Graveyard Keeper 2 Tech Points: How to Farm Red, Green and Blue

Graveyard Keeper 2 Tech Points: How to Farm Red, Green and Blue

Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points come in three separate colors, and according to the game data analyzed by the community wiki, red is the bottleneck: the tech tree costs 11,157 red points, but every study combined only pays out 5,105. Green and blue are covered by the Study Table with plenty to spare. For the rest of the red, you have to gather, craft and make smart use of books and dishes.

This guide shows where Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points come from, how big the red gap really is and which sources are worth your time. The numbers come from the community wiki graveyard-keeper.wiki, which says it pulled them from the balance files of build 25509347. We label them as wiki data, and our own math is marked as such.

๐ŸŽจ Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points: three colors, three separate pools

Every node in the tech tree costs red, green or blue Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points, often a mix of them. According to graveyard-keeper.wiki, you can't convert one color into another. Extra green won't help you with a red node. The in-game costs match the data, too: Reanimation III asks for 300 blue points, exactly the value the game files list.

The community wiki names four ways to earn Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points: studying items at the Study Table, gathering in the world, crafting at workbenches and using certain items directly. The source says there are no multipliers, so every listed value is the full payout.

๐ŸŒณ What the tech tree costs in Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points

The wiki counts five research branches with 206 nodes in total, plus a free Cooking tab with 20 entries that cost no Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points.

BranchNodesRedGreenBlue
Building524,470257670
Metallurgy453,680330340
Farming3452,575360
Theology289307951,120
Anatomy and Alchemy472,0721,1721,642
Total20611,1575,1294,132

We added up the columns, and the totals check out. One thing stands out: Building and Metallurgy eat 73 percent of all red points between them. Farming, on the other hand, gets by on 5 red, all of it for the Millstone. The wiki isn't fully consistent here: another page talks about 236 entries instead of 206 nodes plus 20 cooking recipes.

๐Ÿ”“ Not every branch is open from the start

According to the wiki, Building, Metallurgy and Farming are available from the opening. Theology unlocks during the Nun's quest "Holy Moly!", and the Anatomy and Alchemy line only opens once you put your first corpse on the autopsy table. Blue tech points you earn before that don't expire. You can bank them until Theology opens up.

Ten nodes don't cost any tech points at all. They need reputation with a character instead. One example is Steel Smithing, which the wiki says won't appear until Jack reaches 70 reputation. Farming more Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points won't lift a lock like that.

๐Ÿ”ฌ The Study Table: green and blue to spare

At the Study Table, you break items down into Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points. According to graveyard-keeper.wiki, there are 396 studyable entries, and the item is used up in the process. Every study costs Science and roughly 6 to 32 energy. With the Researcher perk, the source says that drops to 2 to 14.

You make Science through the Writing Supplies tech on the Theology tab. Per the wiki, Clean Paper gives 1 Science, Science Kit I gives 30 and Science Kit II gives 60. The source puts your first Study Table in the church basement.

ColorAll studiesTree costCoverage
Red5,10511,15745.8%
Green6,4705,129126.1%
Blue5,3854,132130.3%

The coverage rate is our own math based on the wiki values. It shows that if you study everything, you end up with 1,341 green and 1,253 blue points left over. Red, however, is still 6,052 short, even after you've studied every single item once.

โญ The studies that pay the most Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points

  • Master Sword and Master Armor: 150 red and 40 blue each, the best red study in the game.
  • Steel tools (Steel Axe, Pickaxe, Hammer or Shovel): 100 red and 20 blue each.
  • Necronomicon: 300 blue, the biggest single study of all.
  • Goldfish: 50 red, 50 green and 50 blue plus 1 Faith, the best all-round study according to the wiki.
  • Dream Dust and Marble Cross II: 50 blue each.

A good tip for the early game is the 19 alchemic powders. According to the game data, they're the only studies you can do from the start without a Study Table, and each pays 10 red, 10 green and 10 blue for 1 energy. All 19 together give you 190 points of every color. How to mix the powders in the lab is covered in our Graveyard Keeper 2 alchemy guide.

