Fallout 76 Fasnacht Masks From Invaders from Beyond 2026: The Real Drop Chance

Fallout 76 Fasnacht Masks From Invaders from Beyond 2026: The Real Drop Chance

Yes, General Zeta can drop Fallout 76 Fasnacht masks in Invaders from Beyond, but only at about a 5% chance. The widely quoted 100% rate was a one-off, time-limited test on September 20 and 21, 2025, and it didn't come back in 2026. For the August 18 to September 1, 2026 event, Nuka Knights found no sign of renewed mask drops. The event is over, and no new dates have been announced. If you farm specifically for masks, you're farming against a 5% wall.

One sentence up front that carries this whole guide: all mask drop chances here are community data, gathered and documented by the fan site Nuka Knights. Bethesda never published an official percentage for Fasnacht masks in Invaders from Beyond. Anything officially confirmed is marked as such below.

๐ŸŽฏ What Went Around Wrongly During the 2026 Event

Since the event started, YouTube videos and short clips used titles along the lines of โ€œpossible Fasnacht Masks.โ€ That's not a leak or an announcement, it's a guess extrapolated from the 2025 test. The chain behind it is always the same: in September 2025 there really were masks in the alien event, a clip of it makes the rounds, and it turns into โ€œFasnacht masks drop in Invaders from Beyond,โ€ with no timestamp and no hint that the promotion was a limited exception.

The key difference: the 2025 promotion was announced on the official Fallout account on X, with a clear window from September 20 to 21 at noon ET, and explicitly for Glowing Fasnacht masks. That announcement was missing in 2026. For the August 2026 event there was no official Bethesda post promoting masks.

PeriodWhat appliedStatus
Permanent (base)about 5% chance at a rare Fasnacht mask from General Zetacommunity data (Nuka Knights), not officially confirmed
Sept 20 to 21, 2025, noon ETspecial promotion with a much higher rate, measured by the community as 100%promotion officially announced, the 100% figure is a community measurement
Aug 18 to Sept 1, 2026base chance, no special promotionno official post, no signs per the community database

The most interesting data point is in the Nuka Knights documentation: next to the 5% base there's an extra mask value that currently sits at 0. That value was apparently the lever for the 2025 test. As long as it stays at 0, the base chance is all there is, whatever a thumbnail says. That's also a community observation from datamining, not a Bethesda statement.

๐Ÿงฎ The Honest Math: How Many Runs Do You Really Need?

5% sounds like โ€œa few runs.โ€ It isn't. With a fixed chance per run, the expected value is 20 runs per mask, and that's no guarantee, just the average across a lot of players. The chance of still having nothing after 20 runs is about 36%. So one in three farmers walks away empty-handed from what they thought was a sure thing.

Here's the chance of at least one mask after X completed runs, at 5% per run:

Event runsChance of at least one maskPure event time
15.0%about 10 minutes
522.6%about 50 minutes
1040.1%about 1 hour 40
1451.2%about 2 hours 20
2064.2%about 3 hours 20
3078.5%about 5 hours
4590.1%about 7 hours 30
9099.0%about 15 hours

The two numbers to remember: 14 runs for a coin flip, 45 runs for 90%. And even 90 runs only give you 99%, never 100%.

โš ๏ธ What It Really Costs You

The โ€œpure event timeโ€ column above is the flattering version. Per the Fallout wiki, Invaders from Beyond starts at the top of the hour and lasts about ten minutes. On one server you get at most one run per hour. Aiming for 45 runs means sitting through 45 hour marks, and with two or three sessions a day that's half the event window.

The usual community workaround is server hopping. It cuts the wait a lot, but it's community practice, not an intended mechanic, so you can't plan reliably around it. The routine for it is in our Invaders from Beyond locations and timer guide.

๐Ÿ’ก When Farming Fallout 76 Fasnacht Masks Is Worth It, and When It Isn't

  • Worth it: if you run the event anyway. The guaranteed rewards justify the effort on their own, and the mask is a lottery ticket on top.
  • Worth it: if you don't have the alien plans, the Alien Blaster, the Disintegrator or the colored Hazmat Suits yet. They only come from here.
  • Not worth it: if you want one specific mask. On top of the 5% hurdle comes the spread within the mask pool, so your odds at exactly your favorite design are far below 5%.
  • Not worth it: if you measure playtime against return. For 20 hours of farming you get far more predictable loot elsewhere, see our Fallout 76 legendary farming guide.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ The Event in Short

Invaders from Beyond runs in three waves. Each wave you take out 30 enemies, then the wave boss, then the Brainwave Siphon. For masks only the third wave counts.

WaveBossRelevance for masks
1Lieutenant Kappanone
2Captain Alpha and Captain Omeganone
3General Zetathe only mask source in the event

The event rotates across six fixed spots in Appalachia and only starts on the hour. Which spot is in which region and how server hopping works is all in our Invaders from Beyond locations guide. What General Zeta drops besides masks and why a 4-star Bigfoot can show up after the event is in our General Zeta and Bigfoot guide.

Per the Fallout wiki, the guaranteed rewards are 500 XP, 100 caps, a 1-star legendary, two Treasury Notes, three units of legendary currency and, on your first completion, the Alien Souvenir Beer Stein plan.

Which legendary currency that is, is disputed: fallout.wiki lists โ€œ3 Legendary Cores,โ€ fallout.fandom.com โ€œ3 Legendary Modules.โ€ Per fallout.wiki itself, Legendary Cores were removed from the game and converted 1:1 into Legendary Scrip. So the cores entry is outdated. The modules entry is plausible but not officially confirmed. Check the reward screen yourself on your first run.

โ“ FAQ: Fallout 76 Fasnacht Masks

Do Fasnacht masks really not drop in Invaders from Beyond in 2026?

They do, but only at the base chance of about 5% from General Zeta. What was missing in 2026 was the special promotion with a higher rate. The number is community data.

Will the 100% promotion come back?

Nothing has been announced. The test ran on September 20 and 21, 2025, with a clear end date. The community reads it as a trial for changes to the Fasnacht event, not a recurring bonus.

How many runs do I need on average for one mask?

20 runs as the expected value. 14 runs give you a 50% chance, 90% takes 45.

Can I raise the chance somehow?

No perk, buff or team effect is known to raise the rate for Fasnacht masks in this event. Anyone who claims otherwise has no evidence for it.

How long did the event run in 2026?

14 days, from August 18 to September 1, 2026, each at noon ET. During that time a run started every hour on the hour. According to Nuka Knights, no new dates have been announced.

Is the event worth it without masks?

Yes. The guaranteed rewards and the alien plans, weapons and Hazmat Suits only come from here, and at about ten minutes the event is short.

Where does the 5% figure come from?

From the Nuka Knights community database, based on datamining and player observations. Bethesda hasn't published a drop chance.

Event data, structure and rewards in this guide were checked against the Fallout wiki (fallout.wiki), fallout.fandom.com and the Nuka Knights event database, and the patch and announcement status against the official Fallout 76 news on fallout.bethesda.net as of August 2026. The event end and the lack of new dates were added in October 2026 based on the Nuka Knights event page. All Fasnacht mask drop chances are community data and not officially confirmed by Bethesda.
