Star Metal tip: Watch for smoke and explosions in the sky. That's where a meteor just came down.

โš’๏ธ Farming Conan Exiles resources faster: tools and helpers

How fast you gather depends mostly on your tool. Higher-tier pickaxes and axes, from stone through iron and steel up to Star Metal tools, give more per hit and last longer. Switch to better tools early instead of chewing through whole veins with the stone version.

  • Tool tier matters: the better the pickaxe, the more ore per hit. That saves a lot of time on iron and Black Ice especially.
  • Tool kits: kits add durability and efficiency to your tools on top.
  • Watch your carry weight: ore and stone are heavy. A point in Expertise (carry weight) or a Bearer thrall with a big inventory brings more home in one trip.

If you process large amounts regularly, upgrade your Furnace first. According to Funcom, since Update 2.1 (October 2020) speed and fuel use depend on the tier and type of the crafting station, not on the thrall. A tier 3 or 4 Smelter thrall unlocks extra Furnace recipes according to the community wiki. How to capture and use these helpers is in our Conan Exiles thralls guide.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Beginner farming route

To get the most out of your first hours, gather your Conan Exiles resources in this order. Start with wood and stone in the southern starting region for tools, weapons and your first shelter. Then head to the riverbanks and mountain slopes, where iron ore sits in large amounts.

With enough iron in your bags, your own Furnace pays off for turning it into bars for better gear. Only after that should you take on dangerous areas like the Shattered Springs (Brimstone) or the icy north (Black Ice). Both need better gear and preparation.
