Conan Exiles Leveling Guide 2026 (Enhanced): Fast XP to Level 60

Getting from level 1 to the level 60 cap in Conan Exiles goes a lot faster once you know the right XP sources. This Conan Exiles leveling guide shows how to climb quickly in the Enhanced version (Unreal Engine 5) without running around the desert aimlessly. The hard numbers come from the player-written Conan Exiles wiki, and we mark uncertain community values as such.

๐Ÿ“Š Conan Exiles leveling: how much XP is behind level 60?

Before you head out, it helps to know the total distance. According to the community wiki, you need 7,259,525 experience points in total to reach level 60. The first levels are trivial, the last ones cost many times more:

StepXP needed
Level 1 → 2175 XP
Level 59 → 60348,200 XP
Total to level 607,259,525 XP

The curve is steep: a single level-up at the end (348,200 XP) costs more than a third of what the first 30 levels need combined (949,150 XP to level 30). That's why your choice of XP source decides whether Conan Exiles leveling takes a few evenings or turns into a grind that lasts for days.

One point people often overlook: while your character is online, you get 10 XP every 10 seconds passively (60 XP per minute). That always runs in the background.

โš’๏ธ XP source 1: crafting

Every item you craft gives the crafter XP, scaled by your server's crafting XP multiplier. The idea: mass-produce cheap, low-material items while you do other things.

  • Bricks, insulated wood and gruel are classics: cheap in bulk and quick to queue. Exact XP per item isn't properly documented, so in practice throughput through full crafting queues is what counts.
  • Large chests are considered especially efficient for Conan Exiles leveling: community guides quote about 760 XP per chest at roughly 5 seconds of crafting time. You need level 20, plus plenty of wood and iron bars.
  • Warpaint is quoted at about 100 to 500 XP per item, at roughly 10 seconds of crafting time.

These crafting values come from community sources and depend heavily on your server multipliers. Treat them as a guide, not a constant. The real trick is running several stations (multiple furnaces, tanneries, benches) in parallel and stockpiling raw materials ahead of time. How to get large amounts of wood, stone and iron is covered in our Conan Exiles resources guide.

โ›๏ธ XP source 2: harvesting

According to the wiki, every gathered resource gives 1 XP as a base value, modified by the harvest multiplier and your tool. Sounds small, but it adds up fast, because better tools yield more resources per hit, and therefore more XP.

  • Put attribute points into Expertise and unlock the Efficient Harvest perk. It doubles the resources from the last hit on a node, and since every resource gives XP, your harvesting XP goes up indirectly too.
  • Upgrade to better tools. A Steel Sickle, for example, harvests plants much faster than the starter sickle.
  • Good harvesting targets are lotus flowers, mushrooms, dead trees and Black Ice. These sit close together in the jungle in particular and can be cleared quickly even solo.

Which attribute points help Conan Exiles leveling most in this phase is explained in our Conan Exiles attributes guide.

โš”๏ธ XP source 3: combat and Sepermeru

Killing enemies is one of the most rewarding XP sources, although the wiki doesn't directly compare the sources. The formula: (Player XP Kill Multiplier ร— Player XP Rate Multiplier) ร— fixed creature value. Two early targets are especially worth it:

  • Rocknoses in the desert are considered the fastest creature XP. At low levels, a few kills are enough for several level-ups.
  • Apes in the jungle give noticeably more XP per kill and carry you through the mid levels.

The XP per creature (Rocknose or ape, for example) varies a lot depending on server settings and isn't officially fixed. We treat the numbers floating around as rough guidance, not fact.

Sepermeru, the city of the Relic Hunters, sits in the western part of the desert. Most of its human NPCs are neutral, but smaller groups attack when you come close. For Conan Exiles leveling, the city is doubly useful: lots of human enemies in one place for steady combat XP, and a high density of thralls to capture.

Bring a good companion who handles the fights for you. The right candidates are in our guide to the best thralls in Conan Exiles, and capturing them is explained in the Conan Exiles thralls guide.

โœจ XP source 4: journey steps

The Exiles Journey (J on PC) rewards XP the first time you complete certain milestones. You only progress in the active journey, but you can switch between journeys at any time without losing anything. Advanced steps give more XP than early ones.

Journey steps are a strong boost for early Conan Exiles leveling and unlock important basics along the way. Late in the game their share is tiny compared to the huge XP needed per level. So grab the easy steps early while you craft and gather anyway. There are no official XP numbers per step.

๐Ÿ’ก An efficient Conan Exiles leveling route to level 60

The fastest route runs all sources in parallel instead of one after another:

  1. Level 1 to 10: Take the journey steps, build basic tools, farm Rocknoses in the desert. Put attribute points toward Expertise to aim for Efficient Harvest.
  2. Level 10 to 20: Move to the jungle, farm apes and lotus or mushrooms. Set up your first crafting stations and craft in batches.
  3. Level 20 to 40: Craft large chests and cheap bulk items in full queues while you clear Sepermeru. Combat XP and crafting XP then run at the same time.
  4. Level 40 to 60: Now volume counts. Stockpile materials, keep stations running constantly and kill stronger creatures with a companion. Passive XP helps, but the final stretch lives on throughput.

How long Conan Exiles leveling to 60 takes depends heavily on gear and server multipliers, and there's no reliable time figure. On servers with default rates it takes much longer than on community servers with boosted multipliers.

โ“ Conan Exiles leveling FAQ

What is the fastest XP source in Conan Exiles?

Killing enemies is one of the most rewarding. In practice, combining combat (Sepermeru, Rocknoses, apes) with crafting in parallel is the most efficient, because both XP streams run at the same time.

Is crafting worth it for Conan Exiles leveling?

Yes, especially large chests and cheap bulk items. The values depend on your server and aren't officially fixed. Throughput through full crafting queues is what makes the difference.

Are journey steps still relevant?

Early on, yes. They give solid XP and unlock basics. Late in the game their share is tiny compared to the huge XP requirement, so grab the easy steps early.

Do I get XP for doing nothing?

As long as your character is online, yes: 10 XP every 10 seconds. It doesn't replace an active grind, but it always runs on the side.

๐Ÿ Bottom line

Fast Conan Exiles leveling isn't about one method but all of them at once: combat XP in Sepermeru and the desert, harvesting XP with Efficient Harvest, batch crafting in full queues and journey steps taken early. A total of 7,259,525 XP sounds huge, but this parallel approach shrinks it a lot. If you want the background on the current version, our Conan Exiles Enhanced guide covers what changed with UE5.

Checked against the Conan Exiles wiki ("Experience" page) for total XP, passive XP and the harvesting base value, as of October 2026 (Conan Exiles Enhanced). The Conan Exiles wiki on Fandom calls itself the "Official Conan Exiles Wiki" and is linked from Funcom's site conanexiles.com, but by its own description it is written by players. Server-dependent crafting and creature values are deliberately marked as rough guidance.
