StarRupture Resources Guide: All Ores, Locations and Extractors

Nothing runs on Arcadia-7 without raw materials. This guide to StarRupture resources covers every important ore and material: how to recognize it, where to find it, which extractor you need and what it's good for, from the first gray Titanium veins to the glowing post-Rupture resources. If you're just starting out, our automation and power guide pairs well with this one.

๐Ÿชจ How Resource Progression Works

StarRupture tiers its raw materials. Early on you mine everything with the basic Ore Excavator. Later you need special extractors for gases and corrosive materials, and the strongest resources only show up in a limited window after a Rupture. You can spot many deposits by their color on the map. Keep this rough order in mind: metals first, then gases and chemistry, then the rare Rupture materials.

โ›๏ธ Early Resources (Ore Excavator)

You mine these three ores with the standard excavator. They're the foundation of your production. You'll find all of them mostly north and northeast of your lander.

ResourceHow to spot itUsed for
Titaniumgray, rocky veins (gray circles on the map), also in meteoritesTitanium bars, then rods and plates
Wolframcopper-brown veins with a small archway shapeWire, powder, plates; with Calcite, ceramics
Calciumlight, white formations with black dots, often near waterBlocks, Calcite plates, ceramics, ammo

๐Ÿ’ก Calcium is the last ore you can still mine with the regular excavator. After that you need special equipment.

๐ŸŒซ๏ธ Mid-Game Resources (Special Extractors)

From here on, the standard excavator isn't enough. These deposits are more dangerous and only open up at higher levels with Future Health Solutions. According to the community wiki, the Helium-3 Extractor unlocks at level 6 and the Sulfur Extractor at level 8. Selenian Corporation, which many guides credit with both, carries neither of them.

ResourceLocation and how to spot itExtractor and use
Helium-3purple geysers and vents, far to the north and eastHelium-3 Extractor, for glass, synthetic silicone, chemicals and compressed helium
Sulfurbright yellow on the map, surrounded by corrosive airSulfur Extractor, then sulfuric acid in the Pressurizer for chemistry recipes

โš ๏ธ Sulfur is tricky: the corrosive air around it damages you, and the extractor often can only be placed after a Rupture, once temperatures drop. Plan your mining around the Rupture cycle.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Post-Rupture Resources (Limited Window)

This is the heart of the game: some of the most valuable materials appear only right after a Rupture and then disappear again. If you're prepared, you clean up here.

  • Quartz: appears in caves that open after the Fire Wave. It can only be mined by hand with the Mining Tool, not automated. According to the official patch notes, Quartz has not been a building material since Update 1. The Recycler turns old Quartz building materials back into Quartz ore without loss. Details in the Quartz farming guide.
  • Ignitium: glowing red-orange rocks on scorched ground after the firestorm. Also mined by hand only, during the window. It's needed for Base Core upgrades and data point analysis, so for real progress.

๐Ÿ’ก Build a routine: as soon as the Rupture is over, head straight for the fresh caves and the scorched ground. The window is short.

๐Ÿ’Ž Late-Game Resources

Goethite is an endgame ore you mine with the Laser Drill. It feeds the advanced processing chains late in the game, so it becomes relevant once your base is up and running automated. How to get past the radiation in front of it is covered in the Goethite guide.

๐Ÿงฌ Enemy Drops and Exploration

Not everything is mined. Fighting and exploring also give you:

  • Meteorite Hearts, from mined meteorites.
  • Biological Samples, from defeated enemies.
  • Biofacts, from certain enemy types.

You need these materials for research and more specialized recipes, so keep them instead of leaving them behind. The weapons guide helps with the fights.

๐Ÿญ From Ore to Component

Raw ore alone does nothing for you. Processing makes it usable. The basic chain:

StationJob
Ore Excavatormines raw ore automatically
Smeltersmelts raw ore into bars
Fabricatorturns bars into rods, plates and wire

How to automate this chain efficiently and keep it powered is shown in the StarRupture automation guide. To move the materials between buildings you'll use Drone Rails, covered in the Drone Rails guide. If you like the genre, check out our guides for Space Engineers 2 ores and SpaceCraft resources.

๐Ÿ”ง Which Extractor for Which Resource?

A quick reference so you don't lose track of which device you need for which StarRupture resources:

DeviceResources
Ore ExcavatorTitanium, Wolfram, Calcium
Helium-3 ExtractorHelium-3
Sulfur ExtractorSulfur
Laser DrillGoethite
Mining Tool (manual)Quartz, Ignitium, loose ore chunks on the ground

๐Ÿ“ˆ Recommended Order

If you don't know what to focus on first, stick to this priority: secure a stable supply of Titanium and Wolfram early, because both go into almost every early component. Add Calcium once you need ceramics and ammo.

Only when your base is up and automated is it worth jumping to Helium-3 and Sulfur. These special resources unlock advanced chemistry and electronics. Grab Quartz and Ignitium on the side with every Rupture, since they're only available in that window anyway. That way you avoid getting tangled up in expensive chains before your basic supply is in place.

๐Ÿ’ก Resource Tips for Beginners

  • Search by color: gray circles mean Titanium, brown veins with an archway mean Wolfram, bright yellow means Sulfur, purple gas means Helium-3. The map saves you a lot of searching.
  • Pick up loose chunks: small ore chunks lie around many veins. Grab them early for free before your excavator is up.
  • Plan around the Rupture: Sulfur, Quartz and Ignitium all depend on the Rupture cycle. Once you know the rhythm, farming them is stress-free.
  • Don't ignore meteorites: they give Titanium and Meteorite Hearts, a worthwhile side stop.

โ“ FAQ: StarRupture Resources

What is the most important early resource in StarRupture?

Titanium and Wolfram. Both are the backbone of early crafting and are mined with the basic Ore Excavator.

How do I get Quartz?

Only from the caves that open after a Rupture's Fire Wave, and only by hand with the Mining Tool, within the limited window.

Why can't I mine Sulfur?

Sulfur sits in corrosive zones, and the extractor often can only be placed after a Rupture, when the temperature drops. On top of that, the Sulfur Extractor only unlocks at level 8 with Future Health Solutions.

Which corporation unlocks the Helium-3 Extractor?

Future Health Solutions, at level 6 according to the community wiki. Not Selenian Corporation, even though many guides say so.

๐Ÿ Bottom Line

Resources in StarRupture follow a clear progression, so the real skill is timing. Read the map colors, keep the excavators on the basics, and save your manual mining trips for the minutes right after a Rupture. Do that and you'll rarely hit a bottleneck. Next step: automation, so all these materials flow on their own.

As of October 8, 2026 (Update 2 "Quality of Life", current Hotfix 0.3.5 from October 5, 2026): checked against the official patch notes for Update 1 (April 9, 2026), the community database starrupture.th.gl (building and recipe names from the game files) and the community-run StarRupture wiki on wiki.gg (corporations, extractors). None of this game's wikis are official.
