutteray turns the vehicle into a mobile mining rig. Mk3 costs 200 Water, 30 Steel Ingot, 25 Particle Capacitor, 17 Cobalt Paste and 10 Ray Amplifier. It mines Copper, Granite and Salvaged Metal at 195 percent, Iron at 135 and Carbon and Erythrite at 112 percent.
Basalt, Aluminum, Jasmium, Titanium and Stravidium sit at 0 percent on Mk3. On top of that come 6.7 heat and 21.5 power use per second.
Important: according to the community wiki, the mining laser needs a Storage module mounted, otherwise the ore has nowhere to go. That's exactly what the Utility Rear's second slot is for. Cutteray plus Storage is the standard setup for mining runs.
The Buggy Rocket Launcher only arrives at Mk5. According to the database it deals 379.05 damage with a 7 meter effect radius, fires once per second and adds 12.5 heat per shot. Recipe: 790 Water, 54 Duraluminum Ingot, 32 Advanced Servoks, 27 Cobalt Paste, 15 Range Finder and 9 Spice Melange. The community wiki lists higher amounts. Go by the value your fabricator shows.
โก Storage and Booster for the utility slot
Buggy Storage Mk3 adds 20 item slots and 1,500 maximum volume. It costs 200 Water, 30 Steel Ingot, 12 Advanced Servoks and 9 Cobalt Paste. The utility slot exists on both the regular Rear and the Utility Rear, so you can also ride four up with a trunk.
The Buggy Booster briefly raises acceleration and top speed. Mk3 has a boost value of 7 but 125 extra heat. Recipe: 200 Water, 30 Steel Ingot, 30 Particle Capacitor, 17 Cobalt Paste and 25 Holtzman Actuator. Since both modules share the same slot, you choose: speed or cargo.
โจ Unique parts: Bluddshot, Rattler, Bigger Buggy Boot
Four parts also come as unique variants, each from Mk3 to Mk6. According to the database, their schematics drop in Hagga Basin and some are sold by vendors. All four also require Spice-infused Steel Dust.
| Unique part (Mk3) | Difference from the standard part |
|---|---|
| Bluddshot Buggy Engine | Fast acceleration instead of Medium, but per the database 65 instead of 75 km/h (the community wiki says 75 km/h) |
| Rattler Boost Module | Same boost value 7, only 75 instead of 125 extra heat (Mk6: boost value 10, also 75 instead of 125) |
| Bigger Buggy Boot | 1,750 instead of 1,500 volume, still 20 item slots |
| Focused Buggy Cutteray | 243 / 168 / 146 percent yield, but 10 instead of 6.7 heat per second |
For mining runs the Focused Buggy Cutteray pays off most, as long as you keep an eye on the heat. The Bluddshot engine is more for short trips with lots of stops.
You can also get parts without research. According to the official 1.5.3.0 patch notes, the Lost & Found contract now rewards Buggy modules. Per the database, individual parts also sit in testing station containers, and the vendors Kahraman Reis and Beatriz Luna sell standard parts, such as the Mk3 Chassis for 30,000 Solaris.
โฝ Buggy fuel: tank, consumption and cells
You refuel with vehicle fuel cells from the Chemical Refinery. The Small Vehicle Fuel Cell takes 25 Fuel Cells in the Small Chemical Refinery or 20 in the Medium one. The Medium Sized Vehicle Fuel Cell costs 40 Fuel Cells and 15 Water, the Large Vehicle Fuel Cell 80 Fuel Cells and 30 Water, both in the Medium Chemical Refinery.
Careful with the spice cells: the Spice-infused Fuel Cell powers your base's Spice-Powered Generator and doesn't work in vehicles.
Our own math: the Mk3 Chassis holds 240 fuel, the Engine draws 15.4 power per second. How exactly that consumption converts into tank fill isn't stated in the database. Compared directly, though, the Buggy does worse than the Sandbike, which uses only 6.5 per second on a 120 tank. Double the tank, almost two and a half times the consumption: bring spare cells on longer trips.
๐๏ธ Buggy, Sandbike or ornithopter?
In Dune Awakening the Mk3 Sandbike at 85.1 km/h is faster than the Buggy with a standard engine (75 km/h) and more economical, but with a back seat it carries one passenger at most. The Buggy wins on armor, seats and cargo, and unlike the Sandbike it has a turret slot for a Cutteray or rockets.
The ornithopter flies over everything that blocks you on the ground. How to unlock one is in the ornithopter guide. For groups mining ore together, the Buggy with a Cutteray is the obvious choice in Dune Awakening, because it combines mining and cargo for three people in one vehicle. Where to take it next is covered in the Deep Desert PvE guide.
โ FAQ about the Dune Awakening Buggy
From which tier can I build the Buggy?
From Mk3, so with steel. According to the database, the Mk3 assembly costs 15 Intel and unlocks once you've spent 100 Intel.
How many people fit in it?
With Hull and regular Rear, four: driver plus three passengers. With the Utility Rear, three, according to the community wiki.
Can I mount a Cutteray and a Rocket Launcher at the same time?
No. According to the community wiki, both share the single turret slot of the Utility Rear. The Rocket Launcher also only arrives at Mk5.
Why isn't my Cutteray collecting anything?
Without a Storage module, the mining laser has nowhere to put the ore, according to the community wiki. Put Storage or the Bigger Buggy Boot in the utility slot.
What fuel does it use?
Small, medium or large vehicle fuel cells from the Chemical Refinery. Spice-infused Fuel Cells don't work.
Is the Bluddshot engine worth it?
Only if acceleration matters more to you than top speed. It accelerates faster, but per the database it only reaches 65 instead of 75 km/h at Mk3.
