Soulframe Chordstones: Recipes, Lampyrite and What They Are For

The question comes up in Soulframe chat all the time: “What do I actually do with Lampyrite?” The answer is almost always: cast Chordstones. This guide explains what Soulframe Chordstones are, which recipe each stone needs at the smith Tuvalkane, where Amber Lampyrite and its siblings fit in and what you use the finished stones for. Checked against Preludes 16.

💎 What are Soulframe Chordstones?

Chordstones are a crafting material for upgrading weapons. You make and use them at Tuvalkane, the smith in the Nightfold. Since Hotfix 4 for Preludes 16 (September 29, 2026) the two lower tiers, Hushed and Whispering Chordstones, also show up in Rare Chests in dungeons, according to the official notes. The process runs through two separate tabs in her menu:

  • Cast: here you pour the actual Chordstones from raw materials like Lampyrite.
  • Enhance Craftwork: here you spend finished Chordstones on a weapon you already found. Until Preludes 16 this step was called “Refine”.

Upgrading raises the weapon's Craftwork tier, the quality rank that affects damage and the maximum number of Tempers. According to the official Devstream 15 overview, the weapon can gain additional Tempers (extra modifiers) in the process. That existing Tempers get rerolled during a normal upgrade is not officially confirmed. More on the weapon system in the Joineries guide.

⚒️ All Soulframe Chordstones and their recipes

Craftwork tiers follow the ladder Stock → Military → Officer → Noble → Sovereign → Legendary. Each step has its own Chordstone. The recipes come from the community-run wiki at wiki.avakot.org. There is no official table from Digital Extremes:

ChordstoneUpgradeRecipeBondTime
HushedStock → Military10 Whisprig, 20 Scrap Iron, 150 Dracs140 min
WhisperingMilitary → Officer15 Whisprig, 20 Scrap Steel, 7 Quenching Acid, 300 Dracs240 min
LiltingOfficer → Noble1 Whispering, 20 Whisprig, 9 Quenching Acid, 4 Glow Lampyrite, 400 Dracs31 h
MelodiousNoble → Sovereign2 Lilting, 15 Knotwood, 12 Quenching Acid, 5 Amber Lampyrite, 500 Dracs35 h
RhapsodicSovereign → Legendary4 Melodious, 20 Knotwood, 20 Quenching Acid, 7 Faer Lampyrite, 1,000 Dracs49 h

Important: every higher stone consumes the tier below it. One Rhapsodic Chordstone therefore contains four Melodious, eight Lilting and eight Whispering Chordstones. From Bond 4 with Tuvalkane you can craft Hushed and Whispering in packs of five according to Avakot, which saves about 10 percent on materials.

You can also get finished stones without casting: Lilting Chordstones drop when you dismantle Noble weapons and Melodious when you dismantle Sovereign weapons, per Avakot. On top of that come the daily Tributes from the Blessed Meetings.

🌀 Special case: the Chaos Chordstone

The Chaos Chordstone is not a regular crafting material. According to Avakot it was only handed out via a Dispatch for Preludes 15: based on how many old Stock weapons you had in your inventory, plus one per Envoy rank for every player. It rerolls a weapon's Craftwork and all of its Tempers completely, as if it had just dropped in a high-level area.

That can also lower the Craftwork. It can't be used on Legendary weapons. So only use a Chaos Chordstone you still own on a weapon whose stats don't fit anyway.

Swapping single Tempers on purpose works differently since Preludes 16 “Of Hook and Hound”: dismantled weapons teach Tuvalkane their Tempers, and she then transfers them permanently onto rank 30 weapons. Each of these Strikes costs 1 Glow, 1 Amber and 1 Faer Lampyrite according to the patch notes. Details in the Tempers guide.

🔗 What do you need Amber Lampyrite and the others for?

Lampyrite is the base for the higher Chordstones. There are three tiers, and each belongs to exactly one recipe:

  • Glow Lampyrite: 4 per Lilting Chordstone. Comes from dismantling weapons, Sap Pods and Basic Chests, among others.
  • Amber Lampyrite: 5 per Melodious Chordstone. Most reliably from dismantling Sovereign weapons.
  • Faer Lampyrite: 7 per Rhapsodic Chordstone. Per Avakot from dismantling Legendary weapons, the Mirifuir Siege, the Organs and Dendrit chests.
  • Since Preludes 16 all three types stack to 99, according to the patch notes.

Whisprig is considered the bottleneck in the community, since the three lower recipes need 45 together. Knotwood joins from Melodious onward, and you need Quenching Acid from Whispering all the way up. Sources for the middle Lampyrite tier are in the Amber Lampyrite guide.

💡 Practical tips for casting Chordstones

  • Batch your materials: gather everything for one stone before you visit Tuvalkane. Crafting times range from 40 minutes to 9 hours.
  • Aim for Bond 4: from there the five-pack for Hushed and Whispering pays off.
  • Dismantle, don't sell: Noble and Sovereign weapons give Lampyrite and, with some luck, finished Lilting or Melodious Chordstones.
  • Pick the right base weapon: if you are still looking for a weapon worth upgrading, The Erstroot is a solid early target.

❓ Soulframe Chordstones FAQ

What do I do with Lampyrite?

Lampyrite is raw material for Chordstones: Glow for Lilting, Amber for Melodious, Faer for Rhapsodic. You cast the stones in Tuvalkane's Cast tab and spend them on a weapon via “Enhance Craftwork”. Since Preludes 16 each Temper transfer also costs 1 Glow, 1 Amber and 1 Faer Lampyrite.

How many Chordstones do I need for Legendary?

One Rhapsodic Chordstone for the last step. Per Avakot's recipe it already contains four Melodious Chordstones, each of which uses two Lilting.

Can I craft Chaos Chordstones?

No. According to Avakot they were only handed out once via a Dispatch for Preludes 15. They don't drop and can't be made in game.

Are Chordstones a currency?

No. They are a consumable for weapon upgrades and get used up on exactly one weapon.

Where do I find Tuvalkane?

Tuvalkane lives in the Nightfold after the Fable “The Steelsinger”. She handles crafting, reforging, Chordstone upgrades and, since Preludes 16, Temper transfers.

✨ Verdict

Soulframe Chordstones are the link between raw materials and weapon progress. Each tier builds on the one before, and each Lampyrite type belongs to exactly one recipe. If you collect Whisprig, Quenching Acid and Knotwood early and dismantle weapons consistently, you reach Legendary fastest. If you are just starting out, our beginner guide helps.
