Soulframe Garren Rood: Who He Is and How to Get His Weapon

Soulframe Garren Rood is not a regular NPC or just an item name. He is an Omen Stag, a ghostly, mythical stag tied to one of the first major Pacts in the game. You meet him first in corrupted form as the Torment Stag, and his weapon is called The Royal Tines.

⚔️ Who is Garren Rood in Soulframe?

Key to understanding him: you first face Garren Rood as the Torment Stag, the first big story boss. Only after you free him from the corruption does he reveal himself as Garren Rood.

Beating the Torment Stag also earns you the fragment for the Garren Rood Pact, a set of spiritual abilities with the Arcanics Torment (drains life from enemies and heals you or allies), Behest (weakens foes) and Stampede (spectral stags stun enemies). Worth noting: according to the community-run wiki at wiki.avakot.org, the Fable gives you the Pact's fragment, not the finished Pact. Tuvalkane crafts it for 70 Scrap Iron, 50 Patch Leather, 50 Gossamer Quartz and 5,000 Dracs (27 hours). After the Fable, more copies are available from Avakot (fragment for 3,000 Dracs) and the Wares of Zenith (235 Arcs). The weapon The Royal Tines, on the other hand, now mostly comes as a fully forged drop. Details below.

🗺️ Where you meet Soulframe Garren Rood: the Torment Stag fight

The fight is part of the Fable “The Torment Stag” and takes place in the hidden Glades of Andurin on Midrath. You open the way at the Garren Shrine. According to Avakot you first fight Lady Deora, and right after that the Torment Stag rises.

Before that you solve a puzzle with four stag statues in a chamber. Spectral Sight shows symbols above the murals, and you turn each statue to face the same direction as the stag head on its matching mural. Per the wiki the Fable can be replayed from the Journal.

After you beat the Torment Stag, the freed stag introduces himself as Garren Rood and offers you “the grace of his crown”. Per the community wiki the rewards are: the Pact fragment, one fragment each of the three Garren armor pieces (Garren's Crown of Grace, Regalia of Garren Rood, Garren's Cloven Hosen) and one fragment of The Royal Tines.

⚔️ Garren Rood's weapon: The Royal Tines

The weapon many players are looking for is The Royal Tines, a pair of curved twin blades (Short Blade category, Sharp damage) shaped after the Omen Stag's antlers.

According to Avakot the Fable only gives you one fragment of the weapon. Per the wiki only players who collected fragments before Preludes 15 can craft it, since no more fragments drop. The wiki infobox lists two fragments needed while the update history since Preludes 10 says one, so the wiki contradicts itself here.

Instead, The Royal Tines drops fully forged since Preludes 15: per the wiki from the Vadagar Stag and from the mini-quest A Birdie Flown. At the Wares of Zenith it costs 215 Arcs.

💡 Don't mix it up: Regalia of Garren Rood (armor, not a weapon)

Next to the weapon, the Regalia of Garren Rood comes up a lot. It is not a weapon but an armor piece (chest) from the Garren set. According to Avakot the Fable gives one fragment, but you need four. More fragments drop in the Operation Hark, The Collector, from the Vadagar Stag and from Collector Crates. You craft the Regalia at the smith Tuvalkane from Bond rank 3.

Recipe per the community wiki: 4 fragments, 30 Scrap Brass, 30 Patch Leather, 30 Dendrit Weave and 2,500 Dracs, crafting time 20 hours. How reforging and upgrading gear works in general is in our Soulframe Joineries guide.

🔗 Since when does the weapon drop? What is documented and what isn't

Many players ask roughly this: “Since when can you get Garren Rood's weapon as a drop?” Honest answer after checking the official patch notes for Preludes 13 “A Triquetra of Virtues”, Preludes 14 “The Duelo” including 14.5 “Ode'n Tempers” and Preludes 15 “Gods and Ghosts”: we found no official patch entry naming a date or a changed drop chance for The Royal Tines.

Neither “Garren Rood” nor “Royal Tines” shows up by name in the public patch note titles or overviews. The Preludes 16 patch notes only mention Garren Rood for his unblockable attacks, not for the weapon.

• What the community wiki says: per Avakot's update history The Royal Tines drops from the Vadagar Stag. Preludes 14.5 “Ode'n Tempers” (May 12, 2026) slightly lowered that drop chance. Since Preludes 15 “Gods and Ghosts” (June 10, 2026) the weapon comes fully forged with a random Craftwork tier from activities across Midrath. The Fable itself only gives a fragment.
• Replaying: per the wiki the Fable “The Torment Stag” can be replayed from the Journal. Whether it hands out another weapon fragment, the wiki does not say.
• Still open: we found no official patch entry for the Vadagar Stag drop. The details above come from the community wiki, not from patch notes.

✨ Quick tips for the run

• Expect two fights back to back: Lady Deora first, then the Torment Stag.
• Finish the statue puzzle completely, or the boss room won't open.
• After the win you get the Pact fragment, armor fragments and one fragment of The Royal Tines. The finished weapon is easier to get from the Vadagar Stag, the mini-quest A Birdie Flown or the Wares of Zenith.
• For the matching armor (Regalia of Garren Rood), build up to Bond rank 3 with Tuvalkane and collect materials.
• Since Preludes 16, Lady Deora has more health in the Torment Stag according to the patch notes, and Garren Rood uses unblockable attacks. Plan to dodge those instead of blocking.
