Planet Crafter Trade Rocket: Unlock, Trade Values and Multiple Launches

"Launch the trade rocket once or several times?" That question shows up in search a lot, and for good reason. The Planet Crafter Trade Rocket, called the Trade space rocket in the game, works completely differently from the terraforming rockets of the endgame. If you treat it like a normal rocket and build only one, you lose Terra Tokens for good. This guide shows how to unlock it, how trading ores and goods works, which goods pay off and answers the main question directly.

๐Ÿš€ Unlocking and building the Planet Crafter trade rocket

How you unlock the Trade space rocket depends on the world. On Prime, the blueprint comes with terraforming progress: it unlocks during the Breathable Atmosphere stage, which starts at 32 GTi. Players in the Steam forum put it at roughly 12 percent into that stage. You don't need a chip on Prime.

On the DLC planet Humble it works differently. There you need a dedicated blueprint microchip that contains only this one blueprint. According to player reports it sits in crates in the Osmium caves, and one player says Humble has at least one, often two or three of these chips. Both are community reports from the Steam forum, not developer statements.

The game-data database lists the recipe as 3 Circuit boards plus a Super Alloy Rod, a Rocket Engine and a Uranium Rod, built from the multitool. Like any rocket, it also needs a Launch Platform as its base before you can send anything into space. When you get that far in terraforming is covered in our terraformation stages guide.

๐Ÿ’ฑ How trading works: sell goods, earn tokens

The loop is simple. You load valuable materials, such as ores, rods or processed goods, into the cargo hold of the Trade Rocket and launch it. After a short wait it comes back, and the Terra Tokens are credited to your account automatically. You don't get physical coins back. You just see your balance go up, and a short sound confirms the payment. Important: only materials listed on the trade screen earn tokens at all. Anything else is wasted.

With your Terra Tokens you buy things you can't get anywhere else, including T2 drones, habitat modules, storage upgrades, a cooking station and new animal species. On top of the rocket, yellow computer chips you find while exploring pay out 100 to 5,000 Terra Tokens directly, independent of trading.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Which goods pay the most

Not every item is worth the same. These are the trade values the game-data database planetcrafter.th.gl lists for common goods. Values can shift with updates:

ItemTerra Tokens
Fusion Energy Cell100
Pulsar Quartz30
Circuit board25
Super Alloy Rod15
Fabric10
Uranium Rod10
Iridium Rod and Osmium Rod10 each

The biggest single payout doesn't come from normal production but from shipwrecks. Fuses found there as loot are worth a lot: the Energy multiplier fuse 6,000 Terra Tokens, the Production multiplier fuse 5,000 and heat, pressure, oxygen and plant fuses 2,500 each. If you search wrecks for blueprint chips anyway, never leave the fuses behind. Before selling the energy ones, read our fuses guide: you need at least four of them yourself for the portal and travel rocket.

For steady mass production, experienced players like Fabric. The price per piece is low (2 Silk make 1 Fabric), but an automated silk setup has practically no cap. Unlike limited ore, that adds up to a reliable income over a long session. Where Silkworms come from is in the larvae guide.

๐Ÿ”— Launch once or many times? The clear answer

This is the key difference from the terraforming rockets of the endgame. A heat or pressure rocket gives a permanent multiplier, and each additional rocket of the same type just adds to it. The Trade Rocket works completely differently: it has no permanent effect. Every flight is a closed deal: load it, launch it, collect the tokens, start over. Without repeating, there's no more income.

So the answer is clear: launching many times isn't just allowed, it's the whole point of the system. Community reports from the Steam forum show how far you can push it. One experienced player says he runs 23 trade rockets at once for passive income, fed automatically by drones and auto-crafters. As a rough starting point: according to players, a single simple flight often brings only around 600 to 700 tokens. Income only becomes noticeable once several rockets run in parallel.

Another lever is the Trade rocket multiplier fuse. According to community reports it cuts a Trade Rocket's round trip to under a minute, turning occasional trade runs into a near-continuous loop. It's one of the fuses you can craft yourself at the Quartz craft station.

๐Ÿ’ก Practical tips

  • Build several rockets in parallel as soon as materials and base allow. One rocket per item is inefficient.
  • Automate: drones and auto-crafters fill the cargo holds so your rockets can launch without manual reloading.
  • Search wrecks for fuses, not just chips. They bring by far the most tokens per find.
  • Set up Fabric production early if you want steady income instead of a few big sales.

๐Ÿšซ Common mistakes

  • Treating the Trade Rocket like a terraforming rocket and building just one. Without repeat flights, no more tokens.
  • Loading worthless materials that aren't even listed on the trade screen.
  • Selling every fuse from wrecks, including the Energy multiplier fuses you'll need yourself later.
  • On Humble, waiting for the special blueprint chip instead of actively searching the crates in the Osmium caves for it.

โ“ Frequently asked questions

Do I only need to build the Trade Rocket once?

No. It has no permanent bonus like terraforming rockets. Every flight is a separate deal. For noticeable income, run several rockets in parallel.

What happens to the Terra Tokens after a sale?

They're credited to your balance automatically when the rocket returns. No physical items end up in your inventory.

Which item pays the most early on?

Rods from ores you're mining anyway: the Super Alloy Rod brings 15 Terra Tokens, Uranium, Iridium and Osmium Rods 10 each. For steady income, add Fabric (10 each) once a silk setup is running. The top values in the table aren't realistic early: Pulsar Quartz (30) only unlocks at around 175 GTi, well after the Trade Rocket at 32 GTi, and the Fusion Energy Cell (100) needs Pulsar Quartz as an ingredient. Circuit boards (25) pay off once you're making them anyway, and you need three for the rocket itself. Fuses from wrecks beat every trade good by far as soon as you find some.

Does the Trade Rocket work on the DLC planet Humble?

Yes. According to player reports it's unlocked there through its own blueprint chip from crates in the Osmium caves. On Prime, it unlocks automatically with terraforming progress during the Breathable Atmosphere stage.

As of October 11, 2026 (version v2.102 "Skeo"). Item names, the rocket recipe and all trade values in the table were checked against the game-data database planetcrafter.th.gl; several values there are higher than in older guides. Corrosion Hour's report on the Space Trading update also names the Breathable Atmosphere stage as the unlock on Prime.

Player reports from the official Steam forum and community guides, not developer statements: the exact unlock point within that stage, the blueprint chip on Humble, the 600 to 700 tokens per simple flight, the 23-rocket setup and the round trip under a minute with the Trade rocket multiplier fuse. Values can change with updates.
