Fallout 76 Spooky Scorched runs from October 20 to November 3, 2026, according to Bethesda's official community calendar. Costumed legendary Scorched then show up all over Appalachia and drop a Spooky Treat Bag, Mystery Candy and a legendary item.
Bethesda hasn't published a separate announcement with 2026 rewards yet. So this article is a preview: how the event worked in past years, what 2025 added and which questions are still open this year. Every claim is marked as official or community-sourced.
๐ When Fallout 76 Spooky Scorched 2026 Starts
The fall community calendar for Season 26, โBeware the Blood Moon,โ groups October under a Halloween theme. For Spooky Scorched it gives October 20 to November 3, 2026. The graphic doesn't show a time.
| Dates | Event per calendar | Relation |
|---|---|---|
| October 6 to 20 | Mischief Night | ends on the start day |
| October 2 to 26 | Slasher C.A.M.P. contest | runs in parallel |
| October 20 to November 3 | Spooky Scorched | the event itself |
| October 22 to 26 | double XP and legendary deals | overlaps |
For the start time there's a community hint. The event calendar on the fan site Nuka Knights lists the 2026 run from October 20 at 12:00 to November 3 at 12:00, without a time zone. Last year the same site had the event running noon to noon Eastern Time. If that holds in 2026, Spooky Scorched starts at noon ET on October 20. That's our inference, not a Bethesda commitment.
The second overlap matters more for players: the double XP weekend from October 22 to 26 falls entirely inside the event window. Hunt Scorched then and everything you kill on the side gives double experience.
๐ How the Halloween Event Works
There's no dedicated event area. In 2024 Bethesda described it like this: costumed legendary Scorched appear across Appalachia, announced by creepy music, and taking them out gets you their candy bag, mystery candy and legendary loot.
The mechanics come from the community. According to fallout.wiki, every Scorched that spawns in an exterior location has a 10% chance to spawn as a Spooky Scorched, events included. They're always legendary:
| Stars | Share per fallout.wiki |
|---|---|
| 1 star | 55% |
| 2 stars | 40% |
| 3 stars | 5% |
You'll spot them right away. They wear costumes like skeleton, vampire, mummy or pumpkin, and according to fallout.wiki they only fight with melee weapons. For you that means they run at you instead of shooting from cover.
๐ป Where to Find Them
Anywhere the regular Scorched roam. In its farming map, Nuka Knights recommends the military sites in the Cranberry Bog and the events in that region, among other spots. A comment under the same map notes that some marked spots no longer produce costumed enemies. Use the map as a starting point, not a guarantee.
๐ฌ What Fallout 76 Spooky Scorched Drop
Three drops are officially confirmed: the treat bag, Mystery Candy and a legendary item. On top of that you get normal Scorched loot. According to Nuka Knights, the Spooky Treat Bag and the candy can't be traded.
Per Nuka Knights, Mystery Candy gives one of five random effects for ten minutes: +1 Luck, Strength or Perception, more Agility at the cost of Intelligence, or a short blackout. So don't eat it in the middle of a boss fight.
๐ What's in the Spooky Treat Bag
Bethesda never published the contents as a table. Nuka Knights pulled them from the game files and splits them into groups, each with its own chance:
| Group | Chance per datamining | Chance per single item |
|---|---|---|
| good rewards | 50% | 0.85% |
| rare rewards | 30% | 2.143% |
| pumpkin rewards | 5% | 0.36% |
| player titles | 20% | not broken down |
Content-wise it's C.A.M.P. decoration plans, outfits and weapon paints. We only name the types here, not single plans. The one item Bethesda confirmed for 2024 is the jack-o'-lantern set showing Appalachia's scarier creatures, which came from the daily and weekly challenges.
๐ How Many Bags You Need for One Plan
The datamined values let you work out something other guides skip. 30% divided by 2.143% means about 14 rare plans. 5% against 0.36% also comes out at about 14 pumpkin plans.
| Goal | Bags on average | Scorched at a 10% spawn rate |
|---|---|---|
| one specific rare plan | about 47 | about 470 |
| one specific pumpkin plan | about 280 | about 2,800 |
That's our own model based on community values, not a Bethesda number. It mostly shows one thing: farming one specific pumpkin plan in two weeks is barely realistic. Trade with other players instead, if the plan is tradeable. The legendary items you pick up along the way go into the Legendary Exchange machine for scrip.
๐ฏ๏ธ Looking Back at 2025: The Night at the Morgue Mini Season
Last year Bethesda tied the event to a mini season starting October 21, 2025: Night at the Morgue, which ran until November 4. It had three building blocks:
- Morgue Candy Bowl: everyone got it for free, placed it in their C.A.M.P. and filled it with candy from costumed enemies.
- Tickets: you earned them for handing out candy, for killing Spooky Scorched, for collecting human skulls and, per Bethesda, for other Halloween fun while in costume.
- Rewards: tickets bought C.A.M.P. items like the Autopsy Table Bed and the Vault-Tec Body Bag, plus a Vault-Tec mortician costume.
Where exactly the human skulls came from, Bethesda didn't say. Whether the mini season returns in 2026 is open. The calendar only names the event for October, with no extras.
๐ช What's Known About Fallout 76 Spooky Scorched 2026
Officially: only the dates. As of this article, Bethesda hasn't announced rewards, a mini season or new plans for 2026. Everything else comes from Nuka Knights' datamining of The Slasher update and is not confirmed by Bethesda:
- So-called Pint-Sized Phantoms can appear among the costumed enemies.
- The Slasher season rewards are said to drop only from phantoms wearing a Slasher mask, not from regular Spooky Scorched. The source lists plans, apparel and, as very rare loot, legendary items.
How often those phantoms show up, the source doesn't say. The backstory of the Slasher series is in our Fallout 76 The Slasher guide. If you want the Rapidan Camp plans first, everything is in our Mischief Night guide.
๐ก How to Prepare
- Set up for close range. The enemies run straight at you. A build that's strong up close doesn't waste time aiming.
- Clear your inventory. Every kill drops a legendary item. After a few hundred kills you run out of room fast.
- Use the double XP weekend. Put your longest sessions on October 22 to 26.
- Wear a costume. In 2025 Bethesda named Halloween fun in costume as a ticket source. Whether that counts again in 2026 is open, but it can't hurt.
- Don't hoard bags. According to Nuka Knights they're not tradeable. Open them as soon as you have space.