โ›๏ธ Gathering and crafting: your daily red income

Per graveyard-keeper.wiki, gathering pays out these Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points per action:

ActionRedGreen
Mining stone and ore (per node)1โ€“3โ€“
Chopping a tree0โ€“21โ€“3
Pulling a stump0โ€“11
Picking berries and flowers, clearing bushesโ€“1
Harvesting garden bedsโ€“0 or 2
Digging a grave and burying a body2โ€“

Graves are the only gathering action with a fixed red payout. Mining gives about the same on average, but it varies. For crafting, the wiki lists Marble Fence I and II at 15 red each as the best red recipes, followed by Master Armor and Master Sword at 12 each. Blue comes from building Marble Cross II and Marble Fence II, also 15 each. These recipes only arrive later in the game, though, with the stonemason and marble quarry lines.

๐Ÿงฎ Our math: how big the red gap is

We converted the 6,052 missing red Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points into actions, rounded up each time and assuming you get them from a single source only:

SourceRed per unitNeeded for 6,052 red
Digging and burying a grave23,026 graves
Crafting a Master Sword12505 swords
Crafting a Marble Fence15404 fences
Eating an Elder's meal30202 meals
Reading a Red Techbook25243 books
Red Techbook II or Heavenly salmon50122 each

Nobody plays any of these numbers on its own, since the game mixes everything anyway. Still, the table shows how differently the sources weigh in Graveyard Keeper 2: a single Red Techbook II replaces 25 burials. And a Master Sword pays 150 red once when you study it, but only 12 when you craft it. So study your first one before you sell it or melt it down.

๐Ÿ“š Books and dishes as a shortcut

The fastest Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points come from items you simply use. According to graveyard-keeper.wiki, there are Techbooks in every color worth 25 points, with a second tier worth 50. They're printed at the Printing Press. One caveat: the official patch notes for update 1.007 say the "self-study books" were rebalanced. Neither source says whether that means the Techbooks or whether the wiki values already reflect it. Check the tooltip in your game.

Then there are dishes from the kitchen, which the wiki says pay out without any doubling or tripling:

  • Heavenly salmon: 50 red
  • Kraken steak: 50 blue, cooked in the Kitchen Oven
  • Fried golden carp: 50 green, also cooked in the Kitchen Oven
  • Elder's meal: 30 red, green and blue each
  • Fisherman's pie: 10 red, green and blue each

For red, the salmon is the strongest meal. For all three colors at once, go with the Elder's meal.

๐ŸงŸ Zombies and tech points

The undead earn Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points as well. According to the official patch notes, zombies have earned red tech points for winning fights since update 1.007, and since update 1.011 zombie workers get points when they finish a craft. They still need the required mastery to start a recipe, though.

The patch notes don't say outright whether these points flow into your own pool. According to the community wiki, a worker's points go into its personal pool for perks. How perk slots and talent trees work is explained in our guide to Graveyard Keeper 2 zombies.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Our order for red Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points

  • Early on: study the alchemic powders and fill graves. Every burial gives 2 red.
  • Study everything once: each item only pays the first time. According to the wiki, bronze, silver and gold versions count separately.
  • Don't hoard green: Farming costs almost no red. If you have green left over, finish that branch, for example with Zombie Gardening.
  • Later: the Printing Press for Techbooks, plus fish dishes and marble recipes as a steady red source.

โ“ FAQ: Graveyard Keeper 2 tech points

No. According to the community wiki, red, green and blue are separate pools.

Where do I get my first blue points early on?

According to the wiki, from the Study Table in the church basement and from the alchemic powders, which give 10 blue each.

Checked against update 1.011 as of October 2026. Costs, study yields, gathering and crafting values, books, dishes, unlocks and reputation gates come from the community wiki graveyard-keeper.wiki (pages from September 24 and 28, 2026, pulled from build 25509347). Zombie points and the book rebalance come from the official Steam patch notes 1.006, 1.007 and 1.011. Coverage rates and the red gap conversion are our own math.
