Dune Awakening Update news

Dune Awakening Editions Compared: Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate

Dune Awakening Editions Compared: Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate

Short answer: There are three Dune Awakening editions: Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate. Only Deluxe and Ultimate unlocked console Early Access from September 17, 2026. Since September 22, 2026, all three have been playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

If you play through Xbox Game Pass, you've been in since September 22. Early Access was tied to buying one of the two bigger editions, not to the subscription. According to Funcom, Game Pass members get 20% off an upgrade to Deluxe or Ultimate. That split decides whether you need to spend money at all.

๐Ÿ“ฆ The three Dune Awakening editions at a glance

Funcom sells Dune Awakening on console in the same three versions as on PC. The contents below come from the official PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings and the edition overview in Funcom's help center.

EditionIncludesConsole start
StandardBase game plus pre-order bonusesSept 22, 2026
DeluxeBase game, Season Pass with four DLCs, Sardaukar Bator armorSept 17, 2026
UltimateEverything in Deluxe plus the "Dusk Rider" sandbike swatch, the "Blue Dasher" ornithopter swatch, the Caladan Palace building set from the 2021 film, Paul Atreides' stillsuit from the film, a 50-page digital artbook and 90 minutes of soundtrackSept 17, 2026

The pre-order bonuses are the same in all three editions: the Muad'Dib Terrarium, a decoration for your base, and the global "Sunset Dye" swatch for weapons, vehicles and armor. The physical PS5 version, distributed by Bandai Namco in Europe, is a Standard edition with exactly these two bonuses, so no Early Access. According to Funcom, it's available in North and South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with a Japanese release on October 29, 2026.

๐Ÿ’ก The Season Pass: these four DLCs are included

This is where most overviews stop. In the store listings, Season Pass means: Wildlife of Arrakis, The Lost Harvest, Raiders of the Broken Lands and The Water Wars. Four expansions listed by name, included in Deluxe and Ultimate.

Funcom describes the first one as building pieces inspired by the wildlife of Arrakis, Shai-Hulud included.

According to Funcom's official console launch infographic from September 22, the Season Pass is now complete, with all four DLCs already out. Together they add more than 140 building pieces, 40 decorations, a new vehicle, new armor and a standalone story line (Journey). If you buy Deluxe, you're not paying for a promise anymore, but for finished content.

On Steam, the Season Pass and the individual DLCs are also sold separately. Bought one by one, The Water Wars, Raiders of the Broken Lands and The Lost Harvest add up to more than the Season Pass on its own.

๐Ÿ›’ Filmic Archive: the DLC that isn't in the Season Pass

Since September 22, the "Filmic Archive" DLC has been available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox. Funcom lists it at $9.99. It includes the "Aegis of an Unwalked Path" armor, the Caladan Stormcoat worn by Paul and Duke Leto, and a 73-piece Sardaukar building set, among other things. The full list is in our Filmic Archive guide.

Important for your buying decision: Filmic Archive doesn't appear in any Season Pass list. The four DLCs above are listed by name; this one is sold separately at its own price. Whether it ever moves into the Season Pass is not confirmed. Assume it costs extra.

๐Ÿ“Š Prices: what's documented and what isn't

The US store listings show $49.99 for Standard, $69.99 for Deluxe and $89.99 for Ultimate. The plus sign after the prices in the Microsoft Store only means the game offers in-app purchases, according to the store note. Prices in other regions follow the local store.

Steam ran a launch sale around the console release, with the discount on Deluxe and Ultimate coming from the reduced base game inside the bundle. Steam showed October 1 as the end date, while Funcom's September 22 post said October 8. Both dates have passed by now, so check the current price in the store. On launch day, the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store had no discount.

๐ŸŽฎ Game Pass vs. buying: the math for Xbox players

Dune Awakening has been on Xbox Game Pass since September 22. Before you skip buying it because of that, three points make the difference:

  • No Early Access through the subscription. The five-day head start from September 17 was tied to the Deluxe or Ultimate edition only.
  • No Season Pass through the subscription. The four DLCs belong to the paid editions, not to Game Pass. As a member, you get 20% off the upgrade, according to Funcom.
  • Not every tier is enough. According to the Xbox store listing, the game is included with Game Pass Premium, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass (PC only), and cloud play is covered by Premium and Ultimate. With Game Pass Essential only, you have to buy the game to stream it from the cloud.

One detail surprises many console buyers: the Microsoft Store listing states that online multiplayer on console requires a Game Pass membership that includes online play. On PlayStation 5, the store description says the same thing: PS Plus is required for online play, with up to 60 players per server. Single player mode is exempt. How it works is explained in our single player guide.

โš’๏ธ What Update 1.5 brings

Update 1.5 has been live on all platforms since September 17, 2026, PC included. It launched as version 1.5.3.0; the latest live hotfix is 1.5.3.7 from October 9, 2026. The next patch, 1.5.15.0, has been on the Public Test Client since September 30 and isn't live yet.

In short, 1.5 brings single player mode with three difficulty presets, a character-centric main menu with character switching and server transfers, a parry window for swords, daggers and dual blades raised from 0.25 to 0.33 seconds with 10 stamina back on a successful parry, and reworked difficulty scaling where the old difficulty 20 scaling now only kicks in at 30. All the details are in our Update 1.5 article.

๐Ÿ”— What existing PC players get

If you already own the game on PC, you don't need to buy anything. Update 1.5 has been live on PC since September 17, 2026, and brings the final act of the Book One story. Filmic Archive is available on PC too.

A character transfer between PC and console, on the other hand, isn't promised anywhere. Shared progress only exists inside the Microsoft ecosystem through Xbox Play Anywhere, between the Xbox console and the Microsoft Store version. The Steam version isn't part of that. If you switch to console, you start over.

โš ๏ธ Crossplay: confirmed, but no date

In its gamescom announcement from August 26, 2026, Funcom explicitly confirmed crossplay for Dune Awakening, but only after the console launch and without a date. The September 22 launch post only says crossplay will be added post-launch, and Communinet Signal #21 on October 1 adds that it's being worked on, still with no date.

For your buying decision: right now you can't count on playing with friends on another platform. If your group mixes PC and console, the safest route is for everyone to agree on one platform. The full picture is in our Dune Awakening crossplay guide.

๐ŸŽฏ Which Dune Awakening edition makes sense for whom

  • Standard: for anyone who wants to try the game. On Xbox, unnecessary if you already have a fitting Game Pass tier.
  • Deluxe: the extra cost buys you the complete Season Pass with four DLCs that are already out. Worth it if you know you'll stick around.
  • Ultimate: beyond Deluxe, purely cosmetic plus artbook and soundtrack. For collectors.

Early Access ended with the regular launch on September 22; no edition gives you a head start anymore. For getting started on a console server, read the base building guide.
