How to Unlock Fables and Frontiers in Warframe: The 3 Requirements (2026)

How to Unlock Fables and Frontiers in Warframe: The 3 Requirements (2026)

You can only unlock Fables and Frontiers once three conditions for Running Late are met at the same time: you've finished The Hex quest including the finale, you're at rank 5 (“Pizza Party”) with The Hex Syndicate, and you have Chemistry rank 5 (“Close”) with Amir in the KIM. The campaign doesn't start from a menu. It starts on the second floor of the Höllvania Central Mall in the room “Höllvandeim”, where you ring the bell on the table and Amir shows up.

The content arrived with Update 43.5 on August 12, 2026 and is a permanent part of the game. It isn't tied to the current Nightwave, so you don't miss anything if you only get there in two weeks. That's the good news. The bad news: starting from zero, it's not a few hours but weeks, and nothing changes that, because both progress systems have daily caps.

⚠️ Unlocking Fables and Frontiers: the three requirements

Digital Extremes lists exactly three conditions in the 43.5.0 patch notes. All three have to be met. There's no platinum shortcut, no skip and no alternative route.

🗺️ The start room almost nobody finds

This is where most players get stuck, even with all three conditions met: there's no quest marker and no entry in the navigation menu. You have to walk there.

  • Travel from POM-2 to the Höllvania Central Mall.
  • Go up to the second floor. The room is called “Höllvandeim” and used to be the café. Inside are a game table and a Fablemaster station.
  • There's a bell on the table. The patch notes say: “Ring the bell on the table to call in Amir.” He'll show up.
  • In the conversation, you create your character sheet: you choose class, weapons and abilities through dialogue options.
  • Then it's back to POM-2, and the campaign runs in the KIM as a text adventure.

The campaign covers six days of adventure with one session per day. New sessions unlock after the daily reset (0:00 UTC). So again: no binge-playing it in one evening.

🎯 Requirement 1: The Hex including the finale

To unlock Fables and Frontiers, you need not just the main quest but also the finale. If you played the quest a while ago and left the finale, that's your blocker. The fastest check: open Codex, then Quests, and see whether The Hex is marked as fully complete. If a step is still open, do that first. Nothing else helps, because without the completed quest line the Höllvandeim isn't a destination for you.

💰 Requirement 2: Hex rank 5 “Pizza Party”

This is the most expensive part of unlocking Fables and Frontiers. The community-run wiki at wiki.warframe.com lists the Hex Syndicate ranks like this:

RankTitleStanding cap at this rankUnlocks
0Neutral5,000basic wares
1Leftovers22,000rank 1 wares
2Fresh Slice44,000Chemistry rank “Friendly”
32-For-170,000Chemistry rank “Liked”
4Hot & Fresh99,000Chemistry rank “Trusted”
5Pizza Party132,000Chemistry rank “Close,” Temporal Archimedea, Minerva's rank 5 wares

Add up the caps from Neutral to Hot & Fresh and you get 240,000 Standing you have to earn before Pizza Party opens. Now the math that explains the timeline: your daily Standing cap is 16,000 + (Mastery Rank × 500) per the wiki. An MR 10 player gets 21,000 Standing per day. Neither the patch notes nor the wiki's Hex page give a separate number for The Hex, so the table below is a calculation based on that general formula.

Mastery RankStanding per dayDays to 240,000 (Hex only)
MR 820,00012
MR 1222,00011
MR 1624,00010
MR 2026,00010

That's a best case that assumes you put your whole daily cap into Hex Standing and never skip a day. Per the wiki, you earn it through bounties in Höllvania and by trading Hex Treasures to Leticia (750 to 2,500 Standing per item). Completing all three Temporal Archimedea missions gives another 15,000 Standing, but those only open at rank 5 and don't help you get there.

The fastest route in practice: run the Höllvania bounties daily, don't leave Hex Treasures lying around, and actually max out your cap every day. A missed day is a lost day, since Standing caps don't carry over.

🧪 Requirement 3: Chemistry rank 5 “Close” with Amir

The KIM Chemistry rank is tied to the Hex rank. Per the wiki, “Close” requires 250 Chemistry, 10 dialogues and Hex rank 5. The tiers below are linked the same way:

Chemistry rankChemistryDialoguesHex rank
Friendly4022
Liked9043
Trusted16074
Close250105

The key line from the wiki: “All activities are available once per day resetting at the Daily Reset.” One conversation, one bounty per member (20 Chemistry, regardless of bounty tier), one gift, and then Amir is done until the next reset. Ten dialogues at one per day means at least ten calendar days, no matter how much time you have. How to get through those ten days cleanly is covered in our guide to KIM Chemistry with Amir.

📊 What unlocking Fables and Frontiers really costs

An honest estimate for a player who hasn't finished The Hex and sits at Hex rank 0:

StageMinimum timeLimited by
The Hex including finale1 to 2 daysYour playtime
Hex rank 0 to 510 to 12 daysDaily Standing cap
Chemistry to Close10 days from Hex rank 51 dialogue per day
Total from zeroabout 3 weeksDaily reset

Some of it runs in parallel: you can build Chemistry from Hex rank 2 while you keep farming Standing. The Hex rank 5 gate still stands before “Close” can unlock. If you're already at Pizza Party and just neglected Amir, you're in after ten days. If you start fresh today, plan for three weeks. No guide, trick or platinum shortens that. Anyone promising otherwise hasn't done the math on the daily caps.

If you're playing daily during the wait anyway, use the time for the systems running alongside: the current Amir's Shockwave Nightwave also runs on daily and weekly tasks, and if you want to farm Standing more efficiently, our Warframe tips and tricks help. For harder content afterward, the Steel Path beginner's guide is the next step.

✨ What you get at the end

Fables and Frontiers is a six-day tabletop roleplaying adventure with the Hex members that runs entirely in the KIM as a text adventure. Per the patch notes, the Running Late poster is an inbox reward, and Amir's store sells items such as Hex member glyphs and posters. You'll also meet the new Surge Eximus there. The campaign can be replayed with different character choices.

❓ FAQ about Fables and Frontiers

Is Fables and Frontiers time-limited?

No. It arrived with Update 43.5 on August 12, 2026 and is permanent. It isn't a Nightwave reward and doesn't expire with Amir's Shockwave.

Can I meet all three requirements in one day?

No. Hex Standing and KIM Chemistry are both tied to a daily cap and the daily reset. Ten dialogues with Amir alone take ten calendar days.

Where exactly is the Höllvandeim room?

On the second floor of the Höllvania Central Mall, in the converted café area. The bell is on the game table and calls Amir.

Do I need Chemistry rank 5 with other Hex members too?

No. The patch notes only name Amir. Chemistry with Arthur, Aoi, Eleanor, Leticia or Quincy isn't required for access.

What else does Hex rank 5 give me?

Rank 5 unlocks Minerva's rank 5 wares. The EFV-5 Jupiter costs three components at 5,000 Standing each plus 15,000 Standing for the main blueprint there, 30,000 Standing in total. More in our guide to Overpressured Rounds and Prototype Shock Coils. Temporal Archimedea also opens up.

Can I play the six campaign days in a row?

No. It's one session per day, and the next one unlocks after the daily reset at 0:00 UTC.

Checked as of October 2026. Requirements, start room, bell, character sheet, rewards and Surge Eximus per the official Update 43.5.0 patch notes on warframe.com; Hex ranks, Chemistry tiers and the daily formula per the community-run wiki at wiki.warframe.com (Kinemantik Instant Messenger and The Hex pages). The day counts are our own math.
