This StarRupture beginner guide gets you through your first hours on Arcadia-7. StarRupture is a survival base-builder from Creepy Jar, the studio behind Green Hell, and has been in Early Access on Steam since January 6, 2026. If you like Satisfactory-style automation mixed with harsh survival, you'll feel at home here. You just have to survive the hostile planet first. Below: your first resources, power, automation, the right base spot and, above all, the infamous Ruptures.
๐ What Is StarRupture?
StarRupture is a first-person survival base-builder set on the hostile planet Arcadia-7, with extreme temperatures, aggressive alien creatures and recurring disasters. Your goal: mine resources, build up an automated industry, research tech and defend your base. You can play solo or in co-op with up to four players. According to the Steam page, Creepy Jar plans to leave Early Access in 2027. This StarRupture beginner guide focuses on the first, decisive hours.
๐งญ Your First Steps
You start at your lander, your first shelter and safe retreat. Your starting tool is the mining tool, which works both as a gatherer and as a basic melee weapon. Watch out: it overheats under constant use, so you have to take breaks.
Gather the two most important ores first:
| Resource | How to spot it | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Titanium Ore | Gray, rocky veins | Backbone of early crafting |
| Wolfram Ore | Copper-brown veins | Backbone of early crafting |
At the Basic Item Printer you turn one of each into Basic Building Material (10 per craft, according to the community wiki). That's the base material almost everything else is built from.
โก Power and Your First Automation
Your machines need power. The Solar Generator v1 gives you +10 power early on. Power is distributed through rails, and that's the game's clever twist: rails don't just move items between buildings, they carry power through your base at the same time. A rail network is logistics and power grid in one.
The basic production chain looks like this:
| Step | Building | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ore Excavator | Mines raw ore automatically |
| 2 | Rails | Move the ore onward |
| 3 | Smelter | Smelts ore into bars |
| 4 | Fabricator | Turns bars into rods, plates and wire |
Once this chain runs on its own, your base keeps producing while you explore. That's the core appeal of StarRupture. How to cross rails, build slopes and fix bottlenecks is covered in our StarRupture drone rails guide, and the power grid in detail in our StarRupture automation and power guide.
๐๏ธ Where to Build Your First Real Base
The lander is only the start. For your first permanent base, a short walk pays off: head east from the starting pod, past the crater and the sulfur deposits, until you reach a small lake. The area north of the lake gives you access to lots of basic and advanced resources, with hardly any enemies. A quiet, resource-rich starting spot.
Tip: put your buildings on slightly raised ground. You'll see the terrain better from there and spot early where you can expand later.
๐ Surviving Ruptures: The Core Mechanic
The event the game is named after is also its most dangerous mechanic. A Star Rupture is a solar event that sends a wave of fire across the surface. Here's how it plays out:
- Warning phase: a Rupture announces itself, and the alien Vermin (spider-like enemies) attack harder during this phase.
- Impact: get to safety inside your shelter in time. If you're outside when the fire wave hits, you die.
- Scorched earth: after the Rupture, caves open up with temporary Quartz deposits, a valuable reward for anyone who came prepared.
Treat it as a fixed rhythm: before the Rupture, secure supplies and defenses. During the Rupture, stay in cover. After it, clear the Quartz caves fast before they close again. More on that in our StarRupture Quartz farming guide.
๐ข Corporations and Commissions
Progress runs through six corporations, each with its own reward tree: Training Corporation, Future Health Solutions, Selenian Corporation, Griffith Blue Corporation, Moon Energy Corporation and Clever Robotics. You complete commissions by shipping resource packages into orbit with the Orbital Cargo Launcher and then claim the reward at a Corporate Terminal. That earns you points and raises the corporation's level.
Griffith Blue is the corporation behind your weapons and defenses: according to starrupture.th.gl, its reward tree unlocks the Equipment Upgrade Station at level 2, the Defense Turret at level 6 and the Defense Tower at level 9. Your first real ranged weapon against the Vermin is the UPP-7 pistol. Stats and the later guns are in our StarRupture weapons guide.
The most important automation tip: never leave your base without an active commission. That way your production keeps earning progress in the background while you explore.
๐ก More Beginner Tips
- Unlock the Map early: prioritize the Map from Moon Energy ahead of combat tech. It makes finding resource deposits much more efficient. In the current reward tree on the community wiki it sits at Moon Energy level 3.
- Character choice is about taste: Engineer, Scientist, Medic and Soldier play the same mechanically. Pick by role preference, not by stats.
- Go easy on the mining tool: it overheats, so switch to automatic excavators for continuous mining as early as you can.
โฑ๏ธ Your First Hour: Quick Start
Just landed on Arcadia-7? Work through this order:
- Mine your first Titanium Ore and Wolfram Ore near the lander with the mining tool (take breaks so it doesn't overheat).
- Make your first Basic Building Material at the Basic Item Printer.
- Walk east to the lake and mark out a base spot on raised ground north of it.
- Place a Solar Generator v1 and lay a short rail network for power and transport.
- Build your first automated chain: Ore Excavator โ Smelter โ Fabricator.
- Work toward the Map from Moon Energy and start your first commission.
- Watch for the first Rupture warning and get back to your shelter in time.
That kicks off the full core loop of mining, automation and survival. From there it's all about expanding: more power, stronger weapons against the Vermin and higher corporation levels.
โ FAQ: StarRupture for Beginners
Can you play StarRupture solo?
Yes. The game works fully solo or in online co-op with up to four players.
Is StarRupture finished?
No. It has been in Early Access since January 6, 2026, and content keeps being added. According to the Steam page, Creepy Jar plans to leave Early Access in 2027.
What is a Rupture?
A solar disaster event that sends a fire wave across the planet. You have to get to safety in your shelter. Afterwards, Quartz caves open up.
How many corporations are there?
Six, each with its own reward tree. You level them up by completing commissions through the Orbital Cargo Launcher.
โจ Where to Go From Here
StarRupture rewards planning more than reflexes. The three things that matter most in your first hours: an automated Excavator, Smelter and Fabricator chain that runs while you're away, a calm base spot north of the lake, and a fixed routine for every Rupture warning. Once that's in place, the next big step is better ores. Our StarRupture resources guide shows where to find them.
As of October 2026, Early Access after Update 2 (September 2, 2026) and Hotfix 0.3.5 (October 5, 2026). Checked against the official Steam page, Creepy Jar's patch notes, the game database starrupture.th.gl (corporation names and rewards) and the community wiki on wiki.gg. The base location north of the lake, the overheating of the mining tool and the identical character classes come from player guides. Corporation reward levels can shift with any patch.
