Conan Exiles Vines 2026: Locations, Tools and Uses

Conan Exiles vines come mainly from vine-covered trees in the jungle and river biomes of the Exiled Lands and from the world boss Rotbranch. On the Isle of Siptah you also get them from vault loot. You harvest them with a sickle and turn them into Twine and Plant Fiber at the Tanner's Table.

The resource looks boring, but it is by far the lightest source of Twine in the game, and Twine shows up in more than 400 recipes according to the database. This guide covers where to find vines, the right tool, the confirmed recipes and the math behind a dedicated vine run.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Where to find Conan Exiles vines

According to the item description in the Enhanced database, Vines are a source of plant fiber that gets cut in the swamps of the Exiled Lands. In practice, the sources split into three very different routes.

Exiled Lands: Conan Exiles vines on jungle and river trees

The most reliable source is small palms and vine-covered trees in the jungle and river biomes, plus the desert canyons. That comes from experienced players on the official Funcom forums, so treat it as a community claim. Funcom never documented which plant models drop vines. Several forum threads agree that the vine trees are the source, though.

If you read an older guide, keep this in mind: there was a period when vines could not be harvested in the Exiled Lands at all. Players report that it happened when trees were reworked to give wood, branches, bark and resin. That is long fixed, and the vine trees yield again. Any text claiming vines in the Exiled Lands only come from chests is out of date.

Isle of Siptah: Seaweed and vault loot

Siptah adds a second source. Players on the Funcom forums consistently report that underwater plants called Seaweed drop vines there when you harvest them with a sickle. This is also a community claim.

The loot route is the one you can actually verify: the Enhanced database lists Vines in the resource loot table of the flooded vaults, with 5 to 12 per entry. If you run vaults on Siptah anyway, you collect vines on the side.

Rotbranch: the boss as a source of Conan Exiles vines

The legendary world boss Rotbranch is the densest single source. The Enhanced database lists Vines in its loot with a 50 percent chance. You harvest it like an animal, and the haul also includes Bone, Exotic Flesh, Thick Hide and a Skeleton Key.

Rotbranch is no beginner fight: database values list 15,687 HP, 65 armor and 108,000 base XP. It spawns at several points across the desert, highlands, jungle and tundra. The coordinate lists you find online (one spot is near the Circle of Swords) come from databases and the community, not from Funcom. Check our best armor guide before you go.

โš’๏ธ The right tool: sickle, not pickaxe

Use a sickle for Conan Exiles vines. The reason is simple, but it matters on every trip: an axe or pickaxe on a tree also hands you wood and bark, and you end up dumping junk all run long. The sickle keeps your inventory clean. That advice also comes from the Funcom forums, not from an official balance statement.

The game has several sickle tiers, from the Iron Sickle through Steel, Hardened Steel and Star Metal up to the Acheronian Sickle and beyond. Players agree that higher-tier tools give more per swing. We found no official yield numbers per sickle tier for vines, so we don't list any.

๐Ÿงช What you need Conan Exiles vines for

Vines weigh 0.05 each and stack to 1,000. Their main job is processing at the Tanner's Table, which costs 100 Wood to build. There, vines become two basic materials that nearly every recipe touches.

Fiber Bindings are why vines matter early: without them you can't drag an unconscious enemy home. The bindings weigh 1.88 and have 300 durability, which decides how far you can pull a captive. What happens next is in our Conan Exiles thralls guide.

Vines also appear in more than 65 recipes. Taming recipes at the Animal Pen each take one vine, vines are part of manure production in the stables, and a couple of hanging plant decorations need 5 or 10 vines. If you raise horses, the details are in our horse guide.

๐Ÿ“Š The math: why vines beat plant fiber

This is the point most guides on Conan Exiles vines skip. At the Tanner's Table, one vine makes one Twine. From Plant Fiber you need three units for the same Twine. Both weigh exactly 0.05 according to the database.

So one Twine costs you 0.05 carry weight through vines and 0.15 through plant fiber, three times as much. A full stack of 1,000 vines weighs 50 and turns into 1,000 Twine; the same amount via plant fiber would weigh 150. If you want to farm without getting encumbered, that is the whole difference.

The catch: vines are tied to specific spots, while plant fiber is everywhere. A vine route pays off as a planned gathering run with a thrall as a pack carrier, not as something you pick up on the side.

โœจ What Enhanced changed, and what it didn't

Since Conan Exiles moved to UE5 on May 5, 2026, many players ask whether resources shifted. For Conan Exiles vines, the answer you can back up is no. The Enhanced launch patch notes mention new foliage models, new interaction animations, extra harvesting effects and sounds, and bigger stack sizes for many resources. They contain no line about vines, sickles or harvest yields.

Patch 2.1.0 (August 18, 2026) and the later updates up to hotfix 3.0.1 (October 8, 2026) don't change that either, according to the official patch notes. That includes patch 2.2.0, hotfixes 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 and patch 3.0.0. The only harvest-related entry in 2.1.0 says partly sunken trees were moved so you can harvest them again. An old guide's locations still work; only the claim that vines can't be harvested in the Exiled Lands is outdated.

One more detail that often gets repeated wrong: according to the Enhanced database and the community wiki, Fiber Bindings currently take 5 Twine and 5 Plant Fiber. Older databases still list 10 Vines and 5 Plant Fiber.

๐Ÿ’ก How a vine run works in practice

A vine run in Conan Exiles goes smoothest like this: take the best sickle you can build and a thrall as a pack carrier. Follow the river biome and work through the vine-covered trees. In the jungle they grow closer together, but there are more enemies. Put a Tanner's Table close to your base so you can convert vines straight into Twine. At three seconds per craft, that's done faster than it sounds.

If you're sorting out your materials in general, the Conan Exiles resources guide gives you the overview. More guides are on the Conan Exiles overview.

๐ŸŽฏ FAQ: Conan Exiles vines

What is the best tool for Conan Exiles vines?

The sickle. Unlike an axe or pickaxe, it doesn't fill your inventory with extra wood and bark. That's a community tip from the Funcom forums, not an official statement.

Where do I find vines in the Exiled Lands?

On vine-covered trees and small palms in the jungle and river biomes and in the desert canyons. You also get them by harvesting Rotbranch, which drops vines with a 50 percent chance according to the database.

How many vines do I need for one Twine?

Exactly one. At the Tanner's Table, 1 vine becomes 1 Twine in 3 seconds. Through Plant Fiber you need three units for the same Twine.

Can I turn vines into Plant Fiber?

Yes, also at the Tanner's Table. According to the community wiki, 1 vine becomes 3 Plant Fiber.

Do I need vines for Fiber Bindings?

Indirectly. Fiber Bindings take 5 Twine and 5 Plant Fiber according to the Enhanced database, and you can make both from vines.

Did the Enhanced update change vines?

No. Neither the Enhanced launch notes from May 5, 2026 nor patch 2.1.0 or the later updates up to hotfix 3.0.1 from October 8, 2026 mention any change to vines, their locations or harvest yields.

Checked against the Enhanced item and recipe database (conanexiles.gaming.tools), the community wiki on Fandom (Improved Tanner's Table, Fiber Bindings), the GamerGuides database (Rotbranch values), Funcom's official patch notes for Conan Exiles Enhanced up to hotfix 3.0.1 and the official Funcom forums as of October 2026. Community claims from the forums are: vine-covered trees and small palms as a source, Seaweed on Siptah, the sickle tip and higher yields from better tools. We could not confirm yield numbers per sickle tier, so they stay open.
