Graveyard Keeper 2 Growth Elixir: Brewing Weak, Rich and Miracle

Graveyard Keeper 2 Growth Elixir: Brewing Weak, Rich and Miracle

You brew a Graveyard Keeper 2 growth elixir in the lab from ingredients whose runes add up to exactly 1 red plus 2, 3 or 5 green. Weak and Rich already work in Laboratory I with two slots. With the usual ingredients, the Miracle elixir needs Laboratory II.

This guide works out every mix for all three tiers that adds up with ingredients we checked in the game, shows when Laboratory II is worth it and what you need the elixirs for. We read the rune values in the German version of the game's rune book. Community wiki data is marked in the text.

๐Ÿงช Graveyard Keeper 2 Growth Elixir: The Three Tiers

All three elixirs share the same pattern: exactly one red rune plus a growing number of green ones. Blue can't show up at all, or the total stops matching. We checked the rune totals in the rune book:

ElixirRune totalTurns into (fertilizer)
Weak Growth Elixir1 red, 2 greenFarming Fertilizer I
Rich Growth Elixir1 red, 3 greenFarming Fertilizer II
Miracle Growth Elixir1 red, 5 greenFarming Fertilizer III

The link to Farming Fertilizer I and II comes from the community wiki. The recipe for Farming Fertilizer III we saw in the game ourselves. The full recipe list for every potion is in our Graveyard Keeper 2 alchemy guide. Here it's only about the three elixirs and how to put them together as cheaply as possible.

๐ŸŒฟ Which Ingredients Even Qualify

Because the total has to match exactly, every ingredient with a blue rune is out. That rules out Peat, Blood, Seed Oil, Minced Meat and Tin. Same for any ingredient with two red runes, since none of the three elixirs takes more than one red. So Stone, Red Mushroom and Copper Nugget are out too.

These ingredients, checked in the rune book, are left:

IngredientRedGreenRole
Flesh1โ€“pure red rune
Beeswax12red rune plus green
Flourโ€“2green filler
Leafโ€“1green filler
Waterโ€“1green filler

So the red rune comes from either Flesh or Beeswax. Everything else is topping up green with Flour, Leaf or Water. The community wiki lists more ingredients with fitting values, like Stick and Berry at 1 green each, or Clay and Sand at 1 red each. We haven't checked those in the rune book ourselves.

โš—๏ธ Weak Growth Elixir: The Mixes

For 1 red and 2 green there are two clean options with checked ingredients in Laboratory I:

  • Flesh + Flour = 1 red, 2 green. A good fit if you're grinding Flour at the Millstone anyway.
  • Beeswax alone = 1 red, 2 green. The community wiki lists it as a one-ingredient brew. We haven't tested it.

Laboratory II with three slots adds Flesh + Leaf + Water. That's only worth it when you're out of Flour, because you burn one more ingredient for the same result.

According to the community wiki, the Weak elixir is available from the start, and the Alchemist sells it right away. That makes it the first Graveyard Keeper 2 growth elixir you can brew for your garden.

โš—๏ธ Rich Growth Elixir: The Mixes

The Rich elixir needs 1 red and 3 green. Beeswax is the easiest base here, since it already brings 1 red and 2 green:

MixTotalLab
Beeswax + Leaf1 red, 3 greenLaboratory I
Beeswax + Water1 red, 3 greenLaboratory I
Flesh + Flour + Leaf1 red, 3 greenLaboratory II
Flesh + Flour + Water1 red, 3 greenLaboratory II

Without Beeswax, the Rich elixir takes three ingredients, so Laboratory II only. With Flesh you top out at 1 red and 2 green in two slots, because Flour is the strongest checked green filler. The community wiki also gives Beeswax plus Stick as an example.

According to the community wiki, the Rich elixir is unlocked through the Farming tech Fertilizers III (60 green, 15 blue). The same source says the Alchemist sells it ready-made from his second trader level.

โœจ Miracle Growth Elixir: Beeswax Only

For 1 red and 5 green, things get tight. With ingredients checked in the game there are only two mixes, and both need three slots:

  • Beeswax + Flour + Leaf = 1 red, 5 green (Laboratory II)
  • Beeswax + Flour + Water = 1 red, 5 green (Laboratory II)

Try it with Flesh and you hit the snag: Flesh brings no green. You'd need five green runes from the two remaining slots, but Flour plus Flour only gives four. Without Beeswax, the Miracle elixir can't be brewed from checked ingredients. Stock up before you plan larger batches.

