SpaceCraft Crafting 2.0 and the Grind: What Shiro Games Delivered by October 2026

SpaceCraft Crafting 2.0 and the Grind: What Shiro Games Delivered by October 2026

SpaceCraft Crafting 2.0 is in the game now, just not under that name. Since Community Update #1 on September 16, 2026, the Workshop and Smelter keep running when you walk away, and a queue builds intermediate products on its own. Major Update #1 on October 8 then went further on the grind.

This article shows what Shiro Games flagged as problem areas in July, what of that shipped by October 2026 and what you can do about the grind today.

๐ŸŽฏ "Our Priorities": the July to-do list

In the "Our Priorities" blog of July 3, 2026, Shiro Games split the work into three blocks:

  • Balancing: the studio admitted that many players find the game too grindy. Costs and parameters were to be reviewed step by step, hints improved and new content added.
  • Bug fixes and stability: this work and optimization were to stay among the top priorities.
  • Quality of life: next on the list were "Crafting 2.0" with queues and multiple crafts per click, better search and recruiting for corporations, and better UI help.

There was also a form where players could submit their own priorities. How corporations work is covered in the SpaceCraft corporations guide.

โš’๏ธ What became of SpaceCraft Crafting 2.0

After a preview on August 21, the workstation rework arrived with Community Update #1 (v0.4.24444). The patch notes don't use the term "Crafting 2.0", but the package matches the announcement:

ChangeWhat it means
Workshop and Smelter keep working when you leaveNo more standing next to the workstation
Queue with up to 10 minutes of craftingIntermediate products are made automatically
Technology experience from counted items made in Smelters and AssemblersNo more tearing down bases to earn experience again
Advanced Warehouse from Technology level 35,000 SU, 12 route drones, direct link to the Workshop
Personal Station Storage with 300 SUShared storage across all stations
Assembler and Factory 6 times, Smelter 2 times fasterMass production runs much faster
Per the Community Update #1 patch notes (v0.4.24444).

"Multiple crafts per click" isn't mentioned explicitly, but the queue covers most of that wish. All the numbers are in the article on the Advanced Warehouse and workstation rework.

๐Ÿš€ Major Update #1: more relief

The first big update on October 8, 2026 brought more changes aimed straight at the grind:

  • Solo rework: solo players are meant to progress as fast as in multiplayer thanks to a catch-up system. When you log in, the game simulates your absence and settles gains and losses.
  • New experience sources: more items count for Technology experience, such as Silicone Gel, Watertight Pipes and Pumps. The Galactic Map gives Exploration experience.
  • Trading: buy orders at the Trade Nexus and six types of traveling merchants.
  • Extractor Pods: mine deposits outside your base, unlocked with the Remote Extraction 1 permit.

Patch v0.5.25674 then lowered the footprint cost of the Shipyard, Nexus Relay, Mag-Plasma Cistern and Shuttle Landing Pad.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Announced vs. delivered

Looking back shows how reliably announcements were kept. In the Community Update #1 blog, Shiro Games promised four things for the next update: refreshed planets with more vegetation, color customization for buildings, new instances in abandoned stations and a roaming merchant.

Major Update #1 visibly delivered the reworked Restricted Areas, traveling merchants and new vegetation with six large and six medium plants. The three July problem areas aren't closed, but each got concrete changes: balancing through new experience sources and faster buildings, stability through ongoing hotfixes, comfort through the queue and storage system.

What remains open is how much the late game changes. Shiro Games explicitly named late-game balancing in July. So far there have mostly been individual tweaks, such as to laser patches and footprint costs, but no dedicated rework.

๐Ÿฉน The summer patches in review

Even before the big updates, the July patches had removed a lot of grind:

Late-game fine-tuning

Late-game players mostly got individual tweaks. Community Update #1 lowered the trigger chance of the Last Yield laser patches to 30 % and stopped endless stacking of laser patches. Since Major Update #1 you can add patches without taking the module out of the ship. Patch v0.5.25674 cut the Shipyard's footprint cost from 3 to 2 and the Mag-Plasma Cistern's from 5 to 3. Both free up room in bases that were stuck at the footprint limit.

๐Ÿ’ก What you can do about the grind today

  • Automate instead of crafting in the Workshop. Since Community Update #1 the Workshop is 1.5 times slower, while the Assembler and Factory are 6 times faster. Volume belongs in your base. See the base automation guide.
  • Produce broadly. Technology experience comes from many different items. Several small lines bring more than one big one.
  • Buy more. At 8 instead of 20 % buying tax, goods worth 10,000 credits now cost you 800 instead of 2,000 credits in tax. More in the Trade Nexus guide and the credits guide.
  • Scanning pays. Every resource scan gives experience by tier. How to search systematically is in the guide to finding resources.
  • Replan your logistics. Shuttles have been four times as fast since July, and the Shuttle Landing Pad has held 2,000 instead of 1,000 units since October. See the shuttle guide.
  • Use buy orders. Instead of farming yourself, since Major Update #1 you can post buy orders at the Trade Nexus that other players fill in full or in part.

๐Ÿงช FAQ: SpaceCraft Crafting 2.0

Is Crafting 2.0 already in the game?

In substance, yes. Since Community Update #1 on September 16, 2026 there are queues, workstations that keep running and automatic intermediate products. The patch notes don't use the name "Crafting 2.0".

How long can the queue be?

Up to 10 minutes of crafting. It makes the required intermediate products on its own.

Do I still have to tear down bases for Technology experience?

No. Since Community Update #1, each base counts certain items from Smelters and Assemblers and gives experience once enough have been collected.

Is the Workshop still worth using?

For one-off items and early parts, yes. Since Community Update #1 it's 1.5 times slower, though, while the Assembler and Factory work 6 times faster. Everything you need in bulk belongs in your base. Since the same update, the Workshop also pulls materials straight from your Advanced Warehouse if you've built one.

What does the Galactic Map do?

It's an item from Major Update #1 that you can buy from merchants or find as loot. It gives Exploration experience, an extra source on top of scanning resources and finding gravity rock.

Is solo play less grindy now?

According to Major Update #1, yes: a catch-up system is meant to align solo and multiplayer progress. Solo corporations have also existed since Community Update #1.

As of October 2026, SpaceCraft Early Access v0.5.25674. Checked against the official SpaceCraft Steam news feed: the "Our Priorities" blog (July 3, 2026), patch notes v0.3.22866, v0.3.22978, v0.3.23424, the update preview of August 21, 2026, Community Update #1, Major Update #1 and v0.5.25674.
