Soulframe Dracs are the game's freely farmable everyday currency: you collect them from barrels, baskets, chests and enemies and spend them on crafting, vendors and dye recipes. Next to them run three other currencies: Arcs as the real-money premium currency, Moonsteel Threads for your armor's appearance and Harmonies from charming animals.
Few systems in Soulframe are misunderstood as often as the wallet side. The game is still in its pre-alpha phase “Preludes” and explains its currencies only briefly in the client, and the biggest currency of all has been disputed since Preludes 15. This guide sorts out where you earn each currency, what you spend it on and what is officially confirmed.
💰 Soulframe Dracs and the other currencies at a glance
Four things behave like a currency in Soulframe: they stack on your account, you spend them at a counter, and they aren't ordinary crafting materials. Here is the short version.
| Currency | Source | Use | Real money? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dracs | barrels, baskets, chests, enemies, dungeons, side tasks | crafting recipes, vendor goods, repairs, Hues recipes | no |
| Arcs | purchase on the official site, Founders Packs | cosmetics at the Wares of Zenith, skipping crafting timers | yes |
| Moonsteel Threads | bought with Arcs (Wares of Zenith, sometimes Avakot), Founders Packs | Bestitching: transferring an armor piece's appearance | indirectly (via Arcs) |
| Harmonies | charming wild animals, freeing caged animals, releasing Totems, runes and, since Preludes 16, caught fish | upgrading Totems and runes (per the community wiki) | no |
🪙 What you spend Soulframe Dracs on
Dracs come to you almost on the side while you play. According to consistent community databases they drop from almost anything that breaks or opens: barrels, baskets, chests, sarcophagi in crypts, amber deposits plus enemies and dungeon rewards. If you want to farm on purpose, the community usually recommends a run through the Dermak Undercity, which packs lots of breakable containers into a small space. Since Preludes 16 you also get more Dracs while a rainbow is in the sky, according to the patch notes.
On the spending side, Soulframe Dracs show up in four places that community sources agree on:
- Crafting recipes: many craftable weapons require a Dracs amount next to materials. Community databases count well over twenty weapons with Dracs in the recipe.
- Vendor goods: the Sproutfolk vendor Avakot (“Avakot's Gots”) stands at Oro's Well, at Dermak Well, in the hamlet southeast of the College of Pensives and at the entrance to the Dermak Undercity near Hilly-Den, according to the community-run wiki at wiki.avakot.org, and also appears at random in Midrath. He stocks five materials for Dracs at a time, and the stock rotates every three hours, for example Gossamer Quartz for 150 and Moranite for 1,500 Dracs. He also sells lures and, for pacts from Fables you already finished, pact fragments for 3,000 Dracs. These details come from the community wiki, not from official patch notes.
- Repairs and dialogue options: small running costs that barely matter.
- Hues: making new dyes at the witch Verminia in the Nightfold costs a moderate Dracs amount on top of the plant ingredients, according to community guides.
The dispute: are Dracs still useful after Preludes 15?
Sources openly contradict each other here. In a review of Preludes 15, the outlet Lords of Gaming wrote that Avakot no longer sold materials for Dracs and that the author couldn't recall any remaining use for them: the balance just kept climbing with nothing sensible to spend it on. The same observation shows up in forum threads asking what to do with a million Dracs.
At the same time, community databases still list Dracs prices at Avakot and Dracs costs in weapon recipes, explicitly marked as checked for Preludes 15. The community wiki provides the likely explanation: for most of Preludes 15, a bug meant no materials appeared at Avakot at all. According to the wiki this was only fixed with Preludes 15 Hotfix 13. So the review describes a bugged state, while Dracs recipe costs remained. We found no official statement on the Dracs criticism itself.
Practical advice: stop by Avakot when you pass one of his locations. His stock rotates every three hours, so an online list helps little. And don't plan a farming run whose only goal is Dracs.
✨ Arcs: the premium currency with a real-money price
Arcs are the only currency Digital Extremes clearly describes itself: the official Founders FAQ calls them “Relic coins of the ancient Fey” and lists them as the premium in-game currency usually bought with real money. According to the community they can't be farmed: no enemy drops, no chests, no quest rewards.
The documented route is the Founders Packs. The official Founders page lists 1,000 Arcs and 10 Moonsteel Threads for each of the three packs Wyld Tethren, Wyld Oscelda and Wyld Sirin at $29.99, and 3,500 Arcs and 45 Moonsteel Threads for the Paragon pack at $99.99. Details are in our Founders Pack guide.
The official site gives no verifiable prices for individual Arc packs outside the bundles. Community databases mention pack sizes around 150, 360, 960 and 3,300 Arcs, without a reliable price. We deliberately give no exchange rate here because we can't back one up.
