Components in Dune Awakening are the crafting parts you can't mine: Ray Amplifier, Irradiated Slag and Insulated Fabric only sit in containers at fixed locations. If you know where these components spawn, you save yourself five-figure Solaris bills at the vendor.
This guide shows which Dune Awakening components are found where and what you actually need them for.
๐ฆ Why components in Dune Awakening work differently from ores
In Dune Awakening, you spot ore, sand and plant fiber by their resource icon and gather them with the right tool. Components work the other way around: they have no harvesting node in the world. You find them in crates and containers at specific locations, buy them from a vendor or get them by trading with other players.
In the item database they're listed under "Misc - Components". That separation is why many players in Dune Awakening get stuck on a seemingly simple tool: the recipe asks for five Ray Amplifiers, and the only way to get them runs through a location you have to know about.
๐ง The key Dune Awakening components and where to find them
These three components cause the most progression roadblocks in Dune Awakening. All figures come from community-maintained Dune Awakening databases and aren't officially confirmed by Funcom.
| Component | Tier | Main location | Chance and amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ray Amplifier | 3 | Fallen Shipwreck, Hagga Basin | 62.9% for 20โ36 |
| Irradiated Slag | 5 | Fallen Shipwreck, Hagga Basin | 44.2% for 20โ26 |
| Insulated Fabric | 4 | Hagga Basin, vendors | Vendors: 15 in stock |
The real finding in this table is in the location column: Ray Amplifier and Irradiated Slag drop at the same place. The Fallen Shipwreck in the Hagga Basin feeds both chains at once, and dune.gaming.tools lists the same values for the Fallen Shipwrecks in the Deep Desert. The map filter lists this location type as "Fallen Shipwrecks".
In practice, a single wreck run supplies material for two completely separate areas: gathering tools on one side, power supply on the other. Most guides cover both components separately and send you out twice.
โ๏ธ Ray Amplifier: the bottleneck of the Cutteray chain
The Ray Amplifier is the component most players get stuck on first. It's part of every upgrade level of the Cutteray, and the Cutteray is the tool that lets you harvest aluminum and other sensitive materials in the first place. Without these components, your entire material chain stalls.
| Recipe | Station | Ray Amplifier |
|---|---|---|
| Cutteray Mk3 | Survival Fabricator | 5 |
| Cutteray Mk4 | Survival Fabricator | 6 |
| Cutteray Mk5 | Survival Fabricator | 8 |
| Buggy Cutteray Mk4 | Vehicles Fabricator | 12 |
| Buggy Cutteray Mk5 | Vehicles Fabricator | 18 |
| Arhun K-28 Lasgun | Weapons Fabricator | 13 |
All names and amounts come from dune.gaming.tools (data version 1.5.3.x). According to the database, Ray Amplifiers also go into the Buggy Cutteray Mk3, the Focused Buggy Cutteray variants and unique tools such as the Tarl Cutteray.
The full recipe for the Cutteray Mk3: 90 water, 15 Steel Ingots, 10 EMF Generators, 10 Cobalt Paste and 5 Ray Amplifiers, crafted at the Survival Fabricator in 15 seconds.
๐ฉธ Irradiated Slag: power and fuel
Irradiated Slag is one of the tier 5 components in Dune Awakening and is tied entirely to your power supply. It stacks up to 500 with a volume of 0.1 per unit, so you can carry large amounts without blowing up your inventory.
| Recipe | Station | Irradiated Slag |
|---|---|---|
| Power Pack Mk5 | Survival Fabricator | 12 |
| Spice-infused Fuel Cell (10 per batch) | Medium Chemical Refinery | 2 |
| Irradiated Core | Advanced Survival Fabricator | 3 |
| Young Sparky Mk5 | Survival Fabricator | 4 |
The second row is the most important one: the Spice-infused Fuel Cell is the fuel for the Spice-Powered Generator. According to dune.gaming.tools, one batch in the Medium Chemical Refinery takes only 2 Irradiated Slag for ten cells. The 30 regular Fuel Cells and 48 Spice Residue per batch weigh far more heavily.
