Enshrouded Battlemage Build 1.0: Skills, Wand and Parries

Enshrouded Battlemage Build 1.0: Skills, Wand and Parries

An Enshrouded battlemage build for version 1.0 uses the wand as its main weapon at mid range and gets mana back from hits and parries. Your points go into Intelligence, Eternal Spark, Arcane Deflection, Unity and the new wand attacks, plus Life Essences for extra health.

The pure spellcaster with a staff is covered in our Enshrouded mage build. This guide is about the Battlemage: which nodes connect in 1.0, where the bridges into the Warrior area are, how many points the Enshrouded battlemage build costs and how much of its health comes from Intelligence.

๐Ÿงญ Is the Battlemage still in 1.0?

Enshrouded has no fixed class pick. The skill tree is a web split into sub-areas. In Early Access, the Battlemage sat in the blue part of the tree next to areas like Wizard and Healer, as German guides from GIGA (January 2024) and 4netplayers show for the German client.

In 1.0, the game data database enshrouded.th.gl puts every node into one of four groups only: General, Warrior, Ranger and Mage. Sub-areas like the Battlemage don't show up there. Players on Steam still talk about a Battlemage branch in the blue part after the 1.0 reset. We couldn't confirm whether the label is still shown in the 1.0 client.

For an Enshrouded battlemage build, that doesn't matter much. What counts is which nodes link up. The database shows those links for every node, and the skill order below is built on them.

๐Ÿช„ Core nodes of the Enshrouded battlemage build

All values for the Enshrouded battlemage build come from enshrouded.th.gl for version 1.0. Costs are skill points. For nodes with three levels, the database lists only one cost value, and it doesn't say whether that applies per level.

The cost changes for the two wand attacks come from Keen's Patch #1 changelog. It doesn't give the new mana value for Wand Evasion Attack, so check the tooltip in your game.

In Early Access, the English community wiki listed Unity, Sting, Eternal Spark, Life Burst, Life Essences and Arcane Deflection under the Battlemage. These nodes still connect in 1.0, but many numbers are new. Back then, Life Burst healed 3 times your Intelligence according to the wiki. In the 1.0 data, it's 5 times.

โš”๏ธ The bridges into the Warrior area

What makes the Battlemage special: two nodes link it straight to the red Warrior area. According to the database, Eternal Spark leads to Evasion Attack (4 points, Warrior). With a melee weapon, you press attack while evading to dash at the enemy for 50% extra weapon damage. Its Block Breaker effect fills a blocking enemy's stun bar twice as fast. It costs 25 stamina.

The second bridge is Absorb (1 point, Warrior). When you take magic damage, you have a 4/8/12% chance to restore 1 mana per health point lost. Absorb leads to Life Burst and is reached from Warden and Constitution on the other side. If you start from a tank setup, this is your way into the Enshrouded battlemage build.

For health, Life Essences (1 point) hangs off Spirit: your max health rises by 3, 6 or 9 times your Intelligence. In a pinch, Blood Magic (4) refills up to 35% of your mana when it drops below 20%, paid with health. The cooldown is 2 minutes.

๐ŸŒ€ Blink instead of the dodge roll

Eternal Spark also leads to Blink (4 points). It replaces the dodge roll with a short-range teleport and costs 20 stamina. Blink Attack (2) triggers a fire explosion when you blink into an enemy, and its damage and mana cost scale with Intelligence. Emergency Blink (2) lets you blink while stunned and breaks the stun.

Test in game whether Blink works together with Wand Evasion Attack in your Enshrouded battlemage build. The database doesn't say. If you want the disc from your dodge, try both nodes on their own first before you spend runes on a respec.

๐Ÿ”ข Skill order for the Enshrouded battlemage build

The order for the Enshrouded battlemage build follows the connections from the database. The numbers in brackets are the minimum cost for the first level.

  1. Intelligence (1) and Double Jump (2): both sit right next to the Spark starting node.
  2. Eternal Spark (1), Arcane Deflection (1), Unity (1): the mana loop from hits and parries.
  3. Wand Evasion Attack (4): the main attack of the build.
  4. Spirit (1) and Life Essences (1): more mana and health.
  5. Sting (3) and Life Burst (4): damage and group healing.
  6. Wand Specialization (3), Arcane Proliferation (3), Wand Mastery (1): the Focus special attack, a 30% chance for double projectiles and up to +15% wand damage.
  7. Aerial Wand Attack (3) and Exalted (5): area damage from the jump, then Intelligence from the Flame.
  8. Extras: the Blink chain (8 points) or Evasion Attack (4) as a melee bridge.

