Soulframe Reset Character or Delete It: The Honest Guide

Soulframe Reset Character or Delete It: The Honest Guide

Short and honest up front: if you search for a Soulframe reset character button, there isn't one (as of Preludes 16 “Of Hook and Hound”, October 2026). If you come back after a break and can't do much with your old save, there are still a few real tools, just no hard reset to zero. This guide shows what Digital Extremes officially offers, what the community uses as workarounds and when account deletion through support is the only option left.

The question mostly comes from two groups: players who tried an earlier alpha or Preludes phase, took a break and now have an old character that doesn't fit, and players who rushed their pact or appearance choice in the tutorial. Both cases show up regularly in forum threads, and in both the fix is usually less drastic than a full reset.

🔄 Is there an official way to reset your Soulframe character?

No. The official Soulframe Preludes FAQ answers this directly: “Account resets are not available at this time.” The Preludes 16 patch notes don't add such a feature either.

Digital Extremes also writes in the FAQ that it wants to avoid future wipes: “We aspire to avoid future wipes and preserve progress moving forward.” That explains why the question comes up so often. Threads like “Reset character?”, “Resetting character/progress/account?” and “Delete existing character and Start a new character” on forums.soulframe.com, plus Steam discussions on the same topic, are recurring forum questions.

Key to understanding it: a Soulframe account has only a single Envoy, which is the official name for your character. There are no multiple character slots like in classic RPGs. “Character” and “account” are technically largely the same save object, which also explains why a character can't be reset without losing the account.

What actually works instead

  • Replay the opening sequence (unconfirmed): according to community reports, you can replay the opening sequence at the lore NPC's writing desk in the Nightfold and pick a new skin tone, hairstyle and eye color. This is not officially documented, neither in the FAQ nor in patch notes up to Preludes 16. Check it in game before you rely on it.
  • Verminia in the Nightfold: after her quest “Brewer of Hues” you can change hairstyle, hair, eye and skin color, facial features and body type, including gender, at any time, according to the community-run wiki at wiki.avakot.org. No sequence replay needed.
  • “Rise, Envoy” in the Journal: the combat and movement tutorial can be replayed as often as you like, without losing progress.
  • Switch pacts: if you picked the wrong pact at the start, you aren't stuck with it. Pacts can be switched later in the game. Details in the Pacts guide.

None of these reset level, Virtues (more in the Virtues guide), gear or world progress. They are purely cosmetic and convenience features, not a progress reset.

🗑️ Deleting your account completely

If you really want to start from zero, there is only one official way, and it affects the entire account, not just your game progress: contact Soulframe support. According to the official support article “How can I delete my account?”, this requires a ticket in which you confirm your identity through security questions.

  • Submit a ticket via support.soulframe.com under Account Support.
  • Confirm your identity with security questions (support checks manually).
  • Once processed, the whole account is deleted, including Envoy, gear, progress and any purchases.

This is not a reset but a permanent deletion. There is no recycle bin and no undo. If you want to keep playing afterward, you need a brand-new account and go through the Preludes intro truly from scratch, including character creation, tutorial and your first pact choice.

⚠️ What works and what doesn't

ActionPossible?
Re-pick skin tone, hairstyle, eye color via the opening sequence❓ community claim only, not officially confirmed
Change hairstyle, colors, facial features, body type at Verminia✅ yes, independent of your first choice
Replay the combat tutorial “Rise, Envoy”✅ yes, no progress lost
Switch pacts✅ yes, later in the game
Reset only level, Virtues or gear to 0 and keep the account❌ no, no in-game or support feature for it
Create a second character slot on the same account❌ no, one Envoy per account
Delete the whole account via support ticket⚠️ yes, but permanent and affects the whole account

💡 Think twice before you delete

Since progress can't be cleanly reset, account deletion is really only worth it as a last resort. If what bothers you is your look or an early decision you regret, Verminia or a pact switch usually covers it without losing any data.

And since Digital Extremes explicitly says it wants to avoid future wipes for Soulframe, don't throw away your current progress lightly. A new account doesn't just mean a new Envoy but losing all your play time, World Trees, unlocked weapons and everything you have earned.

If you're unsure, ask in the official forum before filing a support ticket whether the policy has changed in the meantime. The topic is raised in many feedback threads, but Digital Extremes has made no announcement on it so far.
