Fallout 76 Gold Bullion Farming 2026: Treasury Notes, Daily Limits and the Fastest Routes

Fallout 76 Gold Bullion Farming 2026: Treasury Notes, Daily Limits and the Fastest Routes

Fallout 76 gold bullion farming always runs through Treasury Notes: one note turns into 10 Gold Bullion at the Gold Press, and each exchange window takes 40 notes, so 400 Gold Bullion. The notes themselves drop from public events and four daily quests, between 2 and 8 per event.

If you want to max the limit every day, you need about two hours and a fixed order. And there's one point where sources disagree: whether the exchange window is 24 or only 20 hours long.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Rate, Daily Limit and the 20-Hour Question

Before you start: Fallout 76 gold bullion only unlocks as a currency once you've finished the Wastelanders main quest Secrets Revealed. Until then, the machines won't take your notes.

RuleValue
Exchange rate1 Treasury Note = 10 Gold Bullion
Limit per window40 notes = 400 Gold Bullion
During Gold Rush80 notes = 800 Gold Bullion
Smiley at The Wayward50 Gold Bullion for 1,000 caps, up to 300 per week
Maximum held10,000 Gold Bullion per character

Two numbers that older guides often get wrong. First: per fallout.wiki the daily limit is 400 Gold Bullion, not 200. The 200 figure comes from older overviews. Second, the cap: past 10,000 Gold Bullion your character takes nothing more, and anything above that is lost for good.

We haven't found an official Bethesda statement on the daily limit or the cap. The values in this article follow the โ€œGold bullionโ€ page on the community wiki fallout.wiki.

The length of the window is open. That fallout.wiki page simply talks about a limit โ€œper day and character.โ€ Community sources, though, mention a window of 40 notes per 20 hours, with the clock only starting at the first exchange of the new window. We couldn't verify that 20-hour figure ourselves at our last check.

If the 20 hours are right, there's an upside: press about four hours earlier each day than the day before and you get eight exchange cycles in a week instead of seven. That's 3,200 instead of 2,800 Gold Bullion without a single extra note. Caution: other guides say 24 hours or a fixed daily reset, and Bethesda gives no time span at all. The Gold Press tells you: if it takes notes again after 20 hours, the shorter window applies.

You press at the Gold Press Machine. Per fallout.wiki there are two: in the Crater Core and in Foundation, right in front of the elevator to Founder's Hall. Nuka Knights also only lists the gold machines in Foundation and the Crater.

๐Ÿ“Š Which Events Give How Many Treasury Notes

This is the core of Fallout 76 gold bullion farming: the notes come almost entirely from public events, and the payout depends on the event's difficulty tier, not on how long you take. A five-minute easy event gives 2 notes, a 25-minute boss fight 8.

EventTypical lengthNotesNotes per hour
A Colossal Problem (Earle Williams)15 to 25 min8about 24
Encryptid10 to 15 min4about 19
Radiation Rumble10 to 15 min4about 19
Project Paradise10 to 15 min4about 19
Scorched Earth (Scorchbeast Queen)15 to 20 min4about 14
Moonshine Jamboree5 to 10 min4about 32
Uranium Fever5 to 10 min3about 24
Line in the Sand5 to 10 min3about 24
Lode Baring5 to 10 min3about 24
Heart of the Swamp10 to 15 min3about 14
One Violent Night5 to 10 min3about 24
Jail Breakunder 5 min2about 30
Tea Timeunder 5 min2about 30
Riding Shotgun5 to 10 min2about 16
Campfire Tales10 to 15 min2about 10
Distinguished Guests10 to 15 min2about 10

How to read the table. Note counts come from the Fallout wiki and are tied to the event tier: easy 2, medium 3, hard 4, very hard 8. The lengths, and with them the notes-per-hour column, are community estimates. Bethesda doesn't publish event durations. Use them as a ranking, not a stopwatch.

The real takeaway: the fastest events beat the big boss fights. Moonshine Jamboree, Jail Break and Tea Time give more per hour than Scorched Earth, even though they pay half or a quarter per run. Only A Colossal Problem keeps up, because it drops 8 notes at once. Waiting for the Queen is slower than chaining three short events.

The Four Daily Quests

Independent of events there are four daily quests worth 3 notes each, 12 in total:

  • Retirement Plan (Raiders, the Crater)
  • The Importance of Communication (Raiders, the Crater)
  • Vital Equipment (Settlers, Foundation)
  • Photo Opportunity (Davenport)

Together they take about 20 to 25 minutes and are the most reliable part of your day: always available, no matter which event the server throws up.

๐ŸŽฏ The Most Efficient Daily Routine for 400 Gold Bullion

You need 40 notes. Here's how to get there realistically without losing your whole evening:

StepNotesTime
4 daily quests1220 to 25 min
1ร— A Colossal Problem815 to 25 min
5 medium or hard events16 to 2045 to 60 min
Fill up with short eventsrest10 to 15 min
Total40about 90 to 120 min

Two tricks make the difference. Server hopping: per community observation, events start roughly every 20 minutes. Instead of waiting, switch servers and jump into an event that's already running. Collect notes instead of pressing right away: only the exchange is capped, not your inventory. Get 60 notes, press 40, keep 20.

