Conan Exiles Giant-Kings Part 2 has been live since October 6, 2026. With Patch 3.0.0, Rifts open up in enemy camps across the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah and pull you into arenas outside reality. You pick a challenge there, bring back new materials and use them to unlock four new spells. The Mi-Go return as well, including a Mi-Go mini boss.
This guide keeps three things apart: what Funcom announced, what's in the patch notes, and what's still unknown. Spell names, material names and arena details aren't in the patch notes or the blog.

A quick recap if you're joining mid-arc: Part 1 added the dungeon beneath the Unnamed City, the NPC Akhamet and the boss The Anvil Keeper. Our Cyclopean Halls guide covers all of it. Back in August, our Patch 2.1.0 overview still noted that Part 2 had no date. Funcom only announced the date in a blog post on September 10.
๐ Giant-Kings Part 2: how the Rifts work
Funcom describes the loop in three steps. Rifts appear in enemy camps that already exist, not at new spots on the map. You step through, land in a hostile arena, pick a challenge and defeat whatever is waiting for you. You come back with new materials and rewards. Funcom's rule of thumb: the greater the danger, the greater the prize.
Story-wise, the Rifts are a consequence of what happened with Akhamet and the Cyclopean Halls. In early August, players had already spotted a swirling rift in the sky that no patch notes mentioned (reported by Massively Overpowered). Looking back, that fits Part 2.
What Funcom hasn't revealed about the Rifts
Still open:
- how many Rifts are active at once and in which camps exactly,
- whether they spawn on a timer or stay open permanently,
- which challenges you can choose from and what the materials are called,
- whether server admins get dedicated settings for the Rifts.
A tester in the beta thread on the Funcom forums guessed that the Rifts don't stay open permanently because they would disrupt normal play. That's a player's take, not a Funcom statement. In the same discussion, another poster wrote that the new content was left out of the patch notes on purpose to avoid spoilers.
Tip for sensitive eyes: turn off the Rift effects
Hotfix 3.0.1 added a console variable that suppresses the light and sound effects of Rift events locally. Funcom explicitly added it for players who are sensitive to audiovisual effects:
dw.RiftEvent.DisableAVFX
The setting only applies on your own PC. Other players on the server still see the effects.
๐ฎ Four new spells in Conan Exiles Giant-Kings Part 2
You unlock the four spells with materials from the Rift encounters. In the blog, Funcom only describes them by function, not by name. Your spellbook also gets an upgrade. The 3.0.0 known issues mention that, in rare cases, your character stops responding to input after upgrading the Tome of Kurak. So the upgrade applies to the familiar spellbook you get through the Sorcery unlock.
| Spell according to Funcom | Purpose | Known name |
|---|---|---|
| Defensive ward | Protects yourself | not published |
| Void control | Hinders enemies on the battlefield | not published |
| Corrupting magic | Spreads corruption among enemies in range | probably Corrupting Miasma (see below) |
| Prepared spell | Prepare magic so you can cast it fast at the decisive moment | not published |
The only new spell name that has shown up officially so far is in the fix list of Hotfix 3.0.1: Corrupting Miasma could dispel Mirror Images. Creeping Darkness, which appears in the 3.0.0 known issues, has been in the game since Age of Sorcery.
That Corrupting Miasma is the corruption spell from the announcement seems likely, but Funcom hasn't tied the two together explicitly. The same hotfix also fixed spell preparation not resetting if you cancelled it before choosing a spell.
Sorcery still costs you corruption. How to get rid of it again is in our guide on how to remove corruption.
๐พ The Mi-Go are back
According to Funcom, the Mi-Go return to the world through the Rifts. There's a Mi-Go mini boss, and defeating the Mi-Go earns you themed rewards. Funcom also writes that you may be able to bring a Mi-Go thrall or a Mi-Go pet home to your settlement. The "may" is in the announcement itself. No drop chance has been published.
Two entries in the patch notes concern the Mi-Go directly:
- Fixed in 3.0.0: MiGo Experiment enemies used the wrong movement animations on dedicated servers, switched textures and lost their head and arm on death.
- Known issue: Mi-Go thralls follow you from a very long distance. If you get one, station it rather than taking it along for now.
How to capture and use thralls in general is covered in our thralls guide.
โ๏ธ What else Patch 3.0.0 changes
Besides Conan Exiles Giant-Kings Part 2, the patch brings a batch of everyday improvements. These have the biggest impact:
| Change | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Legendary items can be dismantled at the Dismantling Bench | Yields Legendary Fragments, which you need for repairs |
| Warpaints no longer expire | Once applied, the effect stays |
| Inventory filters for heavy, medium and light armor plus clothing | Faster sorting, with a tooltip on hover |
| Woodcutter boxes accept resin | Less shuffling items around your base |
| The "Wooden Box: Mining" recipe costs 10 wood instead of 100 | Mining box is buildable right away early on |
| Torches can be placed closer to ceilings | Only applies to newly placed torches |
| Stricter server-side movement checks | Speed hacks become less effective |
Dismantling legendaries pairs well with the repair system from Patch 2.0.0. What's known about the fragment cost of a repair (Funcom hasn't published official numbers) is in our legendary repair guide. The technical groundwork for 3.0.0 came with Patch 2.2.0 and its move to Unreal Engine 5.8.
A small trap when searching for the patch notes
The official forum thread is now titled "Conan Exiles Enhanced - October Patch 3.0.0". The link in Funcom's October 6 blog post, however, still says "september-patch-3-0-0" in the address. If you come from an old bookmark or search for "September Patch", you still end up in the same thread on the Funcom forums.
โ ๏ธ Known issues and Hotfix 3.0.1 in Conan Exiles
Hotfix 3.0.1 arrived two days after release. Besides the Rift variable, it fixes a crash in the player list on official servers, a crash on Steam Deck, thrall armor bonuses not applying, and clipping and collision bugs on Shemite building pieces. Thralls left behind in a Rift are now also teleported out when the Rift closes.
These entries are on the known issues list for 3.0.0, and Hotfix 3.0.1 doesn't mention a fix for them:
- The server option "Everybody Can Loot Corpse" is always on, whatever it's set to.
- Followers disappear when teleporting or when entering and leaving dungeons.
- Decaying buildings reset the decay timer of placed objects.
- Golems in guard mode take no damage on PvP servers without building damage.
- Freya can be killed during her quest.
The vanishing followers are the most important point for Part 2. Hotfix 3.0.1 only makes sure that thralls left inside a Rift get teleported out when it closes. Funcom doesn't say whether the general teleport bug also triggers when you enter a Rift. So don't take valuable thralls along without testing first.
๐ฎ Giant-Kings Part 2 on PC and console
Part 2 was released for Conan Exiles Enhanced, the Unreal Engine 5 version, which is still PC only. Consoles are left out for now. The background is in our article on Enhanced on consoles.
The story content ships with the regular Patch 3.0.0 and is free. Funcom announced the four-part arc as a free update. The Shemite building set, on the other hand, is Bazaar content. For the Rifts on the Isle of Siptah, you still need access to Siptah as before.