The community wiki's rune values open two workarounds. Flax carries 1 red and 1 green there, so Flax + Flour + Flour also gives 1 red and 5 green. You grow Flax in the garden anyway, more on that in our Graveyard Keeper 2 fabric guide. The second route is a two-slot mix of Beeswax plus Fragrance from the Distillation Cube, which would even work in Laboratory I. We haven't brewed either one ourselves.

According to the community wiki, the Miracle elixir sits in the Fertilizers IV tech (150 green, 30 blue), which comes after the Zombie Vineyard tech in the tree. The wiki also lists an alternative recipe from a Rich elixir and Cinnabar at mastery 4, but names no station for it, so don't rely on it.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Laboratory I or Laboratory II?

That question comes up with every new garden. Our math with the checked ingredients gives a clear picture:

ElixirLaboratory I (2 slots)Laboratory II (3 slots)
WeakFlesh + Flouralso Flesh + Leaf + Water
RichBeeswax + Leaf or Wateralso Flesh + Flour + Leaf or Water
Miraclenot possibleBeeswax + Flour + Leaf or Water

As long as you only need the first two tiers, Laboratory I is plenty. Laboratory II becomes a must for the Miracle elixir, or if you're out of Beeswax and want the Rich elixir via Flesh. Laboratory II costs 2 Oiled Beam, 3 Iron Detail and 2 Lens. We read that in the alchemy lab's build menu.

Every brew also uses one Alchemy Flask and some fuel. Keep the Flask shelf stocked, or the lab won't finish the mix.

๐ŸŒฑ What You Need the Elixirs For

Every Graveyard Keeper 2 growth elixir is mainly a fertilizer ingredient. You make the actual fertilizer at the Formulation Bench from Peat and an elixir:

FertilizerRecipeSource
Farming Fertilizer I2 Peat + 1 Weak elixircommunity wiki
Farming Fertilizer II4 Peat + 1 Rich elixircommunity wiki
Farming Fertilizer III8 Peat + 1 Miracle elixirconfirmed in game

Farming Fertilizer III needs Anatomy mastery 4, and its tooltip says it adds +5 green to the bed. The biggest consumer is the Vineyard Upgrade, whose blueprint takes six Farming Fertilizer III.

How many pieces one craft at the Formulation Bench gives is disputed among community sources: graveyard-keeper.wiki says two, wikily.gg says one, and two only with the Compost Chemist perk. So you need three to six Miracle elixirs. The full math with Peat and Leaves, the two fertilizer slots per bed and which combination goes in are in our Graveyard Keeper 2 fertilizer guide.

One tip from our math: Leaf is both a green filler for the elixirs and the raw material for Peat in the Compost Pile. Use Water instead of Leaf in your elixirs, and the Leaves stay free for compost.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Brew or Buy?

The community wiki gives base prices of 200 bronze for the Weak, 400 bronze for the Rich and 1,500 bronze for the Miracle elixir. The base price isn't what a trader pays you when you sell. For your own use, brewing is the obvious route: you grind Flour at the Millstone, Leaves drop at harvest, and one Miracle elixir really just costs you a Beeswax plus flask and fuel.

โ“ FAQ: Graveyard Keeper 2 Growth Elixir

Which runes does the Miracle elixir need?

1 red and 5 green. With checked ingredients that only works with Beeswax, Flour and Leaf or Water in Laboratory II.

Can I brew the Rich elixir in Laboratory I?

Yes. Beeswax plus Leaf or Beeswax plus Water gives 1 red and 3 green with just two ingredients.

Why won't my elixir brew?

Usually an ingredient with a blue rune or a second red rune slipped in. Peat, Seed Oil or Stone break the total.

What do I need the Miracle elixir for?

For Farming Fertilizer III at the Formulation Bench, and through that mostly for the Vineyard Upgrade.

Can I buy the elixir from a trader?

According to the community wiki, the Alchemist sells the Weak elixir from the start, the Rich one from his second and the Miracle one from his third trader level.

Checked against the German game as of October 2026: the rune totals of the three elixirs and the runes of every ingredient in the tables were read in the rune book, plus the Farming Fertilizer III recipe and the Laboratory II cost. Unlocks, prices, the Farming Fertilizer I and II recipes, the one-ingredient Beeswax mix and the ingredients Flax, Stick, Fragrance and Cinnabar come from the community wikis graveyard-keeper.wiki and wikily.gg. All other mixes are calculated from the rune book values.
