Graveyard Keeper 2 Alcohol: Distillation Cube and Recipes

Graveyard Keeper 2 Alcohol: Distillation Cube and Recipes

You make Graveyard Keeper 2 alcohol at the Distillation Cube by distilling a finished drink like Wine, Beer, Mead or Cider. The cube is in the alchemy lab's build menu, and Wine gives the most, with four Alcohol per bottle.

This guide lists every recipe at the Distillation Cube, works out which drink pays off best and explains what you need the Alcohol for, from Dynamite to Reanimation Liquid. Things we saw in the German version of the game ourselves are marked as confirmed. Recipe data comes from community sources and is labeled in the text.

๐Ÿงช The Distillation Cube in Graveyard Keeper 2

You'll find the Distillation Cube in the alchemy lab's build menu, next to Laboratory I, Laboratory II, the Flask shelf and the Zombie Supplier Station. We read that in the game. Everything else about the station comes from the community database wikily.gg:

  • Build cost: 2 Wooden Plank, 2 Bronze Detail, 12 Brick.
  • Unlock: the "Alchemy, Distillation" tech.
  • Fuel: every recipe burns 20 Fuel.
  • Automation: once started, a recipe runs to the end on its own. A zombie can work the station too.

According to the same source, the cube also makes Melted Fat and Fragrance. Fragrance is unlocked by the Church Smells I tech.

๐Ÿท Every Graveyard Keeper 2 Alcohol Recipe

wikily.gg lists six recipes. All of them also need 2 Clay Urn and 20 Fuel, take 8 ticks and require Anatomy mastery 3. They're unlocked through the Reanimation Liquid tech, whose node we saw in the German tech tree.

Input (1 piece)AlcoholWith bonus (up to)
Wine (any grade)47
Beer23
Blueberry Cider23
Apple Cider12
Berry Cider12
Mead12

According to the source, the "with bonus" column is the maximum yield with "Cube distillations". For Apple Cider, Berry Cider and Mead the database says 1 to 2, so the bonus doesn't kick in on every run. How exactly it's unlocked, the database doesn't say.

๐Ÿ“Š Which Drink Pays Off Best?

Yield per drink is only half the story. What counts is how much raw material goes into one run. We added up the chains from the community recipes:

RoutePre-stepResultUrns per Alcohol
Wine4 Grape Juice โ†’ 4 Wine16 (up to 28 with bonus)0.5
Beer5 Hops + 5 Water โ†’ 5 Beer10 (up to 15 with bonus)1
Mead5 Honey + 5 Water โ†’ 5 Mead5 (up to 10 with bonus)2

Wine wins clearly: four times the yield of Mead and only half an urn per Alcohol. The catch is timing. According to wikily.gg, the Wine Barrel needs Farming mastery 10 and the Winemaking tech, so you only get there late.

For the early game, Beer is the sensible route. According to the source, the Brewing Stand needs Farming mastery 6 and turns 5 Hops and 5 Water into five Beer. Mead works from Farming 4 but only gives one Alcohol per bottle.

Among the ciders, Blueberry Cider stands out: it gives two Alcohol instead of one, but according to wikily.gg it needs Farming mastery 8 at the Fermentation Barrel. Apple and Berry Cider only need 5.

According to wikily.gg, the Brewing Stand sits in the Vineyard Basement. We haven't read the Fermentation Barrel's or the Wine Barrel's location ourselves.

๐Ÿงจ What You Need Graveyard Keeper 2 Alcohol For

The most important use is confirmed in the German version of the game: Dynamite at the Formulation Bench takes 2 Explosive Dust and 1 Alcohol plus Anatomy mastery 5. Everything about it is in our Graveyard Keeper 2 dynamite guide.

According to wikily.gg, more recipes use Alcohol:

  • Formulation Bench: Dynamite, Solution for Zombies and Injection for Zombies each use one Alcohol.
  • Alchemy: Reanimation Liquid, Umami, Philosopher Stone, Third Eye Salt and Zombie Motivator Potion III can all be mixed with Alcohol as an ingredient.

So Graveyard Keeper 2 alcohol is more than a Dynamite ingredient. A small stock pays off above all for Reanimation Liquid, and through that for new zombies. How skulls, collars and perks fit together is in our Graveyard Keeper 2 zombies guide.

โš—๏ธ Alcohol as an Alchemy Ingredient: Ready Mixes

According to the community wiki graveyard-keeper.wiki and wikily.gg, Alcohol carries 3 blue runes. We haven't read that in the rune book yet. Combined with ingredients whose runes we checked in the game, these mixes add up exactly by rune math:

PotionRune totalMix
Reanimation Liquid2 red, 1 green, 4 blueAlcohol + Copper Nugget + Blood or Seed Oil
Third Eye Salt1 red, 5 blueAlcohol + Minced Meat + Flesh
Zombie Motivator Potion III3 red, 3 blueAlcohol + Stone + Flesh
Philosopher Stone3 red, 3 green, 3 blueAlcohol + Copper Nugget + Beeswax

All four mixes need three slots, so Laboratory II. Quick check: Copper Nugget brings 2 red and 1 green, Blood or Seed Oil 1 blue each, and with the 3 blue runes from the Alcohol that's exactly the Reanimation Liquid total. The full rune table is in our Graveyard Keeper 2 alchemy guide.

๐Ÿ”“ Getting to the Distillation Cube Step by Step

The unlocks are split between the alchemy lab and the vineyard side. The cube alone isn't enough, you also need the drink chain before it. The community data gives this order:

  • Expand the alchemy lab: Laboratory I and later Laboratory II are in the same build menu as the cube. Without Laboratory II, Reanimation Liquid won't work, because it needs three ingredients.
  • Reanimation Liquid tech: we saw this node in the German tech tree. According to wikily.gg, every distilling recipe hangs on it.
  • Anatomy mastery 3: according to wikily.gg, the requirement for every distilling recipe.
  • A drink station: at least one Brewing Stand for Mead or Beer, later the Wine Barrel and the Fermentation Barrel.

Keep in mind the cube does nothing with raw goods like Hops or grapes. It only processes finished drinks. You always brew or press the pre-step first.

โš ๏ธ Common Mistakes

  • Recipe missing at the cube: check your Anatomy mastery first, and whether the Reanimation Liquid tech is researched.
  • Run won't start: check the urns and the fuel. Both are used up completely each run.
  • Lab mix doesn't add up: according to community sources, Alcohol brings three blue runes at once. Count the other blue runes carefully: for Reanimation Liquid, only one more blue rune can go in.
  • Not enough for the blasts: each Dynamite also needs two portions of Explosive Dust from Tin and Seed Oil. Plan both chains together.

๐Ÿ’ก Production Tips

  • Keep urns in stock: every run eats 2 Clay Urn. With Mead and the simple ciders, that's two urns per Alcohol.
  • Plan your fuel: 20 Fuel per run no matter the drink. A Wine run is the most efficient on fuel too.
  • Use a zombie: according to wikily.gg, a zombie can staff the cube. That saves you a lot of walking.
  • Three blasts need little: the Factory walls and the Old Mine take three Dynamite in total, so three Alcohol. Two bottles of Beer already cover that.

Don't want to brew? According to wikily.gg, the Apothecary sells Alcohol from his second trader level. The source gives no buy price, only a base price of 50 bronze.
