Planet Crafter Amber on Skeo: Location, Extractor and Recipes

Planet Crafter amber only exists on the new moon Skeo, and it isn't a chunk you pick up but a deposit you mine with an Ore Extractor. The spot is already marked on your map; you just have to get there.

That last part is where most players have been stuck since the moon went live on September 1, 2026. This guide separates what Miju Games actually wrote in the changelog, what players report on the Steam forum and which claims nobody has been able to back up so far.

🗺️ Where Planet Crafter Amber Actually Spawns

The short answer: on Skeo. The resource doesn't show up anywhere in the official patch notes for the starting worlds Prime, Toxicity, Humble and Selenea, and the fan databases list the new moon as its only source. If you're searching for deposits on your home world, you're searching in vain.

One thing to keep in mind: the word “amber” doesn't appear once in the v2.102 release changelog from September 1, 2026. The resource is still no rumor; it was already in the patch notes during testing. On July 22, 2026, Miju Games wrote in the development branch update v2.101: “T2 animals rocket now require 2 amber and 4 genetic traits”.

To this day, that's the only official quantity for this material. Everything else you're about to read comes from the player forum or from fan databases and is labeled as such.

🎯 Finding the Planet Crafter Amber Spot on Skeo

The key move is trivial and still gets missed all the time: press M. A player named Pantheria writes in the Steam thread “How to find the Amber spot on Skeo?” from September 4, 2026, that the map on Skeo shows both deposits, Osmium and the new resource, without him having launched any satellites first. That's a community report, but it matches the official hint from v2.101, which said about the mineable veins on Skeo explicitly “check the map”.

So the real problem isn't finding the spot but reaching it. Pantheria explains that he needs to head southwest, but a big mountain blocks the way and he can't get around it. SteveWithAQ answers in the same thread: you have to wait, because there's a way into the mountain once the ice has melted far enough.

In practice, that means the spot depends on your terraforming progress on Skeo. Push the temperature up with heaters and the way opens. This is also a community claim from a single thread, not a developer statement. But it's the only explanation anyone has offered so far, and it fits how frozen passages behave on the other worlds.

There are no confirmed coordinates. Exact numbers have circulated for well-known spots on Prime for years, but nobody has published any for Skeo yet. Anyone who gave you coordinates for this deposit four days after release was guessing.

⚒️ Placing the Ore Extractor Correctly

Planet Crafter amber doesn't lie around as a pickup. You need an Ore Extractor placed on the deposit. A player in the thread “Resources” sums up the situation on Skeo: only the most basic resources plus Osmium and this resource can be mined there with extractors, and everything else has to be imported from other worlds.

The practical tip from the same thread is to place your drills exactly where the circles sit on the map. Another player reports on September 2 that he found his Osmium simply by trial and error and then built a T3 Ore Extractor, because after placement it shows what can actually be mined at that spot. That's the fastest way to verify a location.

Only one line is officially confirmed here, but it matters: according to the v2.102 changelog, “Osmium on Skeo is now collected with ore extractor (not harvester anymore)”. If you're still out there with a harvester, you get nothing on Skeo. Also official: the T3 Ore Extractor now unlocks a bit earlier.

One player puts it this way: Skeo is a moon, not a planet, so resources are naturally thin. For everything else, you're left with interplanetary trade, asteroids and chests. Plan carefully what you bring along on the flight.

📦 What Planet Crafter Amber Is Used For

This is why the question about the location keeps coming up: Planet Crafter amber is tied to almost everything v2.102 unlocks on Skeo. The following list comes from a fan database that reads the game files, so it's a community source, not developer documentation. It does, however, match the new features in the official changelog line by line.

RecipeAmountEvidence
T2 Animals spreader rocket2x Amber plus 4 Genetic traitsofficial, v2.101 changelog
Magnetar Quartz2x Amber, 1x Osmium, 1x Oxygen capsulefan database
T2 Oxygen Rocketnot specifiedfan database
Brojo tree seednot specifiedfan database
Giant trees potnot specifiedfan database
Lucia butterfly larvanot specifiedfan database

Magnetar Quartz is the most interesting entry. The changelog only says the recipe unlocks on Skeo and names no ingredients; the fan database does. In line with that, v2.101 officially stated “Magnetar quartz recipe changed, removed genetic trait”, so the recipe was still being adjusted during testing. For larvae in general, see the Planet Crafter larvae guide.

Because the T2 Oxygen Rocket, T2 Animals spreader rocket, Brojo tree and T3 Tree Spreader all add terraforming value, Planet Crafter amber is effectively the bottleneck for your entire progress on Skeo. Without the spot in the southwest, your index there climbs much slower than it should.

⚠️ Two Mix-Ups That Cost You Time

First: fan wikis list a biome called “Amber Dead Forest”. That's a place name, not a confirmed deposit of the resource. Searching there leads nowhere.

Second: the development branch is history. Skeo has been part of the regular game since September 1, 2026, free and simultaneously on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and GOG. If you're still on the test branch, switch back to “None” in the Steam properties. And because The Planet Crafter has no crossplay, co-op only works within the same console brand. Steam players and console players can't play together.

💡 Practical Tips for Your Planet Crafter Amber Hunt

  • Map first, rover second. Open the map with M before you set off. According to player reports, both deposits are marked there even without satellites.
  • Heaters before a long trip. If the path is frozen, exploring won't get you any further. Raising the temperature and coming back later is faster than any detour.
  • T3 Ore Extractor as a scanner. After placement it shows what's at that spot, perfect for confirming a suspected location.
  • Don't waste it. As long as you've only tapped one deposit, the resource belongs in rockets and Magnetar Quartz, not in experiments.
  • Go underground. One player found a deposit in a cave, so it pays to check below the surface too.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions about Planet Crafter Amber

Where do I find amber on Skeo?
The spot is marked on the map, which you open with M. According to players, it's in the southwest behind a big mountain, and the way in only opens once enough ice has melted. Both are community reports from the Steam forum, not developer statements.

Is there Planet Crafter amber on Prime or Humble?
There's no evidence for it. Neither the official patch notes nor the fan databases list a deposit outside of Skeo. If you need the resource, the road leads through the moon.

Which extractor mines Planet Crafter amber?
It comes from the Ore Extractor, not from a harvester. The T3 Ore Extractor has the advantage of showing what can be mined at a spot after you place it. According to the official patch notes, it unlocks a bit earlier than before.

How much amber does the T2 animals rocket need?
Two, plus 4 Genetic traits. That's the only officially documented amount, quoted word for word from the development branch update v2.101 of July 22, 2026.

Is amber mentioned in the v2.102 release changelog?
No. The word “amber” doesn't appear in the announcement for the September 1, 2026 launch. The resource was introduced during testing and simply moved into the regular version with the update.

Are there coordinates for the amber deposit?
Not yet. Nobody has published verifiable numbers for Skeo so far. Treat any coordinates going around as guesses until several players confirm them independently.

As of: September 4, 2026. Checked against Miju Games' official Steam news feed for app 1284190, in particular the September 1, 2026 announcement of the Skeo moon launch with the v2.102 changelog, plus the development branch posts v2.100 from July 15, 2026 and v2.101 from July 22, 2026.

Marked as community information and not confirmed by the developer: the location in the southwest behind the frozen mountain, the map markers without satellites, the cave find, the list of resources mineable on Skeo and all recipe amounts except the T2 animals rocket. Sources are the Steam threads “How to find the Amber spot on Skeo?”, “Skeo”, “Resources” and “Trying out Skeo from 0%?” as well as a fan database that reads the game files. There is no official Planet Crafter wiki.
