Star Metal is an otherworldly metal that hits the world of Hyboria in the form of meteors. It's hidden inside the meteor's shell, recognizable by a glowing blue core and columns of smoke rising from the impact site. You won't get to it without blasting.

⚠️ Important warning: meteors can destroy player structures when they hit. Don't build your base in the impact zone.

🗺️ Where to find Star Metal

According to community guides, Star Metal in the Exiled Lands only shows up in the north of the map, in the snowy northwest. Meteors come down at irregular intervals, and Gamer Guides reports 5 to 15 meteors per shower.

🏔️ Main area: the snowy northwest
According to Gamer Guides, meteor showers only happen in the snowy northwest, and a good spot to wait is northeast of the Mounds of the Dead near Frostneedle Forest. The rocks land at random, sometimes on cliffs or slopes that are hard to reach.

On the second map, according to community guides, Star Metal meteors land in the center of the island around The Tower.

🧨 Step 1: blast the meteor

You can't mine Star Metal directly. According to Gamer Guides, the dark metal shell has to be destroyed with an explosive; a pickaxe alone won't do it. The guide lists these options:

Per Gamer Guides, jars and traps sometimes go off without cracking the shell, usually because they're too far from the meteor. Place them right against the rock.

Making an Explosive Jar (recommended):

• 1x Earthenware Jug
• 5x Tar
• 1x Dragonpowder

The recipe is unlocked by the Explosives knowledge, per the Enhanced database, and takes 30 seconds to craft. Place it next to the meteor, light it, then back off immediately. The blast radius is very large.

⚠️ Note: if the shell doesn't crack on the first try, the charge was usually too far away. Blast it again closer to the rock.

⛏️ Step 2: mine the ore

After the blast, the core glows blue. Now you need a tier 4 or higher pickaxe, according to Gamer Guides; the Hardened Steel Pick or the Black Ice Pick are the recommended choices. A plain steel pick won't get you the ore. Make room in your inventory first, since a shower drops several rocks.

Alternative without meteors: per the Enhanced database, you can also transmute Star Metal Ore at the Firebowl Cauldron from 200 Goldstone and 1 Potent Sorcerous Lifeblood, unlocked by the sorcery knowledge "Transmutation: Exotic Ore".

Star Metal Ore alone isn't enough. It needs two more ingredients in the furnace:
