Conan Exiles Resin: Dryer, Trees and Every Confirmed Recipe

Conan Exiles Resin: Dryer, Trees and Every Confirmed Recipe

The most reliable source of Conan Exiles Resin is the Dryer: one piece of Wood turns into two Dry Wood plus one Resin. You can also knock it off trees with a pickaxe, but that only gives you small amounts.

You mostly need it for Insulated Wood and for Stone Consolidant, and without Stone Consolidant there are no Hardened Bricks. This guide covers both sources, every recipe we could confirm and the math on how long a Dryer has to run for the big furnace upgrades.

๐ŸŒฒ What Conan Exiles Resin is

Resin is a byproduct of woodworking, and it's still around in Conan Exiles Enhanced. Funcom's notes for Patch 3.0.0 from October 6, 2026 say that "Woodcutter storage boxes can now store Resin." None of the Enhanced patch notes up to Hotfix 3.0.1 mention a change to the recipes that use it.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Source 1: the Dryer

The Dryer is your main source. According to the community wiki, it has two Dry Wood recipes, but only one of them gives you the byproduct you're after:

InputOutputTimeByproduct
1 Wood2 Dry Wood40 seconds1 Resin
5 Branch1 Dry Wood40 secondsnone

So load it with regular Wood, not Branches. The Branch recipe is only a fallback for Dry Wood. For fuel, player posts on the Funcom forums and German guides point to Bark. That's a community claim, and we haven't found anything official on it.

In practice, every load of Wood you haul out of the forest doubles as stock for Insulated Wood and Stone Consolidant. If you're chopping Wood for Shaped Wood and fuel anyway, put some of it straight into the Dryer instead of only drying Branches.

โ›๏ธ Source 2: hit trees with a pickaxe instead of an axe

Plenty of players don't know about the second source. Hit a tree with a pickaxe instead of an axe and you'll occasionally get Resin along with your Wood. Several independent community guides and a player post on the Funcom forums confirm this. Funcom itself hasn't published any numbers.

A German community guide says trees in the highlands and the tundra yield more than the ones down south. GamerGuides also describes the yield changing in those two regions. None of the sources give a per-hit amount, so we won't either. For larger amounts, the Dryer is still the better choice.

๐Ÿ“œ Every recipe that uses Conan Exiles Resin

The community wiki lists the following four recipes along with how much Resin they take. For Insulated Wood, the amount also matches the Enhanced database conanexiles.gaming.tools, which our resources guide relies on:

ResultResin neededOther ingredientsStationTime
1 Insulated Wood21 Dry WoodCarpenter's Bench10 s
5 Stone Consolidant25 Plant FiberFirebowl Cauldron10 s
1 Resin Wine101 Purified Water, 5 Leavening AgentFermentation Barrel30 s
1 Lance Core1010 Insulated Wood, 15 Leather (GamerGuides only)no station listed on the wikiโ€“

According to the wiki, Resin Wine is unlocked through the Specialist Brewing II knowledge. It gives you the Drunken and Warming up effects and quenches thirst.

One contradiction: GamerGuides lists 6 Plant Fiber for Stone Consolidant instead of 5. The community wiki says 5, so that's the number we use here. Worth a quick check in game.

Extra recipes only one source mentions

GamerGuides also lists the Improved Fish Trap and the Improved Shellfish Trap (5 Resin each), several dyes at 1 Resin each, and a Tar recipe made from 10 Resin and 10 Raw Ash. We couldn't find these on the wiki, so treat them as unconfirmed. Older player posts on the forums say the Tar version also needs a named alchemist. We weren't able to check that for Enhanced.

Older guides also list Oil as an ingredient for Insulated Wood. That's outdated, as our Oil guide also notes. The current recipe only calls for Dry Wood and Resin.

๐Ÿงฑ Hardened Brick in Conan Exiles: the real bottleneck

The most important use is a roundabout one. According to the community wiki, Hardened Brick is made in a Furnace from 1 Brick and 1 Stone Consolidant. You brew the Consolidant in the Firebowl Cauldron from Resin and Plant Fiber. Run out of Resin and your whole Hardened Brick build grinds to a halt.

The same goes for the two big furnace upgrades. Per the wiki, the Heat-Efficient Furnace and the Fuel-Efficient Furnace each cost 300 Hardened Brick, 100 Steel Reinforcement and 100 Stone Consolidant. Our guide to Steel and Hardened Steel covers the Steel side.

๐Ÿงฎ The math: how much Conan Exiles Resin a furnace upgrade takes

Here's our own math based on the wiki values. 300 Hardened Brick eat 300 Stone Consolidant, plus another 100 Consolidant directly in the recipe. That's 400 Consolidant. One Cauldron run makes 5, so you need 80 runs at 2 Resin each, or 160 in total.

GoalResin neededWood in the DryerDryer time
1 Insulated Wood2280 s
Aesir Ceiling (9 Insulated Wood)181812 min
1 Resin Wine1010about 6.7 min
1 Lance Core (incl. Insulated Wood)303020 min
Heat-Efficient Furnace160160about 1 h 47 min

At 40 seconds per Wood, a single Dryer puts out 90 Resin an hour. For the furnace, that means it runs for just under 107 minutes. On the side you get 320 Dry Wood, which goes into Insulated Wood and other Carpenter's Bench recipes. Two Dryers cut the time in half. These numbers assume default Conan Exiles settings; on servers with a modified crafting speed they'll shift.

What the math tells you: For Insulated Wood, Resin is the bottleneck, not Dry Wood. 2 Wood give you 4 Dry Wood, but you only need 1 of them. That works out to 45 Insulated Wood per hour per Dryer, with 135 Dry Wood left over. If you're farming specifically for Insulated Wood, Dry Wood is the last thing you need to worry about.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips for farming Conan Exiles Resin

  • Never let the Dryer sit empty: A full stack of Wood runs through on its own while you get other stuff done.
  • Store it with your wood: Since Patch 3.0.0, Resin fits in the Woodcutter storage boxes. Put them within range of your bench and crafting pulls from nearby chests, as explained in our Craft from Storage guide.
  • Plan the furnace upgrade early: 160 Resin doesn't sound like much, but it ties up almost two hours of Dryer time. Two or three Dryers side by side save you a lot of waiting.
  • Don't waste Branches: The Branch recipe gives no byproduct. It's only worth it when you run out of Wood.

If you want to staff your furnace with a thrall, you'll find the right professions in our list of every thrall profession. According to Funcom, since Update 2.1 the thrall doesn't change how fast the furnace works, by the way. That's down to the station itself.

โ“ Conan Exiles Resin FAQ

What's the fastest way to get Resin?

The Dryer. According to the community wiki, one Wood turns into 2 Dry Wood and 1 Resin in 40 seconds, so a single Dryer makes 90 an hour. Hitting trees with a pickaxe only drops some now and then.

Why isn't my Dryer giving me any Resin?

You're probably drying Branches. The Branch recipe (5 Branch into 1 Dry Wood) gives no byproduct, according to the wiki. Only regular Wood produces Resin.

How much Resin do I need for Insulated Wood?

Two Resin and one Dry Wood per piece, made at the Carpenter's Bench in 10 seconds. The wiki and the Enhanced database agree on these amounts.

Do I need Resin for Hardened Brick?

Yes, indirectly. Hardened Brick needs Stone Consolidant, which you make in the Firebowl Cauldron from 2 Resin and 5 Plant Fiber. One run gives you 5 Consolidant, enough for 5 Hardened Brick.

Is Conan Exiles Resin still in Enhanced?

Yes. Funcom mentions it by name in the Patch 3.0.0 notes from October 6, 2026, because the Woodcutter storage boxes can hold it since then. The Enhanced patch notes don't mention any recipe changes.

Checked against Conan Exiles Enhanced with Patch 3.0.0 and Hotfix 3.0.1 (October 8, 2026), as of October 2026. Storage per Funcom's 3.0.0 patch notes, the station rule per Funcom's Update 2.1 post. Recipes and furnace costs per the community wiki on Fandom (maintained by players); Insulated Wood also per the Enhanced database conanexiles.gaming.tools. Tree drops, fuel and the recipes listed only by GamerGuides are community info and not officially confirmed.