According to the community, Arcs are spent in two places: at the Wares of Zenith vendor in the Nightfold, whose stock rotates about every six hours and includes weapons, fragments, pact recipes, armor pieces and starter Chordstones, and for skipping crafting timers at Tuvalkane. Both are convenience purchases. One important note from the official FAQ: Founders-exclusive content can't be bought with Arcs later. It only comes in the bundle.
💡 A community rule of thumb that holds up on paper: don't buy Chordstones with Arcs as long as you can cast them yourself at Tuvalkane. Materials are farmable, Arcs aren't. How casting works is in our Chordstones guide.
🧵 Moonsteel Threads: the currency for your look
Moonsteel Threads are a pure appearance currency. Digital Extremes describes them in the Founders FAQ as an invention of Steelsinger Kane, an alloy forged under the light of Iridis, and names their purpose: Bestitching, meaning transferring one gear piece's appearance onto another. That is Soulframe's transmog system, and it runs through the witch Verminia in the Nightfold.
That makes Threads the only currency with an undisputed, clearly named purpose. According to the community wiki, one Thread permanently unlocks the look of one armor piece, and since Preludes 15 you need exactly 72 for all armor looks. Threads are bought only with Arcs: at the Wares of Zenith, 25 Arcs for one, 38 for two and 56 for three, and at times also from Avakot for 25 Arcs. The wiki names no farmable source. When in doubt, trust the price in your client.
🎵 Harmonies: the quiet fourth currency
According to the community wiki you earn Harmonies three ways: by charming wild animals in Midrath, by freeing caged animals and by releasing Totems and runes you already own in the Arsenal. Since Preludes 16 there is a fourth way per the patch notes: release a cleansed fish while fishing and you get Harmonies. The patch notes still call the currency “Harmony”.
What you spend them on: per the community wiki, Harmonies upgrade Totems and runes (called “Enchantments” there). The wiki lists the costs per rank like this: a common Totem costs 500, 1,000 and 2,000 Harmonies for ranks 1, 2 and 3, an uncommon Totem double that. A rune needs 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000, so 35,000 in total to rank 3. Some Blessed Meetings also ask for 2,500 Harmonies as an offering, according to the wiki.
Grab Harmonies whenever a charmable animal crosses your path, and release duplicate runes when you clean up. What runes do is explained in our Runes guide.
🎯 Soulframe Dracs, Arcs and Threads: what to spend on first
If you are just starting and wondering where to put your balance, this order helps:
| Priority | Purchase | Currency | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | weapon and armor recipes at Tuvalkane | Dracs | direct combat power, and Dracs keep coming in anyway |
| 2 | missing materials from Avakot | Dracs | saves targeted farming runs when the stock fits |
| 3 | Bestitching at Verminia | Moonsteel Threads | permanent unlock, no combat effect used up |
| 4 | cosmetics at the Wares of Zenith | Arcs | pure appearance purchase, can be done any time |
| 5 | skipping crafting timers | Arcs | only buys time, not progress |
⚠️ One caveat for a pre-alpha game: economy systems are explicitly not final. Preludes 15 “Gods and Ghosts” already rebuilt the whole loot system on June 10, 2026, as covered in our Tempers guide.
Digital Extremes announced the next big update, “Warsongs: A Soulframe Fable”, at TennoCon 2026 for fall 2026, without a specific date. Before that, Preludes 16 “Of Hook and Hound” arrived on September 18, 2026 with fishing and wolf pup training.
❓ Soulframe Dracs FAQ
Can I buy Soulframe Dracs with real money?
No. Dracs are the farmable in-game currency. Real money in Soulframe only gets you Arcs, either directly on the official site or as part of a Founders Pack.
Can I trade currencies with other players?
The player trading available since Preludes 15 covers non-unique gear according to the patch notes. Per consistent community reports, Arcs are excluded from trading. How trading works and why EnvoyGuard is required is in our trading guide.
Is Soulframe pay-to-win then?
Not based on current information: documented Arc spending covers cosmetics and skipping wait times. Combat-relevant gear comes from crafting, loot and Favour. Digital Extremes has documented no purchasable combat advantages for the Preludes phase.
Why do I have so many Dracs piling up?
Because Dracs drop from almost every container while the spending side is thin. That is exactly what critics have pointed out since Preludes 15. A large Dracs balance isn't a bug in your save but a known state of the current Preludes balance.
Is a Founders Pack worth it just for the currency?
Not as a pure currency purchase. The packs are mainly interesting for their pacts, weapons and instant access. The deciding argument is that Founders content can't be bought separately with Arcs, according to the official FAQ.