The dune.gaming.tools map also marks spots at the Wreck of the Tyche, but gives no drop chance there. As a fallback, the NPC Arkady Demidenko sells Irradiated Slag for 1,500 Solaris each, with 20 in stock.
๐งช Insulated Fabric: the quiet textile component
Insulated Fabric is the component that's least on people's radar, because it isn't part of any flashy tool. It's needed for Atmospheric Filtered Fabric and for consumables like blood bags and literjons, exactly the things that keep you alive in the desert.
For once, the most reliable source is the vendor: Zoe, Dr. Shaffat and Fleshshaper Phrakk each keep 15 in stock at 4,000 Solaris per unit. If you're short on Solaris, our Solaris farming guide shows the faster income sources.
A detail that helps when tidying up: if you recycle Insulated Fabric, you get one Plant Fiber back. With the right perks in your specialization tree, the yield goes up noticeably.
๐ฐ What a wreck run in Dune Awakening really gets you
Don't count your Dune Awakening haul in units, count it in finished tools. A successful drop at the wreck gives you 20 to 36 Ray Amplifiers. The Cutteray Mk3 needs five of them.
- One drop equals 4 to 7 complete Cutteray Mk3s, or one to three Buggy Cutteray Mk4s.
- The Irradiated Slag from the same run, at 20โ26 units, covers about two Power Pack Mk5s.
- At a 62.9% chance, you need about one and a half attempts on average for a hit.
Careful with prices: the community databases contradict each other here. dune.gaming.tools (data version 1.5.3.x) lists the Ray Amplifier at 5,000 Solaris from Traj Axxari, Dr. Shaffat and Fleshshaper Phrakk, 20 in stock each. Other community tables list 500 Solaris. Neither number is officially confirmed. Trust the price your vendor shows in-game, not a table on the internet.
๐ What you can't loot
Not every material with a technical-sounding name is a loot component. Stravidium Fiber, for example, is crafted, not found: 100 water and 3 Stravidium Mass in the Medium Chemical Refinery, ten seconds per run. As a container drop it only shows up at 2.9% for one to two units.
If you search the wrecks for Stravidium Fiber, you're wasting your time. The way forward runs through the refinery, and from there on to Plastanium. Before heading into deeper zones, check our Deep Desert PvE guide.
๐ก Four rules for efficient farming in Dune Awakening
- Two chains, one trip: Always plan wreck runs for both components at once, never for just one.
- Farm what you need: Count the recipe first. Five Ray Amplifiers for one Cutteray Mk3 are one drop, not a project.
- Use the stacks: Both components stack up to 500 at a volume of 0.1, so take everything.
- Vendors only as a last resort: Buying is almost never worth it, except for Insulated Fabric. At the fabricator, filter by the component, not by the tool.
๐๏ธ Frequently Asked Questions about Dune Awakening components
Where do I find Ray Amplifiers fastest?
At the Fallen Shipwreck locations in the Hagga Basin. Community databases list a 62.9% chance there for 20 to 36 Ray Amplifiers per drop. That's the densest known source for these components in Dune Awakening.
Can I mine components like ore?
No. Components in Dune Awakening have no harvesting node in the game world. You only get them from containers, vendors or by trading with other players.
Where do I get Insulated Fabric?
The most reliable source is the vendors Zoe, Dr. Shaffat and Fleshshaper Phrakk, who each keep 15 in stock at 4,000 Solaris per unit.
How much Irradiated Slag do I need for the Spice-Powered Generator?
Two units per batch in the Medium Chemical Refinery, which yields ten Spice-infused Fuel Cells. A Power Pack Mk5 takes twelve.
Is it worth buying components in Dune Awakening from vendors?
Usually not. For Insulated Fabric, the vendor with 15 in stock is the most reliable source. For the other two components, farming is clearly cheaper.
Do the containers at the wrecks in Dune Awakening respawn?
Yes, the containers at these locations refill after a while. Community reports describe farming the same route repeatedly. There's no official figure for the respawn time.