Where the points come from and what a respec at the Flame Altar costs is in our Enshrouded skill points guide.

๐Ÿ“Š Our math: points and Intelligence

We ran the numbers on the Enshrouded battlemage build. The nine core nodes from the table cost 23 points together. Add Spirit, Life Essences, the three wand nodes (7), the Blink chain (8) and Evasion Attack (4), and you land at 44 points minimum. According to the community wiki, every level gives two points, so you get 98 from leveling alone by level 50.

Intelligence carries the Enshrouded battlemage build twice. The database counts 11 Intelligence nodes in the tree. Exalted adds one point for every two Flame levels, so up to 5 at the top Flame level 11. Without gear, that's around 16 Intelligence.

IntelligenceMagic damageLife Essences level 3Life Burst per killEquals Constitution
5+25%+45 health250.9 points
10+50%+90 health501.8 points
15+75%+135 health752.7 points

Per the game data, Constitution gives 50 health per point. Life Essences only catches up with three points of Constitution (150 health) at around 17 Intelligence. So the Battlemage doesn't get tanky from Life Essences alone. It's the combo with Life Burst, which also heals everyone within 15 meters in co-op.

๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ Weapons: wand plus melee?

Your main weapon is the wand. According to Keen Games, it has a heavy attack in 1.0 that pierces enemies and interrupts attacks from weaker enemies. A good find is the Ashwood Wand with +16 Mana Regeneration, and wands with Multishot are worth a look too. The full wand table is in the mage guide.

A melee weapon mainly pays off in an Enshrouded battlemage build for parrying. Per the game data, Arcane Deflection works with any melee weapon, a shield or a ward. The Alchemist crafts wards, so you can parry without leaving the magic gear line.

Keep in mind: Intelligence raises magic damage, not melee damage. Evasion Attack with a sword or axe stays weak without Strength. Use the melee weapon for parries and stuns and let the wand do the damage. Keen also lists fixes in 1.0 for switching between wand and staff in combat.

Since Patch #1 (1.0.1.0, November 2, 2026), an old trick no longer works: according to Keen's changelog, cancelling each wand shot with a block to fire faster no longer boosts your attack speed. Blocking still matters for parries and Arcane Deflection, but it won't raise your rate of fire anymore.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Armor and food

For wand players and the Enshrouded battlemage build, the database lists two craftable Alchemist sets: Warlock at level 20 (+18% wand damage and +285 health in total) and Hailcaster at level 30 (+23% wand damage, +296 health). The Warlock Helmet alone brings +6% magical critical strike chance and +25% critical strike damage. Later on, mix Hailcaster with pieces from higher staff sets.

For food, the Enshrouded battlemage build goes for magic damage. Per the database, the Meat and Mushroom Skewer gives +30 health, +4 Mana Regeneration and +9% magic damage for 30 minutes. The Meat and Azure Russula Skewer is stronger with +40 health, +8 Mana Regeneration and +12% magic damage for 35 minutes. Which food types stack is in our Enshrouded food buffs guide.

โ“ Enshrouded battlemage build FAQ

What's the difference between a Battlemage and a Wizard?

The Wizard casts spells with a staff and mana. The Battlemage shoots with a wand, gets mana back through Unity and parries, and can take a hit in melee.

Does a Battlemage need a melee weapon?

Not necessarily. For Arcane Deflection you need something to parry with, though: a melee weapon, a shield or a ward.

Do I have to respec after 1.0?

Yes. According to Keen Games, 1.0 resets the skill tree the first time you load an old save, so every Enshrouded battlemage build starts from scratch.

How much Intelligence does the Enshrouded battlemage build get from the tree?

The database counts 11 Intelligence nodes. Exalted adds up to 5 more through the Flame levels.

Is the Battlemage good in co-op?

Yes. Life Burst heals every player within 15 meters by 5 times your Intelligence whenever you kill an enemy with a magic weapon.

More playstyles are in our Enshrouded builds overview.
