SpaceCraft Advanced Warehouse and the Workstation Rework: What Changed in Community Update #1

SpaceCraft Advanced Warehouse and the Workstation Rework: What Changed in Community Update #1

The SpaceCraft Advanced Warehouse has been in the game since Community Update #1 on September 16, 2026: Technology level 3, 5,000 SU of storage and up to 12 route drones. The workstation rework that Shiro Games previewed on August 21 shipped alongside it.

This article shows what actually made it out of the preview, which numbers are now confirmed and what Major Update #1 added in October.

๐Ÿ“ฆ The SpaceCraft Advanced Warehouse in detail

According to the v0.4.24444 patch notes, the new storage building comes with these stats and features:

StatAdvanced WarehouseWarehouse
UnlockTechnology level 3Automated Factories permit
Storage5,000 SU2,000 SU
Route dronesup to 125
Per-item limitsyesno
Direct link to the Workshopyesno
Footprint3 according to the preview2 (previously 3)
Values per the Community Update #1 patch notes and the developer preview of August 21, 2026. Warehouse values also per a German Steam guide from August 10, 2026.

According to the preview, building it costs 40 Stainless Plates, 12 Structural Beams, 40 Concrete and 3 Microchips.

Two features matter more than the raw numbers. First, the Workshop pulls materials straight from your Advanced Warehouses while crafting. Second, you can set a limit per item and dedicate a warehouse to one resource. You can also upgrade an existing Warehouse directly without tearing it down.

Major Update #1 on October 8, 2026 built on that: since then, the base Smelter can also draw on the Advanced Warehouse's stock. How warehouses, Extractors and drones work together is covered in the base automation guide.

โš’๏ธ Workshop and Smelter: no more standing around

Before the update you had to stay at the workstation until the progress bar filled up. Since Community Update #1, the Workshop and Smelter keep working when you walk away. On top of that there's a queue:

  • Up to 10 minutes of crafting can be queued.
  • Intermediate products are crafted automatically by the queue. You pick the end product, not every step.

The preview had mentioned "manual crafting only for recipes under 5 minutes". The final patch notes list the 10-minute queue instead. How the chains look today is covered in the crafting chains guide.

โฑ๏ธ New crafting times

The preview only talked about "reduced" and "slightly increased" times. The patch notes now give numbers:

BuildingChange
Assembler and Factory6 times faster
Recycling Plant3 times faster
Smelter2 times faster
Micro-Furnace1.5 times faster, 10 times the storage
Workshop1.5 times slower
Per the v0.4.24444 patch notes (Community Update #1).

The message is clear: volume belongs in automated buildings, and the Workshop is for one-off items. To match, the Factory's footprint dropped from 10 to 7, and the Drone Dispatcher no longer costs any footprint at all.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Technology experience: no more tearing down bases

Technology experience used to be capped per base. Shiro Games wrote in the preview that players were tearing down whole bases and rebuilding them because of it.

Since Community Update #1, each base counts certain items produced by Smelters and Assemblers. Once you've collected enough of them, you get experience. In practice, variety beats volume: several different production lines give more than one huge ore line. The patch notes don't list the counts for each milestone.

๐ŸŽ’ Personal Station Storage and Micro-Furnace

Personal Station Storage is a personal storage with 300 SU that's shared across all stations. Whatever you store at one station, you can pick up at any other. The capacity wasn't in the preview yet.

The Micro-Furnace got ten times the storage and works 1.5 times faster. That makes it a usable option while your big production buildings aren't up yet.

๐Ÿงฐ Other base changes in the same update

  • You now unlock the Recycling Plant at Technology level 2.
  • The Base Command Center stores 5,000 MA of power.
  • Cisterns support filters for specific liquids.
  • All storage screens have "Add All" and "Add All Existing" options.

๐Ÿ”— Is this Crafting 2.0?

In the "Our Priorities" blog of July 3, 2026, Shiro Games had announced "Crafting 2.0" with queues and multiple crafts per click. The queue arrived with Community Update #1, but the patch notes don't use the term itself. The state of the grind topic is covered in SpaceCraft Crafting 2.0 and the grind.

๐Ÿงช FAQ: SpaceCraft Advanced Warehouse

Is the Advanced Warehouse already in the game?

Yes, since Community Update #1 (v0.4.24444) on September 16, 2026. You unlock it at Technology level 3.

How much better is it than the regular Warehouse?

5,000 instead of 2,000 SU and up to 12 instead of 5 route drones. On top of that come per-item limits and a direct link to the Workshop and, since Major Update #1, the Smelter.

Do I have to tear down my Warehouse?

No. An existing Warehouse can be upgraded straight to an Advanced Warehouse. You only need to add drone routes afterwards if you want to use the extra slots. For shuttles and landing pads, see the SpaceCraft shuttle guide.

How much crafting can I queue?

Up to 10 minutes of total crafting time. The queue makes the required intermediate products on its own.

As of October 2026, SpaceCraft Early Access v0.5.25674. Checked against the patch notes for Community Update #1 (v0.4.24444) and Major Update #1, the developer preview "Update Preview โ€“ Workstations, New Building and QoL Improvements" of August 21, 2026, the "Our Priorities" blog and our SpaceCraft database. Values can change with patches.
