Conan Exiles Patch 2.2.0: Unreal Engine 5.8, Iris and Every Fix (2026)

Conan Exiles Patch 2.2.0 went live for Conan Exiles Enhanced on PC on September 15, 2026 and moves the game to Unreal Engine 5.8.2. It also brings the Iris replication system for dedicated servers, an extra "Enhanced" graphics preset and a long list of bug fixes.

Two days later, Funcom followed up with a hotfix: server crashes fixed, the password bug on joining removed, and five armor sets from the in-game shop given actual stats. This guide sums up what changed, which problems players report and what you can do yourself.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Conan Exiles Patch 2.2.0 at a glance

Version 2.2.0 is first and foremost a tech update. It doesn't add new areas, bosses or recipes. If you log in for new content, you'll mainly find new shop bundles and a few quality-of-life features for base building.

โš™๏ธ Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and Iris: what changes under the hood

With Patch 2.2.0, Conan Exiles runs on engine version 5.8.2, the current one at the time. Players won't notice that directly. For server owners, the second change matters more: Funcom switches on Iris with 2.2.0.

Iris is an Unreal Engine replication system. It decides which game objects a server has to check every frame and send to the clients. According to Funcom, this should lower the load on dedicated servers, because not every one of the many objects gets evaluated individually each round. On big servers with lots of bases and thralls, that's exactly the bottleneck.

Funcom gives no concrete numbers for tick rate or player count. Whether a server feels noticeably smoother day to day can only be judged in game. There are no measurements from Funcom.

๐Ÿ”ง Server bugs fixed by Patch 2.2.0

  • An exploit that let players spawn unlimited objects on dedicated servers is closed.
  • Boulders from the Wall of Fire spell caused heavy network corrections, meaning stutter and position jumps.
  • A crash during building decay is fixed.
  • Friends could join co-op sessions without a password.
  • A stuck loading screen is fixed.

The decay crash mainly affects servers where abandoned bases get cleaned up.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ The new graphics options

The most visible change for PC players is the extra "Enhanced" quality preset. Funcom aims it at high-end systems and recommends 12 GB of VRAM for it. If your card has 8 GB, stay one step below.

There's also a new "Advanced Graphics" button in the settings. Behind it you'll find:

  • HDR, enabled automatically based on your monitor and OS settings
  • RGB color modulation
  • chromatic aberration and vignette
  • tone mapping
  • film grain and a black-and-white mode

Ray tracing is missing from the final build. Funcom says it was available in the 2.2.0 public beta and was removed again because of visual bugs. If you used ray tracing in the beta, the option is gone in 2.2.0.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: crash on load with DLSS frame generation

Under "Known Issues", Funcom lists a crash on load when DLSS frame generation is active. The official workaround is simple: turn frame gen off until a fix arrives. That's your first step if the game has been crashing on load since the update.

Also listed as a known issue: a crash when you press the End key in certain text fields. More causes and fixes are collected in our guide on Conan Exiles crashing. On the forums, Funcom also points out that outdated graphics drivers can cause crashes with 2.2.0, so don't click away the driver warning at launch anymore.

๐Ÿช‘ Thralls, thrones and bathtubs

For base builders, the update brings a small but often requested change: thralls can now sit on four throne models. The patch notes call them Lion Throne, Jhebbal Throne, Serpentmen Throne and Ice Throne.

Bathtubs are now usable too, for players and for thralls. One player reported in the official discussion thread on release day that it didn't work for them. That's a single community report, not a confirmed bug.

More changes around characters and the world:

  • The health of Khitan slaver thralls is corrected.
  • The Headhunter faction leader's dialogue works again, and the leaderboard sign stays in place.
  • The Dragonmouth teleport destination has been moved.
  • Camps in three regions (Highlands, Ashlands and The Breach) load in from farther away.

If you don't know the Headhunting event yet, our Headhunting guide covers factions and rewards. Which thralls are worth it as fighters is in our list of the best thralls.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ September 17 hotfix: new stats for shop armor

The hotfix two days after the update fixes several server crashes and the password bug. More interesting for gameplay: five armor sets from the Bazaar in-game shop got armor stats. Names are taken from the patch notes.

Set (patch notes)WeightStats per the hotfix
Vendhyan Mysticlight1 heat and 1 cold resistance, 3 Agility weapon damage
Vendhyan Courtley Exilemedium2 heat and 2 cold resistance, 5 bonus follower damage
Vendhyan Caravan Traderheavy3 heat and 3 cold resistance, 3 Strength weapon damage
Giant-king Scoutmedium2 heat and 2 cold resistance, 2 follower damage, 2 Agility weapon damage
Giant-king Sentinelheavy3 heat and 3 cold resistance, 2 follower damage, 2 Strength weapon damage

With 5 points of follower damage, the medium Vendhyan set is mainly interesting if your playstyle leans on thralls. How Authority and follower damage work together is explained in our Authority build.

๐Ÿ”‘ The password bug: cause and fix

Right after Patch 2.2.0, players reported that official servers suddenly asked for a password even though none exists. Funcom staff member Dana named the cause in the discussion thread: the bug shows up if you've set a password for your own single-player game.

The fix before the hotfix: remove the password in the single-player menu and confirm the change before leaving the menu. According to Funcom, the September 17 hotfix fixes the bug. If it still happens, the same step helps.

๐Ÿงฉ Mods after Conan Exiles Patch 2.2.0

As after every big engine step, all Workshop mods stopped working after the update. The game says the mod is too old and has to be updated for the current game version. Funcom announced this beforehand, but frustration on the forums was still high.

Until a mod is rebuilt, all you can do is wait or disable the mod.

Patch 2.2.0 also brings improvements for modders: faster game starts with large mods, faster mod validation and fixes for crashes caused by custom animations. The hotfix also makes sure mods can correctly override base game files again. How to find and remove broken mods is in Conan Exiles mods not working.

๐Ÿž More fixes and known issues

Beyond the big items, Patch 2.2.0 cleans up a lot in the world: floating plants, resource nodes and props on both maps, collision bugs in several dungeons, holes in the geometry of the Cyclopean Halls and floating lava in the Well of Skelos. On top of that come shadow and fog issues from the Lumen lighting.

As an open issue for 2.2.0, Funcom listed that the metal parts of the Giant-king Sentinel set can't be recolored in the preview at the workbench. One player in the discussion thread also reported streaky shadows on all graphics presets. That's a community report Funcom took in for review.

What came before is covered in our overview of Conan Exiles Patch 2.1.0. After 2.2.0, more hotfixes followed up to 2.2.3 (October 1, 2026), then Patch 3.0.0 with Legacy of the Giant-Kings Part 2 (October 6, 2026) and Hotfix 3.0.1 (October 8, 2026).
