SpaceCraft Spacekorn and Xenic Farm: Seeds, Varieties and Growing (2026)

๐ŸŒพ SpaceCraft Spacekorn: the crop of the stars

SpaceCraft Spacekorn is the main crop you grow in the Xenic Farm, and you get started with a Spacekorn Seed gathered from a natural resource node. Hook the farm up to power, turn on heating and activate water at all four field terminals, and the field will feed your crew and supply your production chains.

SpaceCraft by Shiro Games is often called "Satisfactory in space," and like any good factory builder, sooner or later your base needs a field. According to its item description, "The Spacekorn is a highly adaptable alien organism. Even better, it's a source of nutrients compatible with human biology." So it is more than a raw material: it is also food for your crew.

The game has only been playable since its Early Access launch in summer 2026, and the in-game guidance on farming is thin. This guide collects what can be confirmed from item data and community reports: how you get seeds, how to keep the Xenic Farm running, which varieties exist and what you actually need the harvest for.

๐Ÿšœ Building and connecting the Xenic Farm

The Xenic Farm is a regular production building and is unlocked through the build list like any other production facility, which requires its own permit. According to item databases, it has a value of 1,250 credits, a footprint of 5 slots and draws about 10 units of power while running. The build cost consists of beams, concrete, pipes and pumps worth a little over 1,000 credits, so this is not an early-game building but something for your first expanded base.

Nothing grows without these four things

Player discussions about the Xenic Farm point to four pitfalls behind most "nothing is growing" cases:

  • Power connection: The Xenic Farm has no generator of its own. You have to connect it by cable or pylon to a power plant or your Command Center.
  • Heating: It must be switched on, or growth stalls no matter which variety you plant.
  • Water at all four field terminals: By far the most common mistake. Connecting water to the Xenic Farm is not enough. You also have to activate water directly at the four terminals on the field. If you forget, the plants quietly die without any error message.
  • Lighting: Normal light is enough. UV light is optional and, according to the community, not strictly required.

Hover your cursor over the field to see whether a plant has already died. Check this before you tear down and rebuild the whole Xenic Farm and lose time.

๐Ÿ“ฆ How to get Spacekorn Seeds

The Spacekorn Seed is a germ item with a storage value of 0. You can't buy it in a shop; you get it through the farming and extraction cycle. The basic variety can be found as a resource node out in the world and then multiplied in the Xenic Farm. One of the harvests, Wooly Korn, has this item description: "This hard fibrous shell should contain a few spacekorn seed. A grinder is required to extract them."

In other words, you harvest Wooly Korn as a raw product first, then extract usable seeds for replanting with a grinder, plus a heat-insulating fiber byproduct from the hard shell, Thermal Wool. Once you have a handful of seeds, you no longer need a resource node for supplies. With proper care, the running Xenic Farm produces new seeds for the next round of planting.

๐ŸŒพ SpaceCraft Spacekorn varieties at a glance

Player reports so far confirm three distinct Spacekorn varieties, each with its own growing conditions:

VarietyConditionNotes
Plain varietyLight, water, normal temperatureBasic variety, usable directly as food
Woolly variety (Wooly Korn)Cold + normal lightHard fiber shell, a grinder is needed to extract the seeds
Sour varietyHeat + Carbonic FertilizerStalls without this specific fertilizer

For the basic variety, the in-game encyclopedia lists concrete growth times: germination after about 2 hours 51 minutes, full maturity after about 1 day 14 hours. Community reports without fertilizer range from 24 to 30 hours until harvest. The difference is probably due to different light and temperature conditions on each field.

Fertilizer itself is considered optional and, according to player reports, mainly affects the harvest amount (pulp) rather than the growth time. The woolly and sour varieties don't need more care, just different field settings than the basic one. If you want to grow both at once, you need separate fields with different temperature and fertilizer settings.

๐Ÿ”— What you need Spacekorn for

The crop isn't an end in itself. It is the starting point of a small crafting chain of its own:

  • Food: According to the item description, Spacekorn Seeds work as a food source for your crew without any extra step.
  • Xenic Protein: The Xenic Farm turns the organic byproduct of the harvest into Xenic Protein, a simple product that serves as the base for fertilizers, including the Carbonic Fertilizer that the sour variety needs to grow. That closes the loop. Selling it directly is hardly worth it: the market value is about 1 credit per unit, so the real value lies in further processing.
  • Xenic Oil: The Chemical Factory turns Spacekorn Seeds into an organic hydrocarbon called Xenic Oil, a liquid with a much higher material value than the input.

Values, recipe amounts and uses can change with Early Access patches, so check current numbers in a database before you plan a large farm around them.

Once your base is up and running, the SpaceCraft ship building guide explains ship weight, thrust and Integrity.

๐Ÿ’ก Common problems

"Xenic Farm has no power": The farm has no generator of its own. Without an active cable or pylon connection to a power plant or your Command Center, it stays unpowered and produces nothing, even if water and seeds are ready. Budget about 10 extra power for it.

"Nothing grows even though everything is connected": Check the four water terminals on the field first. A general water connection to the Xenic Farm is not enough. Then hover over the field to see whether the plant has already died instead of just waiting longer.

"I can't find any seeds": The basic variety appears as a natural resource node; our guide to finding resources explains how to scan for nodes. You can also process Wooly Korn into more seeds with a grinder, so after the first harvest you no longer depend on finding a node.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions about SpaceCraft Spacekorn

Where do I find Spacekorn Seeds in SpaceCraft?
The basic variety appears as a natural resource node. You can extract additional seeds from Wooly Korn with a grinder, and after the first harvest the Xenic Farm supplies new seeds itself.

Why is nothing growing in my Xenic Farm?
Usually the water at the four field terminals is missing (a general connection is not enough), the heating is off or the farm has no power.

Which Spacekorn varieties are there?
The plain variety (normal temperature), the woolly variety that yields Wooly Korn (cold, grinder needed) and the sour variety (heat plus Carbonic Fertilizer).

How long does the crop take to grow?
The in-game encyclopedia lists germination after about 2 hours 51 minutes and full maturity after about 1 day 14 hours for the basic variety. Players report 24 to 30 hours without fertilizer.

Is fertilizer required?
Only for the sour variety, which needs Carbonic Fertilizer. Otherwise fertilizer is optional and mainly increases the harvest amount.

What do I use the harvest for?
As direct food for your crew and for processing into Xenic Protein (the base for fertilizer) and Xenic Oil in the Chemical Factory.

As of: Early Access (July 2026). Information on the Xenic Farm and Spacekorn checked against item databases and player discussions; values and variety names may change with future patches.
