SpaceCraft Ship Design 2026: Integrity, Modules and Your First Ship

SpaceCraft Ship Design 2026: Integrity, Modules and Your First Ship

In SpaceCraft by Shiro Games you build your ships yourself, block by block and module by module. That sounds like pure creative freedom, but in practice it often ends in frustration: the ship looks great, yet you can't board it, or it takes damage on an FTL jump. The reason is almost always Integrity. This guide to SpaceCraft ship design explains how stability, materials and modules connect, and what your first genuinely useful ship should look like.

๐Ÿš€ What Makes Building in SpaceCraft Different

SpaceCraft is a multiplayer sandbox game that launched in Steam Early Access on June 11, 2026. You gather resources on planets and asteroids, process them into parts and assemble modular ships from them.

The core of SpaceCraft ship design stays the same, though: every part you add has weight and affects whether your ship is stable enough to fly. Without a solid resource base you won't get far, and our guide to finding resources in SpaceCraft shows where the material comes from.

๐Ÿงฑ Understanding Integrity and Stability

Integrity is the most important number in SpaceCraft ship design. Put simply, it tells you whether your ship's Frame is enough for its weight. The community rule of thumb: the more blocks you add, the heavier the ship gets, and the further Integrity drops. If the Frame is no longer enough, the game shows a warning telling you to raise the frame.

Low Integrity has real consequences. Since patch v0.3.22300 (June 23, 2026), invalid ships can no longer be boarded in the base shipyard. A pure Steel ship that grew too big and triggers the frame warning becomes practically useless that way. Community reports also say that low Integrity raises the risk of your ship taking damage on an FTL jump.

How low Integrity is allowed to go isn't officially documented, so follow the game's frame warning. Shiro Games corrected Integrity for Titanium hulls in hotfix v0.5.25570 (October 9, 2026). SpaceCraft is in Early Access, so these mechanics can still shift.

โš’๏ธ Materials: Steel, Titanium and More

You don't raise Integrity by magic but with better hull materials. Steel is the entry material and fine for small ships. Build bigger, though, and you hit a wall fast, because Steel is comparatively heavy. Titanium is the clear upgrade: according to the game data on spacecraft.tools, a Titanium 4x3x2 hull part has the same Frame value (36) as Steel 4x3x2, but weighs 24 instead of 30 tons and provides 360 instead of 240 SP of System Support.

Hull partRoleValues (game data)Permit
Steel 4x3x2entry hullFrame 36, 240 SP, 30 tShip of Steel (3,000 credits)
Titanium 4x3x2lighter upgradeFrame 36, 360 SP, 24 tBetter Titanium (7,000 credits)

The biggest lever early on is simple anyway: keep the weight down. The lighter you build, the more fits on the same ship before Integrity collapses. Lighter high-tier materials only unlock later; until then, build compact and leave out blocks you don't need.

If you want to tune Integrity seriously, you'll have to experiment in the editor, because many detailed values aren't officially documented in Early Access. Our SpaceCraft modules guide covers the other hull types such as Levinium and Solid Frame.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Modules and System Support (SP)

Modules are what make your ship useful: cargo hold, scanner, mining laser, battery. Every module uses System Support (SP), a budget your hull provides. The game data lists it as "System Requirements" on each module. According to the developer blog "First Steps 4", all modules run at full efficiency as long as the requirements stay below your System Support. Go over it and modules work worse and can fail.

ModuleRecipe (Workshop)Notes
Small Cargo Hold1 Small Module Kit, 6 Metal Sheet, 4 Silicone Gel100 SP, more storage for long mining runs
Simple Resource Detector1 Small Module Kit, 2 Magnetic Coil100 SP, 1 patch slot
Simple Mining Laser1 Small Module Kit, 2 Crystalline Focuser100 SP, mining tier 2
Overclocked Mining Laser1 Simple Mining Laser, 3 Crystalline Focuser, 3 Magnetic Coil200 SP, mining tier 3, 3 patch slots, 1,000 durability
Flywheel Battery1 Small Module Kit, 1 Motor, 2 Concrete100 SP, stores power

Recipes and SP values are from the spacecraft.tools game database (v0.5.25674). Since Major Update #1, every module also has a tier that decides which patches it can take. Rule of thumb: plan one module fewer and leave reserve in your SP budget.

๐Ÿ’ก Your First Good Ship, Step by Step

  1. Start small. Build compact instead of planning a mothership right away. A small Steel ship with high Integrity flies more reliably than a big one at the limit.
  2. Don't forget propulsion and FTL. Thrusters and the FTL engine have weight limits. Build the hull first, then budget weight for propulsion and modules.
  3. Add the core modules. A mining laser, a resource detector, a cargo hold and a battery are enough to start and cover the whole resource loop.
  4. Watch Integrity. Pay attention to the frame warning and keep Integrity positive. If it gets tight, swap Steel for the lighter Titanium instead of adding more blocks.
  5. Check your SP budget. Keep a reserve so you can add a module later.

โš ๏ธ Common SpaceCraft Ship Design Mistakes

  • Too big, too early: A huge Steel ship triggers the frame warning and stops being usable.
  • Building for looks only: Every decorative block is weight. In SpaceCraft ship design, looks always cost stability.
  • Blowing the SP budget: Too many modules with no reserve make every module work worse.
  • Ignoring engine weight limits: Thrusters and the FTL engine only carry so much. Miss that and your ship won't lift off.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions about SpaceCraft Ship Design

What is Integrity in SpaceCraft?

Integrity shows whether your ship's Frame is enough for its weight. If it isn't, the game asks you to raise the frame. An invalid ship can't be boarded, and players report more damage on FTL jumps.

How do I make my ship more stable?

Cut weight and use better hull materials. The classic step is from Steel to Titanium: same Frame value per part, but less weight and more System Support, so bigger builds become possible.

Which modules do I need to start?

A mining laser, a resource detector, a cargo hold and a battery cover the whole resource loop. Make sure the total SP stays below your System Support budget.

Can SpaceCraft ship design still change?

Yes. The game is in Early Access, and values and mechanics are adjusted through patches. Treat every number here as the current state, not a final one.

โœจ Bottom Line

Good SpaceCraft ship design is less about size and more about balancing weight, Frame and Integrity. Start small, keep the weight low and switch to better materials in time, and you'll quickly have a reliable ship you can actually board and jump with. As of October 2026. Checked against Shiro Games' patch notes and developer blogs on Steam, the spacecraft.tools game database (v0.5.25674: hull and module stats, recipes, permits) and Steam community discussions (marked as community reports). SpaceCraft is in Early Access, so recipes, values and Integrity limits can change with patches.