The 6,000 caps for Smiley's weekly allowance are easiest to raise during a Caps-A-Plenty weekend.

โš ๏ธ Gold Rush: Double Payout, but Rare

The Gold Rush event doubles your exchange window to 80 notes, so 800 Gold Bullion per day. It isn't a season event but one of the small weekend bonus events that usually run Thursday to Monday and get announced in advance.

Does it run in fall 2026? According to the Nuka Knights event calendar, a Gold Rush ran together with Minerva's big sale from Thursday, October 8, to Monday, October 12, 2026. The next one is listed for November 19 to 23, 2026, together with Double Mutations. Caps-A-Plenty is also on the calendar from November 5 to 9, which indirectly helps, because it makes Smiley's caps trade cheaper to fund.

Side note: some guides describe Gold Rush as a doubled rate (20 Gold Bullion per note) instead of a doubled limit. The result is the same: 800 Gold Bullion a day.

๐Ÿ›’ Where to Spend Fallout 76 Gold Bullion

Four vendors take Gold Bullion. Three tie their stock to faction reputation, one doesn't:

VendorLocationRequirement
RegsVault 79, Gold Vault Operationsonly Wastelanders finished
Mortimerthe Crater (Raiders)Raider reputation, tiered
SamuelFoundation (Settlers)Settler reputation, tiered
Minervarotatingno reputation, 25% cheaper

Minerva is the special case: she's the only one with no faction requirement and always sells 25% below the regular price, but only on a few days and with a rotating stock. When and where she sets up and what she has right now is in our Fallout 76 Minerva guide. In short: this article covers earning, that one covers spending.

๐Ÿ’ก Priorities When Your Budget Is Tight

A full Secret Service Armor set costs 5,900 Gold Bullion at Regs: helmet 1,650, torso 1,250, each of the four limbs 750. At Minerva it's 4,428 thanks to her discount. At 400 Gold Bullion a day that's 15 or 11 days of farming for one armor set. So an order pays off:

  1. Secret Service torso and limbs, skip the helmet at first. Without the helmet the set costs 4,250 at Regs and 3,190 at Minerva. Helmets can't take legendary effects, so their value per bar is lowest.
  2. Underarmor and its lining for 250 and 200 Gold Bullion, two of the cheapest plans with the biggest immediate benefit.
  3. Material mods like Buttressed for 500 at Regs or 400 at Minerva.
  4. Weapon plans last, and ideally only from Minerva.

Prices come from community databases, not from Bethesda. Rule of thumb: always buy expensive plans from Minerva. 25% off 5,900 Gold Bullion is almost 1,500, nearly four farming days saved.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Patch Status: What Changed Recently

Nothing has changed in the gold system itself lately. The latest big update is The Slasher (version 1.7.26.13, September 15, 2026; โ€œPatch 70โ€ in the Nuka Knights count, see our Fallout 76 Patch 70 overview), and it reworked the legendary economy, not gold. Rate, daily limit, cap and Smiley's weekly allowance stay the same. If you want to farm Fallout 76 gold bullion, you can rely on the numbers in this article. The only moving part is Gold Rush.

โ“ FAQ: Fallout 76 Gold Bullion

How much Gold Bullion can I get per day?

400 by exchanging 40 Treasury Notes at the Gold Press, 800 during Gold Rush. On top of that, once a week, 300 Gold Bullion from Smiley at The Wayward for 6,000 caps.

Which event gives the most Treasury Notes?

A Colossal Problem with 8 notes per run. Measured against time, though, short events like Moonshine Jamboree, Jail Break or Tea Time often pay more.

Why doesn't the exchange work?

Either your window hasn't expired yet, or you're missing the Wastelanders quest Secrets Revealed. Without that quest you can't hold any Gold Bullion at all.

Can I hoard unlimited Gold Bullion?

No. The cap is 10,000 Gold Bullion per character, and anything above that is lost for good. Plan big purchases accordingly instead of saving blindly.

Is Smiley's caps trade worth it?

Yes, if you have spare caps: 6,000 caps for 300 Gold Bullion saves you three quarters of a farming day. If your caps are tight, it isn't worth it.

When is the next Gold Rush?

According to the Nuka Knights event calendar, one ran from October 8 to 12, 2026, and the next is listed for November 19 to 23, 2026. Short-term changes are possible.

Exchange rate, daily limit, the 10,000 cap and notes per event tier were checked against the community wiki fallout.wiki. Event lengths, the Secret Service plan prices and the 20-minute event rhythm come from community sources. Gold Rush dates come from the Nuka Knights event calendar. The 20-hour window is a community claim we couldn't verify ourselves; fallout.wiki's โ€œGold bullionโ€ page talks about a daily limit, other guides about 24 hours. As of October 2026.
