Warframe Taubound Guide: Moonflesh, Rewards and the Tau Prologue

Warframe Taubound Guide: Moonflesh, Rewards and the Tau Prologue

Warframe Taubound (officially “Epoch Operation: Taubound”) is a one-time operation: you collect Moonflesh on Eris for the Sentient mothership Praghasa and get exclusive rewards for it. Digital Extremes gives the dates as October 15 to November 17, 2026, and says there won't be a rerun.

A permanent quest lands in the Codex at the same time: the Tau Prologue. This guide separates what belongs to the time-limited operation from what stays afterward, which requirements apply to what, and what Digital Extremes hasn't revealed yet.

🌌 Warframe Taubound: the operation at a glance

Everything in this table comes from the official announcement of October 8 and the launch post of October 15, 2026 on warframe.com.

That's 33 days from start to end. Digital Extremes itself calls it “one month.” If you only play on weekends, you have about five weekends.

🛸 What the operation is about

The story is quick to tell: Praghasa is supposed to open a way into the Tau system, but needs an enormous amount of energy for the trip. You supply that fuel in the form of Moonflesh. The announcement also says that Arturos and Zioa have rested long enough and the time to take control of your vessel has almost come. If you've played the recent quests, you'll recognize the thread leading to the big update.

Taubound is the lead-in to the next chapter. What's known about the big update itself, meaning Fornax, the Fornax Drowners and the noir-inspired Warframe Brysko, is in our Warframe Tau overview.

🌙 How to collect Moonflesh

Per the launch post, completing missions on Eris gives you fixed amounts of Moonflesh. A series of rotating Tactical Alerts adds more on top, and Infested enemies on Eris occasionally drop Moonflesh when killed. You hand the Moonflesh to Praghasa and get the operation's rewards in return.

There's a story part too: if you interact with Praghasa, you get daily narrative updates per the announcement that only exist during this event. The announcement also mentions daily login messages for the duration of the operation. If you want the whole story, check in regularly instead of cramming everything into the last weekend.

What's still open

As of this article, Digital Extremes hasn't published:

  • how big the fixed Moonflesh amount per mission is
  • how often the Tactical Alerts rotate and how much they add
  • what each reward costs at Praghasa
  • the exact start and end times

Any specific Moonflesh numbers or prices from videos, forums or wikis don't come from Digital Extremes, but from players' own measurements.

🎁 Taubound rewards

The launch post names the highlights among Praghasa's wares: the Dhampyre Syandana, the Contegorus Armor Set and the Vacis Amp Skin. You can also trade Moonflesh for a Legendary Core and a new Honoria.

On top of that comes a long list of additional rewards. Per the launch post, they include:

  • Story items: Arturos Vessel Glyph, Zioa Vessel Glyph, Taubound Sigil and Epoch Operation Vessel Emblem
  • More cosmetics: Naktavyre Armor Set, Valdur’s Syandana, Natah Neolyst Floof and the Cortege and Morgha Supulchrax Skins
  • Gear: Spectra Vandal and Basmu Blueprint
  • Progression: Tauforged Crimson, Azure and Amber Archon Shards, Arcanes such as Arcane Ice Storm and Secondary Surge, plus several Melee Arcanes
  • Resources: 2,000 Kuva, 10,000 Credits and 100 Endo

Because Digital Extremes explicitly says there won't be a rerun, grab what you want during the event. Whether the exclusive items will show up another way later, for example in the Market, hasn't been announced. Per the announcement, Praghasa's dialogue and rewards are only around until November 17.

In practice: don't save the rewards you really want for the last week. As long as prices and Moonflesh amounts are unknown, you don't know how many missions you'll need. Run a few rounds in the first week, note your own income, and you can plan the rest cleanly from there.

🔑 Requirements: two layers, two rules

This is a common thinking mistake. The operation and the quest have different requirements, and you don't need the quest to collect Moonflesh.

ContentRequirementAvailable
Collect Moonflesh, rewards from PraghasaQuest “Vor's Prize”October 15 to November 17
Quest “Tau Prologue”Quests “The Hex” and “The Old Peace”permanently from October 15

“Vor's Prize” is the intro quest every new account plays first. Normally you reach Eris late on the star chart and through a Junction. For the duration of the operation, Digital Extremes lifts the normal Star Chart and Junction requirements. So even a brand-new account can take part once the tutorial is done.

That has a practical consequence: Eris normally sits far along the star chart, and enemies are stronger than in the first areas, even with access opened up. If you've just started, get a sturdy frame first. Which ones are worth getting early is in our list of the best Warframes for beginners.

📜 Tau Prologue: the quest that stays

From October 15, you'll find a new quest called Tau Prologue in the Codex. Digital Extremes calls it a permanent addition. It's tied to Taubound story-wise, but doesn't depend on the time-limited rewards or on Praghasa's dialogue.

In concrete terms: if you miss the operation, you lose the exclusive rewards and the daily story snippets, but not access to the story. The Prologue stays playable after November 17. It requires the quests “The Hex” and “The Old Peace.” If you still have one of them open, the weeks of the operation are a good time to catch up.

⚔️ How to prepare

The operation has been running since October 15. These steps help you get started:

  • Check your quests: Look in the Codex to see whether “The Hex” and “The Old Peace” are done. Without both, the Prologue stays locked.
  • Have a fast frame ready: If every Eris mission counts, the number of completed missions decides things in the end. Whether short or long missions give more Moonflesh is still open. Test it yourself in the first few days and take the rotating Tactical Alerts along, which add extra Moonflesh per Digital Extremes.
  • Check your gear's toughness: If you're already running The Icebind, you're well equipped. If you don't have endgame builds yet, our Steel Path beginner's guide covers the basics of durable setups.
  • Log in daily: Story updates come every day. Digital Extremes hasn't said whether missed days can be caught up later.

💡 Context: why Taubound is more than a cosmetics event

At first glance, Taubound is a classic collection event with cosmetics and resources as rewards. It gets interesting through its link to the main story. The Orokin once sent the Sentients to the Tau system, Praghasa is a Sentient mothership, and for the first time the journey there is actually supposed to begin.

Tying the story snippets to the operation while also adding a permanent Prologue separates two things cleanly: the rewards stay exclusive, but nobody loses the story for good. The announcement doesn't give a date for the big update itself.
