Conan Exiles Enhanced Console Status: No UE5 Update for PS5 and Xbox

Conan Exiles Enhanced Console Status: No UE5 Update for PS5 and Xbox

Conan Exiles Enhanced launched on May 5, 2026, and it is the biggest update in the game's eight-year history: Unreal Engine 5, merged maps, a new UI and a huge jump in visuals, free for everyone who owns the game on Steam. The catch: console players got none of it. This article explains what happened, what Funcom has said about a Conan Exiles Enhanced console release, and what it means for you on PS5 or Xbox.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ What is Conan Exiles Enhanced?

Enhanced is not a regular patch. Funcom moved the whole game from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, working together with Inflexion Games. What changed:

  • New engine features: Lumen global illumination (dynamic real-time lighting), Nanite geometry for more detailed environments, and virtual shadow maps
  • Merged worlds: the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah are now one connected world, so you can travel between both maps with the same character instead of starting over
  • DLSS 4.5, FSR 3 and XeSS on PC, including frame generation
  • Multiple single-player characters per account
  • A much smaller install than the UE4 version (105 GB down to 61 GB according to Funcom's patch notes)
  • A reworked UI and a long list of quality-of-life changes
  • Mod support from day one

It worked, at least on Steam. Conan Exiles hit almost 27,000 concurrent players after launch, nearly three times the April numbers. The last time the game saw that many players was the Age of Sorcery launch in September 2022.

๐ŸŽฎ Conan Exiles Enhanced console status: what Funcom says

This is the core of the problem. Xbox, PlayStation, the Epic Games Store and the Windows PC Store version were all left out of the Enhanced launch. Funcom posted an official statement on its forum. Community Manager Dana wrote:

"Migrating Conan Exiles from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 is the biggest technical undertaking in the game's eight-year history. Starting on Steam PC isn't a choice we made lightly, and we know it's frustrating for console players who may have been with us for many of those years. The honest reason is capacity: a simultaneous multi-platform launch at this scale would stretch the team too thin and risk a poor experience for everyone โ€“ and that's not something we're willing to risk for any of our players."

And further: "A console release hasn't been ruled out โ€“ but before we commit to a path, we need to see how the upgrade lands and stabilize the experience on PC first."

In plain terms: Funcom wants Enhanced on consoles at some point, but there is no schedule and no promise. In Community Update #7 on September 18, 2026, Funcom asked console players to "wait a little longer" and said more would be revealed in October. As of October 11, 2026, we have not found a console release date in any Funcom announcement or patch note.

โš ๏ธ What it means for PS5 and Xbox players

Funcom confirmed that the UE4 version stays online. Console players still get:

  • โœ… Official servers that keep running
  • โœ… Critical bug fixes
  • โœ… Access to the Bazaar (cosmetic shop)

What console players do not get:

  • โŒ UE5 graphics and performance upgrades
  • โŒ The merged world (Exiled Lands plus Isle of Siptah)
  • โŒ New content updates, because the legacy UE4 version gets no major additions anymore
  • โŒ The new UI and the quality-of-life changes

The last point is the one that hurts. New content is only made for Enhanced. Five months in, that is no longer a prediction. Legacy of the Giant-Kings Part 1 (patch 2.0.0, July 21, 2026, with the Cyclopean Halls dungeon) and Part 2 (patch 3.0.0, October 6, 2026, followed by hotfix 3.0.1 on October 8) both shipped for Enhanced on PC only. On console you are playing a frozen version of the game.

๐Ÿงฉ Why did Funcom do it this way?

Moving from UE4 to UE5 is a massive technical job. Funcom had two options: launch on every platform at once and risk a half-baked version everywhere, or stabilize on Steam first and decide later. They picked the second one.

The player numbers backed them up at launch. Almost 27,000 concurrent Steam players on day one show the update landed. Whether that makes console players feel any better is a different question.

๐Ÿ•น๏ธ What can PS5 and Xbox players do now?

You have three options:

Option 1: Wait. Funcom has not ruled out Enhanced on consoles. If the PC version stays stable and the player count holds, a console port becomes more likely. There is still no timeline.

Option 2: Switch to PC. If you buy Conan Exiles on Steam, you get Enhanced right away, and it costs nothing extra. Character transfers between console and PC are not possible, though, so you start fresh.

Option 3: Keep playing legacy. The UE4 version on console still runs and the servers are up. If you want to keep your base and your progress, just keep playing. You will miss every new content update.

If you do move to PC, our Conan Exiles attributes guide covers the Enhanced perk changes you will notice first, and the crash fix guide helps if the UE5 version gives you trouble.

๐Ÿ’ฌ How did the community react?

Reactions on ResetEra and on the Funcom forum were mixed. A lot of console players are frustrated, which is understandable after years of playing. Some think Funcom's explanation makes sense but want a concrete timeline. The most common take: the statement is "HOPE" and "ONE DAY", not a real commitment.

One thing in Funcom's favor: they said anything at all. The studio has stayed silent on uncomfortable topics in the past.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions about the Conan Exiles Enhanced Console Version

Is Conan Exiles Enhanced coming to PS5 and Xbox?

Not so far. Enhanced only launched on Steam PC. Funcom says a console release has not been ruled out, but there is no schedule and no commitment. In September 2026 Funcom said more would be revealed in October. As of October 11, 2026, no console date has been announced.

Does the old version still work on console?

Yes. The UE4 legacy version keeps its official servers, critical bug fixes and Bazaar access. It does not get major new content anymore.

Can I transfer my console character to PC?

No. Character transfers between console and PC are not possible.

Why did Enhanced launch on Steam only?

Funcom says it is about capacity. A simultaneous multi-platform launch would stretch the team too thin, so the PC version comes first and gets stabilized.

Are the Giant-Kings updates on console?

No. Both parts of Legacy of the Giant-Kings released so far (patch 2.0.0 in July and patch 3.0.0 in October 2026) are Enhanced updates and only exist on PC.

๐Ÿ“Œ Bottom line

On PC, Conan Exiles Enhanced is an unusually generous free update. On console it is a hard cut, with no timeline and no guarantees. If you want Enhanced today, you need Steam. If and when consoles catch up depends on how stable the PC version stays and whether Funcom builds up the capacity for a port. Five months and two content patches later, the gap has only grown.
