If you want to farm Warframe Carbides for Sirius and Orion plus both signature scythes, you need exactly 1,200. Your best sources are Railjack missions and Eximus enemies in the Grineer Shipyard tileset, not Uranus Proxima.
Since Update 43: Jade Shadows: Constellations on June 17, 2026, the resource is back in demand, because Sirius and Orion and their scythes eat a lot of it. This guide covers what Carbides are, how many you need and where to farm them.
โ๏ธ What are Warframe Carbides?
The in-game description calls Carbides resilient components used to reinforce the plated sheets of metal strapped to Grineer ships. Per the community-run wiki at wiki.warframe.com, they arrived with Update 26.1 on November 22, 2019 and are mainly used to build and upgrade your Railjack.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Resource, untradeable |
| Amount per pickup | 15 to 25 |
| Introduced | Update 26.1 (November 22, 2019) |
| Helminth secretion | Oxides (2,500) |
Carbides can't be traded or sold. You have to farm every single one yourself.
๐ฉธ What you need Carbides for
The amounts for Update 43 content, per the community wiki:
| Item | Carbides |
|---|---|
| Sirius and Orion Chassis | 600 |
| Pride Handle | 300 |
| Wrath Handle | 300 |
On top of that come older uses, such as Railjack components and turrets at 150 to 2,000 Carbides depending on Mk tier, or the Protea Chassis at 2,750. So Sirius and Orion aren't the biggest single cost in the game, but for many players they're the reason to care about Carbides again right now.
๐ฆ How many Warframe Carbides to plan for
If you want to build Sirius and Orion and also finish both scythes, you need:
- Chassis: 600
- Pride Handle: 300
- Wrath Handle: 300
- Total: 1,200 Carbides
At 15 to 25 per pickup, that works out to 48 to 80 pickups. Per the wiki, the Empyrean completion bonus has a 28.57 percent chance to give 200 Carbides, so about 57 per mission on average. How long it takes overall depends heavily on your route. There's no reliable hour count for it.
๐ซ Uranus Proxima won't give you Carbides
Uranus Proxima, with The Kuva Wytch and Scoria's Angel, is where the Sirius and Orion blueprints drop. Carbides don't appear in its reward tables, though. Plan your Carbides farm separately before you build. How the region works is covered in our Uranus Proxima farming guide.
โ๏ธ The best farming spots
Per the community wiki, there are two main sources:
| Location | What you get |
|---|---|
| Railjack missions in Earth, Saturn and Veil Proxima | Loot in the Empyrean, much more common there than in the Shipyard tileset per the wiki. Grineer units in space drop 1 Carbide at up to about 30 percent, depending on type. |
| Empyrean completion bonus, for example Sover Strait | 28.57 percent chance for 200 Carbides per mission completion. |
| Eximus enemies in the Grineer Shipyard tileset | Mainly on Ceres and Sedna, on Sedna for example Berehynia and Marid. |
If you already fly Railjack, that's your best bet. If you'd rather play on foot, pick an endless mission on Ceres or Sedna with plenty of Grineer Eximus. Railjack basics in the new region are in our Warframe Uranus Proxima guide.
๐ฐ๏ธ Earth Proxima as a starting point
For Railjack newcomers, Earth Proxima is the obvious place to start. Per the community wiki, the resource drops there from Grineer enemies, storage containers and destroyed ships. Enemies are weaker than in Saturn or Veil Proxima, and Sover Strait is one of the nodes with the completion bonus. If you're still building your Railjack, you collect material for the ship and for Sirius and Orion at the same time.
๐ Keep other uses in mind
Before you stop after building Sirius and Orion, check the other blueprints in your Foundry. Per the community wiki, these also need Warframe Carbides:
- Protea Chassis: 2,750
- Basmu: 800
- Ambassador Receiver: 200
- 100 Ciphers: 3,500
- Railjack components and turrets: 150 to 2,000 depending on Mk tier
If you still have one of those planned, farm for it now while you're in Railjack anyway.
๐ก Farming tips
- Railjack beats ground missions: Per the wiki, Carbides are much more common in the Empyrean than in the Shipyard tileset.
- Use boosters on purpose: A Resource Booster or Resource Drop Chance Booster pays off mostly when farming on foot, where you pick up lots of individual drops.
- Don't leave pickups behind: A companion that collects loot helps when you miss drops in the middle of a fight.
- Stack goals: Combine the farm with Railjack Intrinsics or Standing instead of running missions for Carbides alone.
