SpaceCraft Blueprints: Where to Find, Sell and Use Them (2026)

SpaceCraft Blueprints: Where to Find, Sell and Use Them (2026)

SpaceCraft blueprints are items that unlock the recipe for exactly one item, such as a ship module, a component or a patch. You mostly find them in crates inside shipwrecks, and you then build the item in the Workshop. Their base value is only 10 credits, but players on the Trade Nexus sometimes ask thousands of credits for them.

This guide explains what a blueprint actually does, where it comes from, how it differs from permits and lab research, and how patches fit in. All values come from the game database spacecraft.tools, banrado's SpaceCraft database and the Shiro Games patch notes. Player statements are marked as community reports.

๐Ÿ“œ What a Blueprint Is

A blueprint is an item of its own. According to its item description, it contains all instructions needed to build a specific part and can be read by humans or machines. Every blueprint carries the name of its target, for example "Blueprint: Metal Sheet" or "Blueprint: BESS Module", and unlocks exactly that recipe. spacecraft.tools lists around 85 such entries, and some targets such as Metal Sheet have several variants.

Every blueprint has a base value of 10 credits. The game data sorts them into loot tiers: the Metal Sheet blueprints sit at tier 4 to 5, Battery Patch: Overload I at tier 5 and the Cooling Laser at tier 9. None of the checked blueprints lists a permit as its unlock.

๐Ÿงฉ What SpaceCraft Blueprints Unlock

The range is wider than the name suggests. There are blueprints for whole modules, for intermediate products and for patches:

Blueprint forStationIngredientsResult
Cooling LaserWorkshop1 Small Module Kit, 2 Crystalline Focuser, 5 Aquamarine1 Cooling Laser
Barrier ShieldWorkshop1 Module Kit, 4 Elmerium Engine, 14 m-Crystal Matrix, 5 h-Crystal Matrix1 Barrier Shield
Metal SheetWorkshop4 Aluminum Ingot, 1 Silicon Ingot20 Metal Sheet
Battery Patch: Overload IWorkshop6 Nut and Bolt, 2 Magnetic Coil1 Battery Patch: Overload I

Other examples include Concrete, Diffraction Grating, Crystalline Focuser, Semiconductor Substrate, Watertight Pipe, the BESS Module and the Cold-Protec Suit Chip. The blueprint is not listed as an ingredient in the recipe data. It is the requirement that makes the recipe appear in the first place.

๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Finding Blueprints: Shipwrecks

The source documented in the game data is crates in shipwrecks. spacecraft.tools lists the drop chance per crate and per wreck for many blueprints, broken down by sector and exploration level. The chances sit in the low single digits, so you will search many wrecks before a specific blueprint shows up.

Blueprint forSector (level)Chance per wreck
Radar Patch: Range ICairn (1), Moor (2)7.82%
Cooling LaserJester (6)5.41%
Cooling LaserIdol, Vestige (3)5.14%
FTL Patch: Charted Skies IFool's Rim (2)4.71%
Cooling LaserHorizon (2)3.62%

The FTL Patch: Charted Skies I blueprint drops in 13 sectors according to the database. Not every blueprint has a documented source: for the Barrier Shield, the database lists no locations. A German community guide on Steam describes yellow crates in wrecks that can hold goods, patches and sometimes blueprints. How to search sectors systematically is covered in our guide to finding resources.

๐Ÿช Buying and Selling Blueprints on the Trade Nexus

Blueprints can be traded. The market overview on spacecraft.tools shows player sell orders, including 43 blueprint offers. Prices swing wildly because players set them. A snapshot of the recorded offers from early October 2026, not a fixed value:

Blueprint forAvg. priceRange
Cooling Laserapprox. 10,886 credits150 to 88,888 credits
Battery Patch: Overload Iapprox. 5,100 creditsโ€“
FTL Patch: Charted Skies Iapprox. 4,027 credits250 to 88,888 credits

There is a big gap between the 10-credit base value and the player market. If you find a duplicate or a blueprint you don't need, you can list it on the Trade Nexus. Buyers pay an 8% purchase tax, and since Community Update #1 sell orders expire after 14 days. Since Major Update #1 you can also post buy orders for a blueprint you are looking for. More ways to earn are covered in our credits guide.

๐Ÿง  Blueprints, Permits and the Lab Compared

The game has three separate ways to unlock recipes. Mixing them up sends you looking in the wrong place:

SystemCostResult
PermitsCreditsBundles of buildings and recipes, e.g. Automated Factories (450 credits) with Assembler, Warehouse, Landing Pad, Drone Dispatcher and Drone
LabScience points plus materials, sometimes with a waitRecipes around the studied resource, e.g. Aquamarine I for 50 Science
BlueprintsFound in wrecks or bought on the Trade NexusRecipe for exactly one item

According to spacecraft.tools, permit prices range from 40 credits (Modular Systems) to 60,000 credits (Heavy Beam). You unlock the Laboratory at Science level 5 (Heat Management).

๐Ÿ”ง Patches: Items With Their Own Blueprints

Patches are not "small blueprints" but a separate item category with more than 60 entries, such as battery, FTL, laser, radar, shield and module patches. According to the item description, a patch is attached to a ship module. If you recycle the module, the patch survives with a 50% chance.

Patches are built in the Workshop, and you need the matching blueprint for that. Two examples: Radar Patch: Range I raises maximum radar range by 25%, Battery Patch: Overload I raises energy storage by 25%. Most patches come in tiers I to III. Since Major Update #1 you can install patches without removing the module from your ship, also at your base's shipyard. You can remove patches at any time, but they break with an 80% chance. Every module now has a level and only accepts patches of the same or a lower level. Details are in our patch guide and the modules guide.

โš ๏ธ What the Community Reports

The following points come from Steam discussions and are not officially confirmed. One player explains that you can craft an item once the blueprint is in your inventory; at specialized stations you select it as a recipe. Players used to report that blueprints were lost on death. Major Update #1 officially fixed this: blueprints can now be stored and are no longer lost when you die.

Important for patches: you recycle in the Recycling Plant, which you unlock at Technology level 2 since Community Update #1. An attached patch survives recycling its module only with a 50% chance.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions about SpaceCraft Blueprints

Where do I find blueprints in SpaceCraft?
In crates inside shipwrecks. spacecraft.tools lists drop chances of roughly 3 to 8 percent per wreck for many blueprints, depending on the sector. You can also buy them from other players on the Trade Nexus.

What does a blueprint do?
It unlocks the recipe for exactly one item, such as a module like the Cooling Laser, a component like Metal Sheet or a patch. You craft it in the Workshop.

Are blueprints the same as permits?
No. You buy permits with credits, and they unlock whole bundles. Blueprints are single items from wrecks or the player market.

What are blueprints worth?
Their base value is 10 credits. On the Trade Nexus, players often ask much more, sometimes several thousand credits on average. Prices vary a lot.

Are patches blueprints?
No. Patches are separate items that you attach to a module. You do need a matching blueprint to build them, though.

As of October 2026, SpaceCraft Early Access v0.5.25674.
